Protect Me From What I Want
A review of Jill Stuart Tint Liquid Foundation Control Color
I have lemmed and swooned over Jill Stuart cosmetics ever since I spotted a shimmery eye shadow palette on Makeupalley. I remember that day well.
It was morning. I was sneaking MUA time at work. I was sipping a coffee with some blueberry creamer in it. It was an average day and nothing indicated that something huge was going to take place. Then a fellow muaer posted a picture of a eye shadow palette that she got in Japan. MUAers post makeup porn all the time.
I opened up the post and lost my mind.
I became slightly obsessed with all things Jill Stuart. I scoured the net for glimpses of other products. I paid closer attention to her runway shows and wistfully wondered if it was her own lipsticks that adorned the models. When I tried to do The Secret, I used a picture of a palette on my "inspiration board". This could explain why I am single and alone. I should have put a picture of a dream man on that board instead of a beauty item. But if I was honest with myself...I really would have a hard time choosing my soul mate or being able to purchase Jill Stuart cosmetics in the US. I want them both so badly. But a Jill Stuart primer will never break my heart and will make my pores appear smaller.
I have finally got my hands on a Jill Stuart product. I have been testing the Tint Liquid Foundation Control Color. This foundation has a very light texture with awe-inspiring coverage skills. My imperfections were covered yet my face looked natural. There was no caking, morphing or settling into any crevices or pores. It gave a matte finish and dried fairly quickly. I applied the foundation directly on my face with my fingers and used a sponge to do the blending. This application worked very well. I had no situations or streaks. Lasting power was above average but it did not score as high as La Mer. La Mer foundation is a beast when it comes to staying power. Overall, I can see what the fuss is all about. Jill Stuart foundation is amazing and certainly worth all the coin and praise. Rumors swirl over the US release date. It was first reported that it would appear in March at the Jill Stuart NYC Soho boutique. It is now June and there is still no word on a release date or any information on when our lemmings will be satisfied.

hi annie - i mentioned this before, but i'm in japan now for the quarter (well, for another 10 days.) if there's any particular item you are completely dying for, i miiiight be able to snag something, provided you'd be comfortable giving your mailing address. i've been reading your blog for so long, i just thought i'd offer :)
LOLLLL, such a funny post.
Yes Musing's of a Muse stokes our makeup wants doesn't she ? Some of the Jill Stuart powder compacts she has posted there have had me really contemplating trying to get them.
I do know someone in UK who would. Thankfully I stop myself from asking.
)))Kamo(((
There is so much I am lemming...I would never know where to begin. Many thanks for the sweet offer!!!!
Tell us more about the drugstore items. What is the newest beauty craze over there?
BA: I wonder if the US launch will happen and what products we will get! I would love to try the powders too!
well just let me know if you think of anything ;)
i've been having so much fun looking through drugstores, and at brands that aren't always available in the US. i still can't get over that shiseido, kose, dhc, kanebo, etc. are sold in 7-elevens and little corner beauty stores (yes they are everywhere, not very fancy looking but jam packed with products.) kanebo is unfortunately still very expensive, but i've been using some fabulous shiseido shampoo and conditioner i got for ~$5! eyelash extensions and fake eyelashes seem to be the most noticeable trend i see, but i still can't get over all the "whitening" products. they're everywhere, in everything from sunscreen to foundation. if you ever get a chance to come to japan, doooo it! it is much easier to get around than i ever imagined, and so much fun. i think you would really enjoy kyoto, with all the cherry blossoms in the spring :)
Kamo - I had no idea that Shiseido was a drug store brand over there. What shampoo are you using that you love? I adore their Pureness line of cleansing products, but have not branched out from there.
I bet those cherry blossoms and gardens are beautiful this time of year. Enjoy your stay there!
thanks melanie! the shampoo and conditioner are called "tsubaki," which i think is a kind of oil. the shampoo says "golden repair" and the conditioner says "with tsubaki-EX oil." i'm guessing they're japan-only products, unfortunately.
