Space NK

Space NK was founded by Nicky Kinnaird in April 1993. Her vision "was to achieve a light, open, yet intimate enviornment, serviced by high skilled and unbiased beauty retail experts, and to offer a unique and eclectic mix of both lesser known brands and the best of the familar ranges sourced from around the world". Brands range from Chantecaille to Eve Lom.

Kinnaird helps nuture the creative people behind our favorite brands. She works with Christopher Sheldrake on Space NK fragrances. She was also an early fan and believer in Poppy Kings lippie vision.

Space NK offers the Nars, Laura Mercier, and By Terry makeup lines. They also offer exclusive cult favorites Zelens, Pro-Ferm, Eve Lom(my latest love), Huilles and Baumes, Face Boutique and Joshi Holistic skincare. High end lines Revive, Jurlique and Ren are also offered at the store.
The fragrances sold at Space NK range from the highly popular Marc Jacobs to the Stoned by Solange Azagury. I recently fell under the spell of Diptyque's L'Ombre dans L'Eau. This is a gorgeous blend of blackcurrant leaves with Bulgarian roses.

Total Beauty NYC Launch Party: A night of Red Lippies, Champagne and Beauty.

This past week I attended the NYC launch party of Total Beauty. I joined Kristen from Total Beauty, Erika from Makeup Bag and Julia from All About The Pretty for a night of beauty and fun. The party was held at the fabulous Space NK.

I am really smitten with this place. It has the most amazing niche brands and a sales staff that is knowledgeable on all things beauty. This is a true beauty sanctuary.

The Total Beauty party goers were a mixture of bloggers,magazine editors and super cool PR gals. I finally got to meet Amber from Beauty Blogging Junkie, Marina from Makeup Loves Me, Elke from The Beauty Newsletter, Delphine from Steeping Beauty and the dashing and hilarious Ben from We Love Beauty.

It was great to mingle with fellow beauty addicts and meet some of the fabulous editors and writers from my favorite magazines. I quickly adored Genevieve from Allure. She was beyond lovely and a blast to dish beauty with.

Julie, Erika and I showed off the Total Beauty site to the party attendees. The site's goal is to be the ultimate beauty source on the Internet. They have created a useful beauty product library that is constantly growing. As a beauty junkie and a friend to many cool librarians...this is thrilling.
The site also provides reviews, beauty videos and the soon-to-be-famous Beauty Scout. This function will recommend beauty products based on your needs and likes after you complete a series of questions. The recommendations appear in the subtle beauty scout box on the screen. The box is small, non-intrusive with no flashing or annoying pop ups. It is like a little beauty buddy instead of a pesky sales associate. I highly recommend this part of the site. There is a number of questions to answer but the end result is actually worth it. I swear on my Lancome Behnaz lipstick!
Speaking of the beloved Lancome lipstick...both Julia and I wore it to the party.

The night ended with Amber's buddy, Dana, discovering her holy grail red lippie. The mysterious lippie transformed this Jennifer Connelly look-alike into a "Dita Von Teese worthy" bombshell. It was fun to be a part of this moment.

This future beauty juggernaut was created by Emrah Kovacoglo. The fun and informative site is chock full of product information and reviews, beauty "how to" videos, and links to some of my favorite beauty blogs. The blog featured today is Michelle's All Lacquered Up.

MAC Aids Fund Event with Dita Von Teese and Eve.

On Thursday, MAC celebrated the milestone of raising 100 million dollars to help fight HIV and Aids around the world. This money was raised by the sales from MAC Viva Glam lipstick and lipglass.
7.1 million Viva Glam lipsticks have been sold since 1994. The MAC Aids fund supports over 400 organizations each year. The organizations range from selected pediatric HIV/Aids organizations to controversial programs such as needle exchanges for street youth in Russia.

The event drew photographers and press along with some of the most stunning MAC employees in the company.



Eve, Nancy Mahon and Dita Von Teese were on hand to celebrate and promote the event. Nancy Mahon is the Vice President/Executive Director of the MAC Aids Fund. We were able to dish with her after the photographers left. She is proud of how the MAC Aids fund targets issues and areas where no other charity is willing to go. I was impressed with her passion and energy. She is a great asset to the MAC team and the charity world in general.






Dita was magnificent with her Louboutin heels and red lips. Her skin is otherworldly. There is just no words for how stunning it is.
I was just thrilled that I was able to see her in real life. I am a fan of her taste and charm. I was actually kicking myself that I did not wear my Behnaz lipstick and favorite Weiss pin.

Eve was also her usual gorgeous self. Her makeup was flawless and lemming worthy.
I was so transfixed with her lip gloss that I asked my favorite MAC gal to find out the identity of the lippie. She brought over JJ, Eve's personal makeup artist and friend. JJ used Wondershine 3D lipglass to create the most amazing coral-ish lippie ever. She also used Melon pigment as a blush. I was thrilled because I own both products. Now of course....I do not have the gorgeous golden skin tone of Eve but I will still attempt the look.
JJ uses both NC44 and NC 45 Studiotech foundation on Eve.
Michelle from All Lacquered Up asked JJ what spring makeup forecast she had for us.
JJ said that mascara will be heavy,brows will be arched and lips will be berry like.

The paparazzi were ushered in before the event started and set up camp in front of us. It was very hard to get a great shot of the girls. All three of us stood on our tiptoes with our little digital cameras. The standard pap camera are Nikons. Each camera looked like it had survived a war tour. One photographer brought a step ladder to get a better shot. They were fairly respectful and did not overstay their welcome.

The MAC staff were friendly, helpful and gorgeous. Of course all their makeup looks were lemming worthy. I could have spent at least $100 just buying all the lippies. There were beautiful berries and shimmering reds. One SA had the best smoky eye I had ever seen in real life. I just wanted to beg her to tutor me.

I want to thank the amazing MAC staff for letting us be a part of their celebration. It was a blast!

Aerin Lauder's Private Collection

You might have noticed that I have been MIA since Wednesday.
I had a chance to hang out with the fabulous Total Beauty team along with some amazing fellow bloggers in NYC.
I will dish more on both later...I promise!

One of the many highlights of my brief stay in NYC was a visit to the corporate offices of Estee Lauder. Erika from Makeup Bag, Michelle from All Lacquered Up and I got a sneak peek of the exclusive Private Collection that will be available at Bergdorf Goodman. The launch of a special boutique will be held this morning at 10. For the NYC ladies...the products will be displayed across from the Estee Lauder counter.


This collection was created by Aerin Lauder and features re-interpreted pieces from the Lauder archives along with some of her favorite things including a pair of Lanvin ballet slippers.
She collaborated with Lanvin to create a lovely shade of gold.
The color is stunning and reminded me of an antique charm bracelet.
The ballet slippers will retail for $395.

My personal favorite from the entire collection was the oversized Golden Alligator Bronze Goddess compact. This vintage inspired goodie will retail for $125. I can not imagine anything more fabulous for my Xmas stocking!


Erika from Makeup Bag adored the paisley pendant while Michelle from All Lacquered Up fell under the spell of the Sea Anemone collectible. This piece will retail for $1000.


Lauder worked with photographer Viktor Skrebneski to re-issue a 20th anniversary edition of his photography book, Five Beautiful Women. The coffee table book features Skrebneski’s photographs of Estée Lauder models from the 1960’s and 1970’s. There are some stunning pictures of Willow Bay. The book will retail for $125.
