40 Days and 40 Nights of Primer Reviews
Primer #17 comes from famous makeup artist Trish McEvoy. There is something about this entire line that bothers me. I cannot quite put my finger on it. But I did put my fingers on her primer, named Even Skin Face Primer, a generous half-ounce sample tube from a very kind SA at Saks. In the tube it appears to have a milky-translucent color. On the face, it's colorless. This product has a fresh, herbal scent, so be warned if you're sensitive to facial products that are scented.
Even Skin dries quickly, invisibly, and I almost couldn't see if I had applied it evenly. There is no stickiness or tacky quality. There is no tightening effect as in the Divinora from Guerlain. A very subtle sheen remained, and I applied my La Prairie foundation over top without having to wait very long at all. So far so good. I was pleased with the appearance, the Even Skin did not change what I have come to expect from my La Prairie finish. But within an hour or so, my skin showed flakes and dry patches, and then there were the dreaded cracks and uneven wear. Again, from a makeup artist, I would have expected something more effective. Even Skin feels good and smells good, but did not work well on me at all. It's not the silicone line-and-pore filler type. It's not even moisturizing. I am not sure what it is. I think it would be a good product for oily skin, perhaps even just on its own, or with an application of powder over it for a nice finish. I may try this product again when warm weather comes, with maybe just some bronzer over it. Loved the scent!
Product rating, 4.
