Tom Ford Azuree Body Oil Review

Meet my newest love.

It is the new Tom Ford Azuree body oil from Estee Lauder. I knew I was going to be a goner when I started to read the raves on Makeupalley and the other blogs.

I am a fan of beach inspired scents. My most treasured fragrance decant is CSP's Vanille Frangipane. When Luckyscent finally received their shipment of full sized bottles of Monyette Paris I squealed. Then I scrambled to order a bottle before they sold out. I am a proud owner of Michael Stars's fragrance.
So I fancy myself an expert when it comes to a well executed beach scent.

The Azuree Body Oil is a modern interpretation of the 1969 original. The updated version is "built around a tiare milk accord that comprises Tahitian gardenia petals mixed with coconut and orange blossoms and warmed with vetiver, sandalwood and myrrh." The tropical gardenia note is very creamy with crisp orange blossoms. The vetiver is very green and fresh. The original fragrance had fresh citrus and floral notes with a heart of basil and spearmint and a drydown of oak moss and deep woods.

All the packaging for the collection is the famous Estee Blue. It is an "iconic aqua shade that Estee herself used in the 60's and 70's". Tom Ford stated he "wanted to exaggerate that cartouche [the stylized gold logo that Lauder products carried in the Sixties and Seventies]. I loved that Estée created this mythical place, Azurée, by combining an idea of the Côte d'Azur with her name. It's hysterical and wonderful". I love the retro look. I am a collector of vanity items so it is always wonderful when companies give extra care to the packaging of their products.

So you are wondering how this compares to other tropical oils out there. It rivals and beats them. I just purchased the new Nars oil for around $60. I keep reaching for the $28.50 Lauder.

This is my answer. It is a wonderful summer scent, gives a great sheen to the body and the price can not be beat.

In fact....it is a steal.

Available where Estee Lauder products are sold.

This sounds gorgeous...Can't ignore it if both you and the beauty addict recommend it! I think it'll be great for hot summer days.

I love this oil too. I was lucky enough to get this a few months ago before it officially came out--thanks to my lovely friends at Saks in Chicago.

I love it WAY more than the original Nars--however I am loving the new Nars.

Ahh MUA. I got my butt kicked off of there a while back for mentioning Country Bunny products a few times. What can I say, I'm biased about bath and body products. ;)

Patty: There is a collection coming out this fall according to an article I read last night. I am looking forward to it!
You have some competition for Mr Ford. Parisjasmal claimed him as her husband years ago.

greeneyes: I can vouch for it! It is wonderful. A perfect beach scent! I like it better than my new Nars oil.

peej: I bought the Nars too.
I had to get it. I could not fight the tempation.

lotionbarbunny: OMG! People love etailers on that board. They love them so much that they sometimes overload them with orders...and send them out of business. If you ever join MUA again...my handle is annieytown. I hang out on the fragrance board.

Great description, Annie! I must try this one.

And you must try the new Bond, "Fire Island" - it's the best beach scent I've sniffed in a long time!

I love the body oil and have ordered the original scent. The oil is better than any monoi oil, including NARS, which I also wear.

K: Tbone tried Fire Island several months ago and proclaimed it to be the very best beach scent. I know I will be smitten. I can not wait till Patti gets it! I swear Laurice is on fire. Each scent keeps getting better and better.
I guess we are allowed to start the Fire Island lemming. I got my wrists slapped when I mentioned it months ago.
Everyone: Fire Island is going to be HUGE! It is the best beach scent ever! Start stalking Saks now! This is my #1 lemming!
Whew. That felt good!

Hi Cait:
I am glad that you mentioned the original scent! Now I am curious about it! The notes sound so darn good.
I agree about this being better than the Nars oil. I have both and I find myself reaching for the Estee more.

Barbie: Late to this post!
It is a scented oil. I use it alone and not with any scent. I am sure you could mix it with another tropical scent like Monyette Paris.
Test it and see what you think.
