Elizabeth Arden Limited Edition Shadow palettes
I learned about the special edition Elizabeth Arden eyeshadow quads from dear Cavewoman. She had received it as a birthday gift from a person with great style and taste. She raved about the quality of the eyeshadows and the stunning case. I was excited because I am a sucker for a stunning compact. However I was unprepared for just how STUNNING these really were.
First off lets talk about the shadows. These are very wearable. They deliver on their promise of crease resistant color that lasts throughout the day. The colors are rich but not highly pigmented. It gives a subtle wash to the eye. The colors range from lovely muted plums to rich brown suedes that make you regret that you bought the Bobbi Brown chocolate palette.
The quad compact designs were reproduced from a 14 panel mural that was commissioned by Miss Arden in 1935. It was created by the artist Clara Fargo Thomas. The panels celebrated the beauty of women throughout the ages. Each compact shows "a vignette from the mural and features a woman who represented the ultimate beauty of her time". The sueded brown compact features Queen Nefertiti of Egypt. The velvet plumtones compact features MumTaz Mahal who was the inpsiration of the Taj Mahal. The neutal cashmere compact honors the twentieth century woman. This is composite of a woman from the 1930's. Very old movie star glamour. The compact is worthy of being owned by Joan Crawford herself!
These compacts are priced at $30 at your local Elizabeth Arden counter. They are limited editions....which is code for run and grab these before they are sold out.

I love EA shadows - they're really underrated, I think. Great texture to them, and lots of good neutral choices.
You guys and those compacts!! You're killing me - you know that right? I'm gonna go flat broke here if I keep seeing them all, A!
I saw those when I bought the Double Intrique Lipstick/Lipgloss and I didn't try any of them because I was in a hurry! I've never tried any EA shadows. Me & my mom go to Dayton about once a month to do some shopping, hopefully they wil have some left. I try to be a smart shopper. Ya know? I don't want to be the girl who buys a compact because of the outside of it, but I usually am:) Since katiedid mentioned that the eyeshadows are great, now I have an excuse other then the outside:)
Also: I've changed my name from MissMelissa, since there's already one on this site, to MissTomFord. I haven't come across anybody using that one, yet.
Beautiful compacts and products that deliver, a perfect combination! and thanks to PattyG who gifted me with the lovely MumTaz.
Arden gets little press these days in the editorial pages of all of the magazines, but there are so many worthy products in that line. I would highly recommend the Mousse makeup, too, it is a beautiful foundation.
How lovely! I already own some EA shadows in similar colors and they're pretty good.
I want the Nefertiti and the MumTaz Mahal palette very much... but esp. the Nefertiti one...!!
Sigh...
Katie: I wore the sueded brown quad today and received so many compliments. The shadows are damn good. Lasted very well in this god awful Ohio heat.
Miss Tom Ford: You need to test these the next time you visit the counter. This is a very great product. The shadows are great and the packaging is stunning. It is amazing that these are not sold out yet. If these were at a MAC counter....they would have been sold out and selling for $100 on Ebay.
Patti: This should have been featured in Lucky or Shop Etc. This is a find.
Thanks to the P's(cavewoman and Pattyg) for this discovery.
Non-blonde: I am converted. I had no idea how good they were.
Koneko: CAVE!
I know I have been spending your money-LOL(YSL glosses, La Mer) but this is stunning product.
My co-worker Sandy is heading over to get the Neferiti one this week.
PattyG: I wish we had an Ulta.
I owe you many thanks for the intro to this product. It is amazing.
Was it Allure,Lucky or Shop etc? I bet it was Shop. They are very good at beauty picks.
these are so cute. I cannot decide which one I want more!
LOL! At least you are spending my money on very NICE things! ;-)
I'm on it--I'm gonna call El-Bee in Huber Heights tomorrow and have Mandy hold one for me 'till Thursday. I feel like the S.A. at the other counters give me the eye when I make my monthly shopping trip down there. Like they're waiting for me to come to their counter. If I don't, then they go out of their way to say "Hi", like you don't see them standing there waiting. Makes me feel bad. At least until I get home and sort through my receipts:) Ever happen to you? I think they are really bad about that at the Dayton Mall, which is why me & my mom usually go to Huber Heights. They even carry the Tom Ford Azuree line! We always stop in Piqua on the way home, their ElBee has great events. They even had the Lancome Diagnosis Machine at their last one. I was so pissed off, I went to two Lancome events, (Huber Heights & Lima) both pre-paid, just to have "read" my skin. Neither one had it, you know who did? Friggin' Piqua! So pissed! The only one I din't go to, only because I din't think they were gonna have the machine. It turned out O.K. 'cause the esthetician was amazing and I got the Resurface Peel done at each. But then I turned around and bought the kit. Twice. I just can't help it:)
Dinah: It is hard.
I have to say the Nefertiti is my personal favorite so far.
Koneko: I am very good at spending other people's money. It is a gift really. LOL
MissTomForde: Which one did you get?
O! I have been looking for some nice plums. This looks perfect! (Still happy that I got my BB Choco Palette though.....and the duo lip gloss, and the concealer palette, and the taupe eye pencil, and......)
lol
Ladies, this is off topic, but do you have any recs for e/s in purples & lavenders? I'm not talking about dark wine/plum. I hope to find something that I can line with mostly. (I prefer e/s to line with.) Something in about a medium depth of color. Light shimmer is fine. Any recs would be most appreciated. Thanks. This is a great blog.
I've been looking on and off for a bit now. I have golden/olive/tan skin and very dark brown eyes. I'd Really like a small palette if possible.
Victoria: I am late to this comment. I will work on an answer for you.
Lauren: I am so glad to be of service! I get so excited when someone states that they "caved" because of a post. It makes me happy.
I love all three and am hoping that they continue to make more. I would love to see a new one come out once a year.
pattyg: I am hoping they consider making more.
I think it would be a wonderful product that can come out during the Xmas season. A great gift idea.
