Actress and Filmmaker Signs Her First Major Beauty Campaign
This afternoon Drew Barrymore was ceremoniously unveiled as the newest face of CoverGirl Cosmetics. The star and filmmaker will not only find herself in front of the camera launching new products for the company, but also behind the camera as a co-creative director of her first TV commercial for the Brand.
“I am honored to be associated with a brand that has been at the forefront of its industry for almost fifty years,” Barrymore said. “CoverGirl has managed to change with the times, yet stay in touch with women of all ages and backgrounds. To be chosen not only as the newest face of CoverGirl, but to be given the opportunity to be a co-creative director of my first TV commercial is truly amazing.”
A beloved actress and gifted filmmaker, Drew emulates the iconic image of the CoverGirl brand with her fresh, natural beauty, and energetic yet authentic spirit. Her carefree, upbeat personality shines through in all that she does.
“Drew is a wonderful addition to the CoverGirl family and her role – both in front of the camera and behind the scenes as co-creative director – is new and different for the cosmetics industry,” said Esi Eggleston Bracey, Vice President and General Manager, CoverGirl Cosmetics in North America. “We wanted to honor Drew’s passions as a filmmaker and are thrilled she is not only lending her beautiful face to CoverGirl but also lending her artistic talents as the co-creative director of the ad campaign.”
Barrymore represents the CoverGirl ideals of both inner and outer beauty. She has been recognized for her sense of style, appearing on top magazine covers and is also an avid volunteer with the United Nations World Food Program.
Barrymore’s national print and TV ad campaigns will break in January 2008. This is the first major beauty contract for the actress. She joins CoverGirl spokesmodels Queen Latifah, Christie Brinkley, Keri Russell, Molly Sims and Rihanna as the newest face of the Brand.

"Actress and Filmmaker Signs Her First Major Beauty Campaign"
I seem to remember a Lancome campaign around 1999 or 2000. Perhaps I'm mistaken, though.
Your right!
She did do a Lancome ad. I remember coveting the eyeshadow.
I am guessing that this deal is a multi-year contract that will include commercials with some ad work.
I really like Covergirl's choices. I think Rhianna is beyond stunning.
Like a young Tyra.
Personally, I am just a wee bit dissapointed. While beautiful and stunning as always (much like Rihanna), Drew looks like she's had a bit of a nip/tuck of late(my guess is a rhinoplasty accompanied by cheek implants). I'm no Covergirl fan, yet I wish the company would pick more natural looking models (although the abysmal failure of Dana Owens eponymous 'Queen Collection' might make them think again).
Drew modeled twice for Lancome, right after Gucci Westman was appointed Creative director. She did the 2005 s/s (Summer in the French Riviera) and f/w (Rose Mystére) make-up collections. If that's not a major beauty campaign, than I don't know what is. Especially that Cover Girl is minor brand compared to Lancome's global presence.
I am guessing that this is a contract that spans years instead of a campaign. This is just my guess and I am not privy to any info.
Drew has been looking beyond amazing. I never thought she had work but thought her recent breakup inspired her to take extra care and effort with her appearance. She has never looked better.
Speaking of Lancome...talk to me about the eyeshadow Erica F/Nicole? Does anyone have it? It is my #1 lemming.
I think I do:) I threw the box away and the writing on the back of the shadow came off, but I'm pretty sure it's called Erika F. It's a brown-grey with gold sparkles from the Urban Eve collection of 4 yrs ago. Is that one it?
I loved that collection, one of the last ones from Fred Farrugia, shades of grey for the eyes and red lips inspired by Helmut Newton. I loved his colors and products, Gucci Westman is nowhere near his creativity.
Anyways do get that shadow, it's one of my favourites, really unique and my color description doesn't do justice. Perfect for creating a smokey eye. Is it in the permanent line now? One of the shadows in this year winter collection was an almost exact dupe by the way (so much about Gucci W ...).
I guess Drew will be a guest eventually on a future season of ANTM since she will be representing cover girl.
Drew has matured beautifully, seems to have conquered her demons, and she's never looked prettier or more confident. I'm delighted to see this news!
I don't think she's had anything done. We've just watched her grow up from a little round-faced child to a woman, and naturally her face would change and mature.
I'm totally with Patti on this one! I love Drew, and I grew up watching HER grow up, and it's been wonderful to see her develop into a gorgeous, sweet, funny, talented, and kind person. I'm totally digging it.
Somewhere among the billions of photos I have stored in the shed are a number of shots I took of Drew for a film she made with Alan Pakula.
We were decorating the set and realized we didn't have any snapshots of Drew ... So I went out with her and we took some shots - she was barely a teenager then but she was stunning and I'm happy to see her look so great and land this job!
