Questions to Blogdorf: Waterproof Mascara
Molly from Florida needs a mascara that is waterproof that will give her volume. She wants a full lash without a mess.
I have a mascara dilemma and I travel counter to counter and can't seem to solve it but I thought your and your team at BG might be able to help. I love the look that Dior Maximeyes gives my lashes -- fuller as though there are more individual lashes but still soft (no spider legs). I don't want them longer, just fuller. But it doesn't come in waterproof and I use eyedrops for contacts about every hour or so (so I really need wp).
She has tried layering with no success.

For me Bare Escentuals i.d Weather Everything Waterproof Mascara is tops.
Hands down... this lasts forever, never flakes and is really gentle on the lashes.
How about Lancome Hypnose in waterproof? Also, how about Max Factor Volume Couture in waterproof?
Eva and Anon -- Thanks so much! I have not tried the BE or Hypnose. I'll give them a try!!
Annie -- You are wonderful to post and get me help! Thanks again! Love love love the blog! You are the only one I check daily -- and you make BG is so worth it!! Molly
My sis is really enamored of Bourjois' Pump up the Volume one - and her eyes are fairly sensitive from seasonal allergies (well, mostly only at this time of year) and wearing contacts. I rather liked the effect the Smashbox lash primer had for giving a bit of water-resistance to my regular mascara (the YSL Volume) but that's a bit of extra trouble to go to, which may be annoying to some folks.
If you're interested in sticking with your preferred mascara, Urban Decay makes something called Lingerie and Galoshes for lashes. One end is a primer (with fibers), the other end is a waterproofer. It's clear and won't weigh down your lashes.
Just a thought :)

I have had troubles with mascras for ages. I can really put them thru there paces. When Cover Girl went to a smudge free formula years ago, they worked really well. never ran. they triple aquastay was great, but the new exact ones work super too.
also, I haven't tried it yet, but Chanel has Imitable in waterproof.
The Bourjois mentioned earlier are super as well. Good luck
As a contacts-wearing gal, I feel your pain. I didn't wear mascara for years (luckily, my lashes are pretty nice naturally) until... last year. I like Blinc's Kiss Me mascara a LOT. It's a little tricky to put on, but it won't come off until you want it to.
Of course, for a cheaper alternative, Covergirl's Lash Exact now comes in a nice waterproof formula and the brush really does work well.
Max Factor 2000 Calorie Waterproof! It is amazing.
Katie: I haven't been to the Bourjois counter in a long time. Wonderful reason to check it back out!
Diet: A primer and wp in one tube?! Be still my heart! Thanks!
Alchem: Love your blog too! My DH thanks you for reminding me about drugstore options ;] (now off to the Chanel counter!!).
You chicas rock!! Molly
Good question! I haven't found one either. My other problem with mascara is I curl my lashes and then when I put the mascara on lashes all go straight and so once the mascara dries I have to curl them again which I think makes the mascara flake. Anyone else have this problem?
How about something like Kiss Me Mascara that creates tubules is waterproof and never flakes.
Thanks everybody for the recs!
Anon: I have the same problem. I have poker straight lashes that resist all curling techniques.
The best mascaras I have used is Max Factor's Volume Couture and Chanel's Inimitable.
I feel your PAIN! I have the same problem with straight lashes. This morning, I curled my lashes & used Max Factor Volume Couture. I'm looking in the mirror now & my lashes still look straight. What do you do?
Do you recurl lashes after mascara dries? It sticks to the eyelash curler & I am afraid I will lose all my eyelashes.
I like WP Lancome Hypnose, except it's a little flaky, if I rub my eyes. Otherwise, loads of volume and doesn't budge. What I've been using lately is Lancome lash primer and Tarte's Lights, Camera, Splashes (which has kitschy-cute denim packaging). My lashes are full (Hypnose, still has more volume), but natural-ish and doesn't smudge for a very long time (again, I'm an eye-rubber). Am not a fan of Urban Decay's double ended thing. The top coat was goopily wet and the basecoat was much too fibrous to be of use.
Just thought I would add my "can't live without" waterproofer...It's Clarins mascara sealer. It is not thick or goopy, application is a breeze, and it is totally invisible. Since I put mascara on my bottow lashes, I apply the sealer to the top AND bottom of my lower lashes..works like a charm!! Available at my home away from home...Saks! Barb
what is the best curling mascara out there?
Hi out there! Someone said earlier "try Max Factor waterproof Volume Couture mascara" to a person looking for a good waterproof mascara. I've been looking for that specific waterproof mascara all week and can only find it in the regular formula. Anyone know where I can get the waterproof version? I live in Boca raton FL. Thanks! A.T.
