40 Days and 40 Nights of Beauty Cult Classics
Day 34, Bobbi Brown's Chocolate Palette

"If you are not feeling well, if you have not slept, chocolate will revive you. But you have no chocolate! I think of that again and again! My dear, how will you ever manage?" - Marquise de Sévigné

The Bobbi Brown Chocolate Eye Palette was my first dip into the BB world. I was going through a heavy MAC and Nars phase.
I always skipped my local Bobbi Brown counter because it looked boring and safe. I was not ready for the life of neutrals.
I wanted to be a Nars girl forever.

My friend Shawn was the one that encouraged me to cave on the Chocolate Palette.
He felt that it would be a great addition to my shadow collection since I did not own one brown shade.
The palette contains workhorse shades called Bone, Caramel Toffee Shimmer Wash, Frappe, Champagne Truffle Shimmer Wash, Cacao Shimmer Wash, Stone and Chocolate. I hit pan with Bone and Cacao Shimmer Wash.
This small step into browns created a lemming monster.
Today I have a huge drawer filled with neutrals.

"Love is like swallowing hot chocolate before it has cooled off. It takes you by surprise at first, but keeps you warm for a long time." - Anonymous

That is what I feel about Bobbi Brown and brown eyeshadows. You resist them...but they managed to win your heart in the end.
Let me know what you think of the palette in the comments.

Do you ever use the Fresh palettes? The color combinations are great (I never would have thought to pair vanillas, golds and turquoise blues); their packaging is collection-worthy; and I love their names. My new favorite? Roman Holiday.

They're great for gifts too - my cousin gets me the new palette every Christmas.

Oh, I think this palette is just beautiful! Such rich, elegant colors..I need to check out BB counter next time. I am the same way - move past BB straight to NARS. BTW, Nars makes one beautiful warm brown called Lola Lola. Have you tried it? For more cool-toned NARS brown, I am on my second pan of Ashes to Ashes.
Love Vosges, too. I like their chocolate with Indian spices (forgot the name). OK, now I need some chocolate!

I came in to say what Always In Style had to say: Vosges chocolate!! The matcha one you have in the picture is delicious (and I'm a green tea fanatic).

I only have the BB Gold Shimmer Brick (back when Gloss.com was around, sigh!); I knew about the Chocolate palette craze, and certainly looked for it, but it was all gone by the time I tried... and I didn't pick up the little mini Chocolate palette (double-layer, with lip gloss) they did this past year, either.

I really want to like BB eyeshadows but they just don't go on well on my lids. LM blends much better than BB for me.

I want to be a NARS girl forever too! I use Chanel for my neutrals - I love the brown shade in the Winter Nights quad.

I love the Bobbi Brown palette so much that I bought two. One is almost gone, therefore I will be starting on the 2nd soon. I like Vosges as well and actually attending a yoga and chocolate workshop with a guy who partners with Vosges.

sadly, browns are not a neutral i can wear. for some reason, everything brown makes my eyes look swollen. greys, though, i die for. i still have one of the large pans of Bobbi Brown grey, which is my go-to for any matte look.

Beautiful palette. I heard they sold old and were selling on ebay for almost $200!

I never understood why this palette was called "chocolate" when most of the shades in it seem to be in the light-beigey family.

Does Blogdorf have an RSS feed, Annie? And if not, would you consider creating one?
