Chanel Antilope
Review By Melanie Parker
Chanel's latest Limited Edition (LE) neutral nail lacquer is Antilope. At first, I was shocked that a color called Antilope would be in the 2008 Summer makeup line. But then I remembered the photographs of Coco Chanel's apartment that were posted here on Blogdorf Goodman, and Chanel's collection of stags, and the name had a new found symbolism to me. Antilope seemed like a chic neutral that is destined to be a classic and like so many LE nail lacquers from Chanel before it, I was afraid that it was bound to go waitlist or sellout if I didn't act quickly
Antilope looked like a golden brown that flashed bronze in some of the swatches that I'd seen online, so I was intrigued. The other nail lacquer in this color story is a typical bright pink called Flamingo. I love a bright pink pedicure in the summer as much as the next girl, but I'll take an OPI, China Glaze, or even go to my local Walgreen's and check out the Sinful display and get one for a fraction of the price.
Antilope is lighter than it appears in promotional photographs. It's not too golden, so I think it works well with cool and warm skin tones. It's has a pearly luster to it. I am not sure it was worth the $19 price tag, as I don't find that Chanel polishes last longer than other salon formula polishes, but I do think it offers a chic and very wearable color.

has this particular collection been released yet?
Do you like it better than Chanel Delice? I'm quite taken with Delice and the bottle looks similar but I think it looks different as I see it on your nails.
Also, I am growing my nails out and would love some tips on how to care for them, tools I should purchase and anything else you think is important. Maybe it would make a good piece for blogdorfgoodman as I'm sure there are others out there that would love your advice!
Oooo! I'm heading out to check out the new mascara this weekend! Thanks for the tip!
Love your blog!
I think this is a beautiful, elegant and very wearable shade. I would love to get it. But you are right, Chanel polishes do not last as long as OPIs or other salon brand. And emerald mascara? Wow! Can't wait to see it in person.
i love that collection, flamingo is very cute for toes :)
storybook heroine, I used to be an avid nail biter and now have really long (but tasteful) nails that i absolutely adore. the biggest tip i can give you is to always keep your nails painted, and painted well...
i found it hard (not only beause it tasted disgusting) to bit my nails when they looked good, and short nails look good with polish too (essie mademoiselle in particular) also a good hand cream applied at night and throughout the day helps cuticles
i hope you read this tip, because it REALLY helps me :)

That is a good question about Delice and Antilope. They have different finishes: Antilope is a glowing pearl finish (no brush strokes, so it's not a typical frost) and Delice is sheerer and shimmery. Also, the base of Delice is yellower, which I do not find attractive on nails. It looks like staining to me. I think yellow-toned creams are really wearable on darker skin tones, but on me it looks like staining. I had the same problem with butter LONDON Eastender and Boys in the Bottle Claude 9.
I think the model for this photo had a really lousy manicure - cuticles need a lot of work, honey!
LOL! I'm not a model. I was just swatching the color for the purpose of the review. But thanks for the critique of my cuticles, honey!
Wow, that's the first bitchy comment I've seen in a beauty blog. That makes me sad.
As for the polish itself, it's pretty but I just can't bring myself to like sheer, light neutral polishes. I think it's my inner 13 year old demanding pink and orange and purple all the time. I'm wearing a mature vamp-like red at the moment and even that's a little tasteful for my liking.
Also, is it true that Chanel polishes chip like crazy?
OMG you have to be joking Melanie has the most perfect nails I have ever seen. I wish mine looked half that good ! Thanks for doing all the swatches Melanie it really helps seeing what the polish looks like on the nail.

yeah, in my experience it chipped very quickly and easily.
Oh! I really love Chanel's beauty products. I never try that Antilope before, so I want to try it now. Thanks for sharing.
