CHANEL Goes Grellow

By Melanie Parker

I’ve been on a break from my typical dark nails this autumn. There’s a bevy of beautiful new colors out by OPI, Orly, and China Glaze, but I’ve been playing it demure with pale pinks and and occasional mid-toned plum. I got engaged last month and it’s been all about the diamond ring. I’ve named her Juliette. My beau bought her for me and bought himself a Chromebook at the same time, so we named his purchases Chromeo and Juliette. We are dorks like that. This is just further proof that there really is someone out there for everyone, girls! And, yes, I’m pretty sure my Juliette is French, so I tarted up the spelling. But it wouldn’t be Halloween without a fun and flashy color like Chanel Peridot, no matter how much her golden metallic clashes with Juliette.

I have to admit that when I hear CHANEL is doing a duochrome or a green, I have to snap it up — sight unseen. They become so rare and hard to find, and I like to encourage the company to keep producing avant-garde colors.
Despite the name, this color isn’t the traditional lime green of the August birthstone. It’s got that iridescence that makes it flash yellow, green, and blue depending on the way the light hits it. Nail lacquer lovers refer to these flashy colors as duochromes. The metallic finish is always tricky to apply without showing brushstrokes, but this formula was easy for me to apply in thin coats. It is a big formula improvements from the Chanel polishes released last year, which were thicker and left drag marks along my cuticle line.

In the bottle, Peridot shows an acid green hue, which is why I think it is a good choice for Halloween. However, on the nail, it goes on more grellow (a golden yellow with just a hint of green). Disappointing. I wanted a heavier blue flash with Peridot to soothe my cool-toned skin. But if you have a dark, olive, or warm golden skin tone, I think you cold totally rock this with black or olive clothes and the green would really pop in the most fabulous of ways.

Chanel already has a chameleon polish with Kaleidoscope, which transitions from a golden beige to green, and I think it is better suited to my coloring. Here are some comparison pictures of the two polishes together.

What’s your go-to color for Halloween? I lean toward greens and black creme, but OPI Music Hall Curtain Call is a lovely pumpkin foil finished polish.

Octopus Garden: Springtime with Chanel

I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden in the shade
(The Beatles)

I have been slightly obsessed and enamored with the Chanel show. Everything from the octopus garden set to that Aurora Borealis white sequined jacket that will most likely wind up in the closet of Rachel Zoe.  Pearls peppered the model's hair and face.  It was a new level of pretty.

That Lovely Face
A new Chanel foundation is arriving in April 2012 called Vitalumiere Aqua Fresh and Hydrating Cream Compact Makeup SPF 15. The rest of the village that created that flawless complexion was Poudre Universelle Libre Natural Finish Loose Powder, Eclat Lumiere Highlighting Face Pen and Correcteur Perfection Long Lasting Concealer.
The blush, Glowing Blush Harmony, will be available in January. Just a touch of peach.

The Eyes Have It!
Illusion D'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Fantasme and Emerveillé
Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner in Ebène
Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in Clair
Crayon Sourcils Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil
Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Black
Ecourbe Cils De Chanel Precision Eyelash Curler

Our Lips Are Sealed
Rouge Coco Baume Hydrating Conditioning Lip Balm (available January 2012)
Levres Scintillantes Glossimer in Plaisir (available March 2012)

The Future Lemmings
As always...Chanel nail polishes look like a breath of fresh air. June appears to look like a soft apricot shade.  A conch shell underbelly could have been the inspiration.
Le Vernis Nail Colour in April (available January 2012)
Le Vernis Nail Colour in May (available January 2012)
Le Vernis Limited Edition Nail Colour in June (available January 2012).
The pearly white nail shade featured on some models was created for the runway show.  I wish I could find a more detailed shot.  Did I detect an aurora borealis vibe?

You can see the nail polishes on the blog of Lisa Eldridge.

Kirsten Dunst Wears Chanel Makeup At Cannes

I was watching Interview with a Vampire on the Syfy channel. I forgot how magnificent Kirsten Dunst was as Claudia, the child vampire. She was bewitching. Her career has had its moments. But I never doubted that she would survive and return in glory. Kirsten is getting rave reviews for her role in Melancholia. She has also won the best actress award at the Cannes film festival. During the media firestorm concerning the director's "bat*hit crazy" comments, Kiki handled herself with dignity and grace. Her makeup was flawless. That is a foundation that does not budge! The makeup artist was Sabrina Bedrani and she used Chanel makeup.

For Kirsten’s first red carpet appearance at Cannes, Sabrina used CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige Rosé Tendre to highlight her complexion and CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Écrin (available July 2011) on the cheeks. Sabrina used Illusion D'Ombre de Chanel Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Emerveillé (available July 2011) on the eyelids to create a neutral shimmer, and Precision Eye Definer in Khaki Platine (available July 2011) to define the eyes. To complete the look she used CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir on the eyelashes and applied CHANEL Rouge Allure Lipstick in Enthusiast to the lips.

To complement the award-winning actress’s CHANEL Haute Couture strapless dress, Sabrina created Kirsten’s gorgeous, glowing face using CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Makeup SPF 15 in Beige Rosé Tendre and highlighting her cheeks with CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Écrin (available July 2011), Kirsten’s eyes were adorned with Illusion D'Ombre de Chanel Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadow in Epatant (available July 2011) and her lashes were lengthened with CHANEL Inimitable Intense Mascara in Noir. Sabrina finished the look with CHANEL Rouge Allure Lipstick in Passion.

40 Days and 40 Nights of Fragrance Notes: Grapefruit

Grapefruit Review by Patti F

When it comes to fruity notes in fragrances, I like stone fruits like plum and peach. I've never been a fan of big citrus notes, especially lemon-peel types. Maybe the proliferation of lemon notes in household products is what causes me to dislike most citrus scents. I especially dislike lime notes in scents, although I love the taste of fresh lime and I use it often in cooking and just floating slices in a glass of water.

But as always with perfumes, there is an exception, and for me it's a big one. I absolutely love a good grapefruit note in a scent. I reach for these when Spring arrives and sometimes in the dead of Winter too, when it's just been too long since we had a warm sunny day, and my spirits need a lift. Lift is what grapefruit does best. Juicy, fizzy, happy, optimistic, the grapefruit note sparkles on the top of some of my most beloved scents. Here today I will do a little Show And Tell for you about my favorite grapefruit fragrances.

My first encounter with a real grapefruit-based scent was Yves Saint Laurent's In Love Again. I was attracted to the cute harlequin design on the cap, because I'm a visually-oriented person, and packaging is important to me. It is the first part of a perfume encounter, we're attracted by our eyes before the scent gets out of the bottle. I had never owned such a happy scent! In Love Again blends the grapefruit with apple, rose, and white florals on a light musk base. It is just as optimistic as its name, hinting forward, not looking back. And believe me, I surely do not want to look back at the past Winter! In Love Again is the nicest companion to greeting Spring. I am sad that the harlequin cap is no longer available on this scent. The other In Love Again that I own is Fleur De La Passion, beautiful with the addition of star anise, peony, and sandalwood with other fruits and a touch of vanilla. And the bottle shape, a heart which only appears when viewed from above, seems to reinforce the love theme. It's love from above! YSL has a way with bottles, as seen in the toy spinning-top Baby Doll, another grapefruit based scent. It's a playful presentation for a youthful and playful scent.

It's no secret to Blogdorf readers that I love Lancome fragrances. Although Miracle does not list grapefruit as one of its notes, I know it's in there! This is my third bottle of Miracle. It's a staple in the Summertime. Spiced up a bit with pepper and ginger, it's lush and zingy and I never get tired of it.
Juicy Couture's Couture Couture (can anyone please explain the name? the name?) is a grapefruit-white floral scent with a gorgeous base of sandalwood. I have to admit that I like all of the Juicy scents, although I am sure that as a 60 year old Grandma, I'm not quite their target audience!

Two of my grapefruit loves came from Bergdorf Goodman many years ago. Friends of mine may remember a presentation of Quelques Fleurs Royale one morning in the Bergdorf Cafe. We had heard of the launch by Houbigant and so many of us were eager to try it. Right during the presentation I stuck out my wrist to the company representative who was holding the bottle and talking about the rich history of Houbigant perfumes. I was too eager to try it to be embarrassed about my bold move. I bought it that day, and I'm on my third bottle of this exquisite, sophisticated floral blend. On another visit to the perfume counters at Bergdorf, I spotted the adorable round pink Lulu Guinness Pink Pearls tester, and I tried it. Love! Lush with pink grapefruit and apricot nectar, a heart of pink tulip and orange flower, and a base of tonka bean, amber and sandalwood, Pink Pearls is sweet and foody without being the least bit heavy or cloying. My Bergdorf fragrance SA told me they were sold out. He'd call me when the perfume was back in stock. I did not wait for the call. I ordered two bottles from a Canadian ebay seller. My Bergdorf buddy never did call.

Bond No. 9 is one of my favorite fragrance brands. The Scent Of Peace is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside, a grown-up grapefruit with a light lily-of-the-valley note, and blackcurrant, cedarwood, and musk. It is worn by both men and women, but I'm not sharing what's left of my bottle with my man. He has his own Bonds, including the iconic subway token bottle of Eau De New York. It reminds me of many happy rides through Manhattan in the similarly-clad Bondmobile! My husband has come a long way in his taste in fragrances. When we met, he wore only one scent, Jovan Musk For Men. I'm happy to report that he never wears that one any more. And most days, he reaches for a Bond.

The husband and I both have new Chanels to love, both of which have grapefruit notes. His is Bleu De Chanel, which I gave him for his last birthday which coincided with the launch of Bleu at our local counter. Peppery and rich with vetiver, incense, ginger and sandalwood, I wear this one too. I know you're thinking it's not fair of me to wear his and not let him wear mine. Just a little tidbit of info, the cap is magnetized so that the CC's always line up side to side with the shape of the bottle. Go see for yourself at the men's fragrance bar of your local store!

A few weeks ago, I was talking to my lovely Chanel SA, Chris, at her counter. We were discussing the impending launch of a new group of lipsticks, but I was distracted. What WAS she wearing! Her fragrance was something I'd never smelled before. She told me it was Chance Eau Tendre. How did this scent escape me? I thought I knew all of the Chanel scents and all of their nuances between concentrations, but I did not know Eau Tendre. I sprayed, I sniffed, I bought. With the fizz of grapefruit on the top, a heart of the jasmine that is so important to most of Chanel's scents, iris and hyacinth as if to bring Spring a little closer, and base notes of musk, amber and cedar, Chance Eau Tendre is my newest Chanel love. It made me forget all about the new lipsticks.
I can't stop wearing it and I know it won't be long before I have to purchase the larger size.

Do you love a grapefruit note in your fragrances? Do you have a favorite? Tell us all about them!

Blue Valentine: Michelle Williams in Chanel

Michelle Williams in Chanel 2011 Spring/Summer Haute Couture
Makeup Artist Jeanine Lobell

Beauty Inspiration: "My inspiration was Michelle’s stunning CHANEL 2011 Spring/Summer Haute Couture gown. The dress represented Michelle’s personality - ethereal and sparkling.”

Jeanine Lobell----“Michelle’s skin is so fresh and beautiful. I applied CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra Light Skin Perfecting Makeup in B10, which allows her skin to shine though the makeup, creating a fresh look. I set the makeup with CHANEL Natural Finished Press Pressed Powder in Translucent 1.
For eyes, we went for a light, ethereal smoky look mixing the shades in the CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Smoky Eyes. I used the silvery shade as a base, and then used the pewter shade, taking it from the lash line up into the crease, adding shape to the eye. I then smudged the same shade in the lower lash line. I used the black shade, blended into the pewter, as a liner. I applied a few individual lashes in the center, and a lot of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in Noir on the top and bottom. I used the CHANEL Precision Brow Definer in Blond Claire to define the brow.
To create a glowing pink cheek, I applied CHANEL Blush Duo Tweed Effect in Pink Tweed. I mixed her lip colour, CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in Rose Dentelle, with a bit of the Vitalumiere Aqua foundation, which creates the effect of the lips blending into the face.”

A women who doesn't wear perfume has no future

The Secret Of Chanel No. 5: The Intimate History Of The World's Most Famous Perfume
by Tilar J. Mazzeo

Book Review by MUA's Cavewoman

Mystery, intrigue, royalty, politics, art, fashion, world history, smuggling, illicit love affairs, science, secrecy, and one young woman's personal history and vision are poured into a simple glass bottle almost 90 years ago. The remarkable story of that young woman, and the perfume she envisioned at the dawn of modern 20th century, are intertwined in this fascinating book which is partly a biography of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, and partly a biography of the famous fragrance she created, Chanel No. 5. The two cannot be separated. This story is as much about the survival of an abandoned child and her struggle to find love and respectability as it is about the survival of her life's enduring masterpiece, the fragrance she spent years in creating. What we buy today in the Chanel No. 5 bottle is as close to the original formula as it could possibly be, according to Mazzeo and her sources. What happens between the idea of a revolutionary
new kind of fragrance, in the mind of Chanel, and your brand-new bottle of Chanel No. 5, is the Secret told in Mazzeo's book.

Coco Chanel set out from the orphanage where she was raised, at the age of 17, to take a position as a seamstress in a tailor's shop in pre-war France. She was pretty and attracted many men, who took her to the cabaret clubs where she eventually became a performer and chanteuse. She became a mistress to several wealthy men, but fell in love with the one who could never marry her, because of her risque past. This is Arthur "Boy" Capel, the love of her life, who eventually married a "respectable" woman, and died in a car crash shortly after that. It appears from the book that Chanel never recovered from this loss. She never married, and she never had children. She threw herself into the creation of what she wanted to be a modern perfume, unlike the soliflores that were worn by the socialites. She wanted it to smell clean, like Boy smelled to her. She was intrigued by the scents of the demi-mondaines, the young cabaret performers and less-respected women who wore sweet, heavy jasmine scents. Her perfume would bridge the two worlds of the risque and the respectable. After Boy's death, she took another lover, an exiled Russian prince, who helped her in her mission by telling her of a magical scent that he remembered from his younger days in the royal court. He introduced Chanel to the perfumer. And the creation began. The perfumer was Ernest Beaux.

From the launch of the finished formula for Chanel No. 5 to the present, this story carries the reader through two world wars, through two continents, and anchors itself in the most important geographical location that is essential to the fragrance itself, the jasmine fields of Grasse, France. It is astonishing that Chanel No. 5 survived through the years. Mlle Chanel signed away most of the rights to her fragrance, and spent over fifty years fighting to get it back. During World War II, the primary owners of the company fled to the United States, where they set up anufacturing Chanel No. 5 with jasmine concrete that they smuggled out of Grasse. In essence, they protected the fragrance, preserving it thoughout the most difficult of circumstances, until the end of the war, when manufacturing was restored to France.

As I began reading this book, I could not help but run upstairs to my perfume cabinet and take out my small bottle of Chanel No. 5 parfum.
I put it on the table in front of me as I was reading. I kept looking at it. I dabbed the fragrance on my wrists. I inhaled it as eagerly as I was inhaling page after page of this amazing history. I wanted to understand what Mlle Chanel was trying to convey with this liquid. I wanted to understand what she wanted and what she achieved. I've loved Chanel No. 5 ever since I borrowed a spray or two of it from my sister's bottle, when I was 14 years old. Back then, to me it was just a pretty scent, unusual, a bit metallic, and much more grown-up than the L'Air Du Temps that I was wearing at the time. I knew there was something incredibly special about it. I had no idea what I was smelling. And now, I do. To wear Chanel No. 5 is to experience the passion and emotion of its creation and its sparkling and enduring beauty. It is at once a true classic and utterly modern.

Pick up this book and go find your bottle or vial of Chanel No. 5, and read and smell the essence of a legend, both woman and scent, truly the world's most famous perfume.

"Go, Speed Racer, Go!"

Miss Keira Knightley and Joe Wright are currently filming a new Coco Mademoiselle campaign at Place de la Concorde in Paris. The inspiration could be Kill Bill or Speed Racer.
I am going with Speed Racer.

Here she comes
Here comes Speed Racer
Shes a demon on wheels
Shes a demon and shes gonna be chasing after someone.

Shes gaining on you so you better look alive.
Shes busy revving up a powerful Mach 5.
And when the odds are against her
And theres dangerous work to do

You bet your life Speed Racer
Will see it through.
Go Speed Racer! Go Speed Racer! Go Speed Racer, Go!

Shes off and flying as she guns the bike around the track
Shes jamming down the pedal like shes never coming back
Adventures waiting just ahead.

I am not going to be the person that I am expected to be anymore

There are many reasons why I can not get enough of this commercial for the new Chanel fragrance called Bleu de Chanel.

1. I have a great weakness for 60's Stones. The song featured is She said Yeah by the Rolling Stones.
It is from December’s Children(And Everybody’s).
2. The man featured is heartbreakingly lovely.
Piercing eyes that see into your soul.
3. There is a homage to Blow Up.

4. There is one scene that looks EXACTLY like Cavewoman's bathroom. Green Venetian glass.
5. Scorsese. That is all.
6. I just sniffed Bleu at my local Chanel counter. It is magnificent. Just a woods explosion. The drydown is mindblowing.

Shanghai Surprise

Chanel's Noir Et Or Paris-Shanghai Makeup Collection

Peter Phillips, Global Creative Director of Chanel Makeup, created an exclusive collection Noir Et Or. The collection was inspired by Shanghai in the 30's and 40's. The twist is the Coco Chanel was never able to visit the east. However, her apartment is filled with objects of art from the Orient. You can see where Mr Phillips sought inspiration for this pre-fall makeup collection.

The black and gold cosmetics perfectly reflect the gilded walls and ebony statues.

Ligne et Ombre de Chanel in Jet-Gold

This duo palette features a matte black liner and a sparkling soft gold eyeshadow. The gold is warm and avoids any brassy undertones.
The palette retails for $45.

There are three nail polishes. One is a matte black called Black Velvet. It retails for $25 and quickly sold out online. (BTW: It has been restocked!)
The other nail lacquers are golds.

Le Vernis Nail Colour in Gold Lame is a creamy, satin gold nail shade. It retails for $25.
Le Vernis Nail Colour in Illusion d'Or is a transparent, sparkling gold filled with shimmer chunks. This packs a serious glimmer punch. Carla from Product Girl successfully layered Black Velvet with Illusion. The shimmer fire was blinding. It retails for $25 and is a "must have".

I layered the gold nail polishes.
I thought it was a fetching nail combination. Very light and summer appropriate. The shimmer caught the sunlight. It survived well throughout the week. The picture below was taken an hour before a new manicure. There was slight wear and tear near the tips.

The products are available online at http://www.chanel.com/ for purchase. This collection never made it to my local Macys store. If you have seen this collection in stores...please let us know in the comments.

The Fabric Of Our Life

Last week, Bergdorf Goodman tweeted about some Lanvin pencils on the 7th floor of the store.
http://twitter.com/bergdorfs

This started an avalanche of lemmings that slowly escalated on the web. Lanvin pencils and notebooks were swooned and gushed over. That fateful day everyone fell in love with a small luxury that was romantic and affordable. We were not clamoring over a shoe or a handbag.
We coveted a lead pencil.

Chanel also has that lovely habit of making a mundane product into a little piece of luxury. Chanel Le Coton is a limited edition set of cotton pads.

That's right.
Cotton pads.

You might dismiss this as just plain silly. You might think that your bag of 200 cotton balls works just fine.

Remember the first time you experienced a "high thread count" bed sheet set? The whispery softness made you wonder how you survived all those years with anything less than a 500 thread count. Suddenly, your sheets feel like sandpaper and you find yourself seeking counts higher than 1000. You start paying attention to white sales. You can never go back to just plain old sheets from Target. You have seen the light. You have tasted just a sampling of higher end linens. Pratesi just might be worth lemming.
http://www.pratesi.com/

Le Coton will change how you look at a cotton ball. The 3 layer pads are made with selected cotton flowers from Australia and Egypt. The finely crafted pads are stamped with the trademarked interlocking C's.
No surprises there.

The outside layers in direct contact with the skin are made with extremely thin, long texturized Egyptian cotton so delicate that it can only be picked by hand, while the middle layer consists of elastic cotton from Australia with excellent absorption capacity.

Le Coton feels like a cloud. I am not waxing poetic here. The softness is jarring enough to make you jump. It was wicked with absorption. No toner product was wasted. That alone makes these cotton pads worth the coin. The pad was sturdy for such a delicate texture. It did not break apart or shed fibers.

It retails for $20.00 for 100 pads per box. Chanel Le Coton is available at Neiman Marcus, Chanel boutiques and chanel.com in June 2010.

Palette Lemming

CHANEL Celebrity Makeup Artist Kate Lee worked with Gemma Arterton at the Los Angeles premiere of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time on Monday, May 17th.

"I prepped Gemma's skin with CHANEL Hydramax + Active Serum. On her eyes, I used a beautiful violet grey shadow from a new palette launching in July- CHANEL Quadra Eye Shadow in Enigma. (I think I need this! It looks like a mouse-like, violet taupe.)

I lined the inside of Gemma's eyes with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Clair, also launching in July. This beige shade is a nice alternative to white - it gives a more modern effect and is not quite as harsh, making the eyes appear wider. Finally, I applied two coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir. I used a generous amount of CHANEL Hydramax + Active Lip Care on her mouth, and added just a bit of CHANEL Rouge Allure Laque in Dynastie for a touch of colour. To complete the look, I applied CHANEL Powder Blush in Fandangoon the apples of her cheeks."

Never Mind The Bullocks

"Did I really earn this, or did I just wear you all down?"

Makeup Artist: Angela Levin

Beauty Inspiration:

"Tonight was Sandra's big night and she was in a happy, ethereal mood. I
wanted her to look like the true movie star she is, so we went with modern
classy Hollywood - dewy skin, soft eyes, and a bold classic red lip."

Beauty Tip:

Angela prepped Sandra's skin with CHANEL Sublimage Fluid. She then used a
foundation brush to apply CHANEL Vitalumiere Satin Smoothing Fluid Makeup
in Shell
all over the face. Angela created a structured brow with the soft
brown powder in the limited edition Les Regards de CHANEL Palette. She
lined Sandra's eyes with the darker brown shade in the same palette.
Finally, she applied three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Waterproof Mascara in
Noir for sexy, glamorous lashes. To create the real focus of Sandra's look
- a gorgeous, bold red lip - Angela applied CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip Colour in
Paris
. She finished the look by gently dabbing a bit of the same lip
colour on the apples of Sandra's cheeks - Angela's signature makeup trick.

Dress: Marchesa

Description: A silver beaded column gown with embroidered illusion bodice

Interesting tidbit: The dress was picked out by Sandra Bullock's oldest stepdaughter.

Hair: OMG....how AMAZING was Sandra Bullocks hair! I dream of having my hair that well behaved and healthy.
Her hair was the result of Fekkai products. I will need to revisit the line after this.

HAIR INSPIRATION:

Adir Abergel wanted to bring back simplicity, with Sandra’s sleek and straight down-do. The strong side part created beautiful lines to compliment her dress. He modernized the texture of the hair by creating a sleek look, with a slight wave at the end.

HOW TO GET THE LOOK: Conditioned hair is very important for any sleek style. Abergel used FEKKAI ADVANCED GLOSSING SHAMPOO AND CONDITONER, leaving the conditioner on for 15 minutes. He then rinsed and towel dried the hair. Then he parted the hair in a deep side part. Adir recommends following the arch of your brow to choose where to part your hair. He then took a large FEKKAI ROUND BRUSH and blow-dried the hair completely straight, making sure the roots were flat. Then spray with FEKKAI SHEER HOLD HAIRSPRAY to 2” sections of hair from roots to the end and use a flat iron to get a bone straight effect. To finish the look, Abergel took a 1 1/4” inch curling iron and lightly curled the ends of the hair for a nice slight wave and tucked the bangs behind the ear. To complete the look he added the FEKKAI SILKY STRAIGHT IRONLESS SMOOTH FINISH SERUM to create a sleek finish.

THE PRODUCTS ALL BY FEKKAI: Fekkai Glossing Shampoo ($23), Fekkai Glossing Conditioner ($23), Fekkai Extra Large Round Brush ($65) Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray ($23), Fekkai Silky Straight Ironless Smooth Finish Serum ($23)

Moonstruck: Amanda Seyfried at the Oscars

La bella luna!
The moon brings the woman to the man.
Capice?

AMANDA SEYFRIED

Makeup Artist: Monika Blunder

Beauty Inspiration:

"The look I was going for Amanda was movie star glamour while maintaining a
young, fresh and modern feel."

Beauty Tip:

For Amanda’s skin, Monika started off moisturizing her with CHANEL
Sublimage Fluid
to give her a natural glow. Then she applied CHANEL Teint
Innocence Foundation in Gentle Ivory
all over her skin. Monika first lined
her upper and lower lash line with CHANEL Intense Eye Pencil in Noir,
extending the line past the outer corner and up. Then she blended with a
brush to soften any hard lines. Next, she applied the darkest colour in the
CHANEL Quadra Eyeshadow in Smoky Eyes starting at lash line and blending up
towards the brow bone using a variation of the lighter colors in the
palette. She finished with CHANEL Soft Touch Eye Shadow in Ivory on the
inner corner of top and bottom lash line. To complete the eyes, she curled
the lashes and applied three coats of CHANEL Inimitable Mascara in Noir.
CHANEL Powder Blush in Rose Petale gave her a fresh rosy glow on her
cheeks.

Amanda’s look was completed by applying CHANEL Rouge Coco Lip
Colour in Perle
.

Dress: Armani Prive

Inspiration for the collection:

"It's about the moon," explained Giorgio Armani before his show. "I always need a hook to get into a collection, and that was it—thinking about something romantic and dreamy, far away from our everyday life. Something less harsh." The lunar references, he pointed out, were poured into luminescent fabrics, curviform cutting, embroideries made to look like the craters of the moon, and a crescent-shaped updo for the hair, which, he smiled, "is also a bit of a joke."
