The Big O
By Melanie Parker
As recently reported here, Nars recently released a Double Orgasm set featuring a Nars Orgasm lip gloss and nail polish set. The Orgasm blush has become a cult classic in the beauty industry, and the company is riding its wave right on to your nails.
The Nars Orgasm nail polish glides over the nail in a peach wash with a captivating gold shimmer. Much like the Orgasm blush, this polish can go into orange territory quickly depending on your skin tone. On me, it looks more peach than orange. On some others, it may even go salmon and look a little pink. The gold shimmer is subtle and elegant.
There is an NYC Glossies #229 polish, which is similar to Nars Orgasm at a fraction of the price at a drug store near you. But other than NYC, I don't think another manufacturer has this color. It is sure to be a hit for tips and toes this summer. I already feel like I have a bit of a tan wearing it today!
I've tried to capture the color in various natural lighting conditions (no flash).
The Nars Double Orgasm set is available for $30 at sephora.com.

I read on another beauty blog (can't remember the name) that Revlon's A Floral Affair blush has a color that is very similar to the Orgasm blush.
Oh, I really like this.
I've never been a fan of Orgasm, but I thought the nail colour would be better. Eh, it looks really cheap and borderline tacky [think late 80's early 90's fluffy prom dresses that were orange metallic fabric]
I really, really, really wanted to like the polish, but have to agree with above comment. On my skin, it was just blech. I felt like it should have been more something - more orange, more pink, more gold, more dark, or more light - it was just all wrong on me. It looks much better on you.
This is pretty. I do think that the MAC fafi one Girls Will Be Girls is close as well. I had a NYX one too that was similar. All are nice for summer and do give that 'Tan" glow :)
My Orgasm set just got here yesterday so I haven't had a chance to try it out yet and I probably still won't be able to try it at least until this weekend. I'm nervous about how it will look with my skin tone because just like with the blush, gloss, and multiple it looks different on everyone. Personally I'm a bigger fan of Deep Throat than Orgasm.
Annie, I think that looks better on your hands than anyone else I've seen it on - it suits you so well!
EEEK, it does NOT look good, there are a gazillion polish colors out there that would be nicer on your nails.
Honestly, I thought the NYC polish was much prettier. A prettier finish and a prettier color overall. I may have to hunt that sucker down.
I'm sorry, but I think that polish is just fantastically bad. I would never wear that. And if this actually looks better than on others, no no no. I will not be trying this!
Thanks for the pics. It really reminds me of OPI Love Me Tender n/p from the All Shook Up Collection of Summer 2005. Here's a link to a pic of the OPI so you can compare:

I'm glad I passed, I don't think that color would look good on those of us unable to achieve a tan. I agree that it should be lighter or pinker or something-er. It doesn't seem special enough for the hype.
Modelizer, you hit the nail on the head. Prom and bridesmaids dresses, circa 80s/90s!
I checked out the NYC #229 and it's a baby, bubble gum pink...doesn't look like the Orgasam color at all.
I did, however, find a clearanced Wet 'N Wild color that looked really similar. However, the color number was picked off - just my luck!
Ally, the NYC 229 is a salmon color that flashes gold when it dries on the nail. It is slightly pinker than Orgasm, but not much.
I'm sorry, but I think it's waay too orange..
:GASP: I must have it! I am completely obsessed with the blush! I love your blog and added you to my blog roll...do you think you could return the favor??? Much love!

Risa: That mani belongs to my friend Mel aka DQ2.
I do not think I will be able to carry off that shade. I tend to do well with cools and brights.
