Mascara Bedlam: New Lancome Mascara For Fall

This press release stopped me in my tracks. Lancome is known for their incredible advances in mascara technology but they might have outdid themselves this time. First, notice the brush. It looks like the rubber wand we have come to love with Max Factor's iFX brush and Chanel's Inimitable mascara.
Add some "rabbit-esque" vibrations...and we might have a mascara that will actually transform my lame lashes.
This is the best news I have heard in quite a long time.

Ôscillation, a unique mascara that provides a 360-degree coat around each and every lash. The vibrating brush provides no fewer than 7,000 vibrations per minute for the perfect formula application. Ôscillation has four patents for technology and formula and was created by a team led by Jean-Louis Guéret, the designer of all Lancôme mascara brushes. The King of Mascara, Guéret has been the father of nearly 400 mascaras during his illustrious career.

No other deets available.

Sounds like one gimmick I won't be buying into.

For christ's sake, it's a mascara.
People need to cool their jets. I mean, seriously, how much can a vibrating brush REALLY do for little hairs that are less than a centimeter long? Do you want them to be like three inches or something? Comparable to stillettos?
I hope you all feel like idiots after paying a king's ransom for a gimmick.

Stop it - I cannot wait to try this. I am really wondering how it gets all vibrational and applies evenly. Oh, as soon as I see this on counter I will be getting my wallet out. Woo!

Sounds like a bad idea if you've ever owned a Sonicare toothbrush. It flings toothpaste everywhere if you take it out of your mouth when it's on. Could imagine mascara being flung all over one's face!

I'm curious to see how it works. I am a fan of Lancome mascara formulas, specifically L'Extreme and Courbe Virtuose. But I must say the vibrating thing turns me off a bit. It sounds so gimmicky. Personally, I don't have a problem covering my lashes w/ a regular wand, and like one of the anonymous posters pointed out, the sonicare toothbrush design may make this "vibrating" mascara wand a messy application...but I'm sure the engineers have addressed this issue.
As for the other anonymous poster telling us to cool our jets. Well, if I can get stiletto length lashes from this mascara...sign me up gimmick or not! It may be a less than 1 cm length of hair on my eyes but it's the only hair on my face I want people to focus on and for that, I will try almost anything.

I wonder if we will now see the first lawsuit where someone has put an eye out with a vibrating mascara wand, lol. I also wonder if there is any vibration 'splashback' or 'splatter' from the wand.

This strikes me as a ridiculous gimmick. And I'm shocked that someone can come up with 400 permutations on a mascara brush. Isn't that about 450 too many?

Umm maybe there's something here that I'm just not getting. Disregarding the ridiculousness of a vibrating mascara wand, how would this even help the lashes in theory? And isn't that kind of dangerous anyhow?

I think I'll stick with the original Max Factor one with the rubber brush.

Vibrating brush or not, I've sworn off mascara. I started getting Xtreme Lashes and haven't looked back. It's probably my only beauty addiction. In fact, I feel I look ready to roll with only a dab of lip gloss. Xtreme Lashes have saved me time and improved my self-esteem. This is one Hollywood secret that is totally worth it!
