“What dreadful hot weather we have! It keeps me in a continual state of inelegance”
Jane Austen

Summer has finally hit Ohio. It went from a damp and chilly 50 degrees to Hades hot within one week.
I am just not feeling makeup at all.
I have broke out my tinted moisturizers and lip balms. MAC currently has a summer collection of lip balms called Tendertones. They range in pigment power and have just a smidgen of shimmer. The texture is sleek, light and lustrous. This lip balm just feels great on.
They contain SPF12 and are strawberry-kiwi flavored. They taste like Trident gum. I have tested two shades. Tread Gently is a chartreuse shade. It goes on sheer and gives just a warm yellowish cast on the lips. Honey Bare is a salmon color with just a dash of multi-colored shimmer. It applies sheer and just adds a pinkish tint to the lips.

Other shades are:
E-Z Baby is a sheer milky pink
Hot n'Saucy is a soft cherry red
Sweet & Nice is a sheer red grape with red pearl
Take a Hint is a sheer peach with white pearl
Hush Hush is a sheer gold with yellow gold pearl
Sweet Tooth is a sheer coral with white pearl
Pucker is a sheer berry with red pearl Deep Sigh is a sheer grape brown with red pearl

The lip balms are priced at $14.50($17.50 CDN) and are currently at your local MAC counter.

So how hot is it in your neck of the woods?
Has it changed your makeup routine? Let us know in the comments.

its hot and humid where i am now...i slap on moisturiser with sunblock and thats it! ohh & lipgloss...i would love to use mascara BUT nothing stays on in the hot weather plus i sweat alot and mascara always end up under my eye.

when the weather is cooler - i use TM, foundation (when the occassion calls for it), mascara /eyeshadow/blushers - the whole works!

how worth it are the tendertones? i am lemming but want to make sure that they aren't too tacky [sticky, not kitschy!].

It's close to 100 here. HOT and close to 100% humidity. Gotta love south jersey.
I still do most makeup but with a lighter hand. sometimes just a swipe of mascara and no shadow. and using more powder foundations.

These Tendertones are awesome, one of my very favs, and yes totally worth it. They are perfect for this weather as well as keeping lips very soft in winter.

I'm Eastern PA and it's about 95 degrees here. I'm dying! Anyways, the past two days I've been going makeup free just because my makeup has literally been melting off. If I go out later I'll probably just put on some powder, lip gloss, and water proof mascara.

I'm not sure about the chartreuse one but the salmon one looks tempting!

Still hot here in eastern PA; I gave up makeup, except for the MAC Strobe lip balm. I didn't like the flavor of the Tendertones, but the colors look nice. Too bad one has to apply them with the fingers - I much prefer the Strobe balm in that respect!

i love how if you use your fingers, it's very sheer; with a lipbrush you get more color! so versatile. i love all the shades... and to always in style....the chartreuse just makes your lips look so plump! i'm a huge fan of the tendertones.
i just came from hawaii where it's 90+ in the shade, and i almost nearly gave up on makeup. . . tinted moisturizer, bronzer, waterproof mascara and lipgloss!

I live in the SF Bay Area and while 80's may sound like nothing, for us it is getting warm.

I tend to go for BB cream eyeshadows and gel liner as they are pretty sweat proof. I also wear as little foundation as I can get away with and focus on concealing instead

guess i should clarify - i'm in texas. 106 with the heat index. so i'm down to mascara and that's more or less it. but i'll definitely check these out!

98 here in the Bronx, at 4:30 in the afternoon! I wore some philosophy moisturizer with spf today, kiehl's lip balm and that's about it. The pre-moistened facial cloths from oil of olay & ponds are my bff's today!

I'm a mac addict/junkie and I couldn't bring myself to pay $18 for a tub of sheer lipbalm - what are they thinking?

We are totally sweating it out here in DC too. Maybe you could do a post on the best powdery products to keep from looking overly sweaty all summer? Unfortunately, I don't really have a "shiny glow" -- just a sweaty, sticky one.

Same thing here in Boston, it was in the 50's early last week now it's the 90's and I went from wearing foundation, bronzer/blush, eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss to just chapstick now. That's it. Tomorrow I'm going to pick up some waterproof Lash Blast mascara and see how that goes...

In SC the heat index is 110 today!!! It is absolutely unbearable! I am limiting my makeup to sunscreen mixed with a light moisturizer, bronzer mascara, and a little gloss. i have given up everything else. the salmon tendertone has my name all over it!

In TX it's over 100 degree's so I've rid myself of tinted moisturizer opting for a little bit of bronzer, lip gloss, mascara (although with the heat my lashes tend to uncurl!) and some simple eye shadow. I think the least amount of make-up is best during this time of year.

Haven't tried Tendertones but considering how much I've been shopping for MAC stuff, I think I'm gonna skip.

Well I live in the desert so it's over 101 degrees out here, last week it hit 110. I broke out the waterproof eyeliners, cream blush & bronzer, & lip glosses & balms.
