Too Faced Shadow Insurance

This is a silicon eye primer that manages to quietly take care of crease or fading issues. You truly only need a droplet of product to use. A dollop is too much. The formula is creamy, soft and easy to work with. It is not a struggle to blend or drying like Urban Decays Primer Potion. The primer is the shade of a light concealer, smells like fresh linen and holds onto your eyeshadow with a death grip. Everything from Lancomes Erika F to the taupe in my Wet N' Wild palette survives on my lids. There are no disappearing acts, no fading into the sunset, or melting in the high Midwest humidity. My shadows stayed put with no decrease in smokiness or vibrancy.

Now why does this not win Allure beauty awards or get any love from the MUA gals?
This retails for $17 and is available at Sephora.

I've been testing this product with NARS Multiple as eye shadow and it doesn't work at all.

Anon: Do you think it is the silicon? Too slippery?
Nars shadows are hardcore so they should not budge.

This worked for me. I applied it on my lids after foundation with special attention in the crease area. I also applied the primer with my fingers(no brush or sponge) and lightly patted it in. I am not sure if that makes the difference.

I totally agree! I get tired of all the UDPP worship; the bottle is not the only inferior thing about that product!!

I was given a small sample of this a while back and WOW...when mine runs out, I'll be going back for more!

does it help cover discoloration? i feel like my eyelids look purple.

is this good for oily lidded gals or stye prone people? :)

I'm a little afraid to use silicon near my eyes since I had a stye recently.

Hi Annie,
Silicon is probably making it slippery. NARS shadows are hardcore, but there is something about the Multiple that creases and doesn't last long.

Anyone use NARS Multiples as shadow? Any tips on making it last? Help!

This MUAer ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥♥ ♥'s this product!!! Better than UDPP anyday of the week!!! Only a droplet the size of a raindrop is needed and your e/s never moves. I have bawled my eyes out with this on and my mascara went to h*ll but the eyeshadow never moved!!! This stuff rocks AND it comes in a tube so you will KNOW when you run out!!!!

This MUAer LOVES this product. It is superior to UDPP and a heck of a lot easier to get out of the tube too. I don't find it too slippery, but I do wait for it to dry a bit before applying my eyeshadow.

This MUAer thinks that this is better than the almighty ArtDeco primer! That's pretty blasphemous =D

I've heard good things about this; my UDPP is starting to dry out, it looks like (curse that bottle!), plus a product in a tube would be a lot more user-friendly for me. Thanks for the tip -- I've been wanting to try out new eyelid primers recently.

This stuff *rocks*!! It's way better than the Urban Decay that I've been using for years... Way to go, Too Faced!! Love this stuff.

THANK. YOU. I was debating on whether or not I should get this at Sephora! Looks like this one's going on the shopping list...

I love this product too. I apply it everyday with my fingers and it doesn't budge all day. Sometimes when I'm feeling really lazy I use it by itself to cover minor imperfections on my lids since it has that tint to it. I found it odd that so few people on MUA had a positive experience with this product.

PSA: I *think* Too Faced is still having their FF! It should be 20% off with the code NYC1

Does anyone know if this product helps with dark circles?

This avid MUA'er hears about this product almost daily... it's definitely been getting more and more attention.
I still love my UDPP but it's nice to see new awesome products on the market

Finally a reliable primer that holds.

I'm so glad you reviewed this. I've been wanting to get an eye primer but the only one i've heard of is the UDPP. I'm getting this one instead. Thanks!

I have had mixed results with this primer. I have oily lids and it just didn't seem to work as well as the universally loved UDPP.

I have had great success with Bare Escentuals Eye Primer which is very similar to UDPP but is in a click pen so you get every last drop. I also use MAC's prep + prime and am never disappointed.

This gets plenty of love from MUA gals.

I bought the Too Faced kit from Nordstroms just to try this product. I am glad that it works for you. I am hoping that it does the same for me.

UDPP is just too drying.

This MUA'er loves this product too! No other primers have worked this great for me and it makes my Erika F look awesome! I normally only use Laura Mercier and Bobbi Brown shadows and I can say that for Bobbi shadows (especially the nude colors) it really makes them stand out.

And it is in a TUBE. Thank you, God.

I'm on my last couple Revlon Color Stay tubes and need something that is also tube and not wand (UDPP) or a too thick cream (BeneFit). So now I have this and Lumene's on my list to try.

anon #1 - is this your first Multiple? I bought one in Orgasm and I really feel like I've been sold a bill of goods on this whole "Multiples = best thing on earth" mindset that seems to float about.

To SJG: Yes, this is my first Multiple - Copacabana. I've had is for so long, never really use it. Since it is summer, I thought I'd switch to cream eyeshadow, but the creasing drives me crazy. I've given up on this and will use powder shadows.

Since I bought the Multiple, I am determined to use it. Haven't figured out how yet. Maybe I'll try it as highlighter. It is too drying for lips and OK as blush.

I agree the Multiple is NOT the best thing in the world

i love this product! my eyeshadow can last through a long session at the gym when i have this on :)

to anyone asking about it's coverage for dark circles and discoloration: it will not work. it does have a tint to it, but that tint has very little coverage. this product will not work like a concealer.

At 6:11 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

i love this thing! it's a dollar more than UDPP, but you get more, and the packaging is much more nicer than that freakin' genie bottle.

and yes, you only have to use just a tiny bit everytime, so this one lasts quite a while.

Thanks for this review. I have recently come to the conclusion that I need an eye primer, but couldn't decide between this and Urban Decay.
