A lipstick is worth a hundred words
By Jessica M
The video for Robert Palmer’s “Addicted to Love” seemed to play non-stop on MTV in 1985. It was just as famous for its female backup “musicians” as it was for the actual song. These four anonymous women, all dressed in slinky black and flaunting bright scarlet lipstick, gyrated robotically and pretended to play their instruments; they were slightly creepy, but mesmerizing to watch. What’s funny, looking back, is how classic their look really was: the sleek hair, the smoky eye, and the glossy red mouth. (Of course, many of us were wearing frosty mauve lipstick and big perms back then!)

Oooh, I loved that video, too! The video itself now seems like a blast from the past, but you're right...those women were sporting a timeless and classic look!
