Smoky Mountain High: Kanebo Sensai Eye Shadow Palette in Shiro Nadeshiko
I have swatched my favorite smoky eye palette from Kanebo. The Sensai color collection was inspired by the practice of Kasane. This is the layered colors used in silk kimono of the Japanese aristocracy during the Heian Period. The Kasane color patterns were influenced by nature and were worn in specific combinations according to the season and occasion.
Kanebo created a color collection with this practice in mind. There are layered cheek blushes and lipsticks. This pictured eye shadow palette was also part of this collection. According to Kanebo, the colors chosen for the Shiro Nadeshiko palette were drawn from the "quiet winter landscape".
I swatched three of the shades from the palette. The shade starting from the left is a cool pigeon gray. The middle shade is an ice queen silver. The last shade is a smoke stack with shimmery disco charcoals. The shadows have great texture, pigment and lasting power. I never suffer through any flaking or disappearing issues. The quality is very high.
The palette retails for $50 and is available at select Saks Fifth Avenue locations, Bergdorf Goodman, select Barneys and Takashimaya New York. Visit http://www.sensai-cosmetics.com/

Great colors! :)
Is this the ES03 palette?
S: Yep! I am pretty sure that is the #. I will check when I get home.
Love the colors - right on trend for this fall, too! (...according to the June Harper's Bazaar fall beauty runway report) AND Annie, you should totally get in touch with Amanda at the Bergdorf Goodman Kanebo counter in NYC. I just call her directly and she's great for advice/helping with your order: 212.872.2537! Shhh :)
Thanks :)
I love the New Color collection! I have been using the new sheer lipstick for summer. It just glides on and gives the perfect hint of color. I heard that soon Bergdorf Goodman will be the only store to carry Kanebo. But they have an amazing "brow expert", Julia, so every time I purchase my make-up I get a brow shaping too!!
Doesn't Barneys New York carry Kanebo too?
Sarah: Sorry for the late confirmation! It is ES03.
Anon: Thanks for a name! I prefer that counter over Barneys.
But I prefer the Chantecaille counter at Barneys over Bergdorfs. So they are even.
Anon: There is a counter at Barneys...at least the last time I visited. Can anyone confirm?
Unless they closed it, there is a counter at Saks fifth as well.
It's true they left Saks and are amazing at Bergdorf's! Love Julia--and Gordana does great facials there too, I heard they have appointments this month from the 23-25th if you call the counter to book it!
