Clean As A Whistle: MAC Studio Fix Lash

This is a very clean mascara. There is no mess, clumps, or smears. The tube is designed with a narrow opening that catches the brush during removal and re-entry. This helps eliminate mascara from gathering around the wand or junking up the bristles.

The thermoplastic synth-rubber moulded brush coats each lash with a generous amount of product. The brush is whippet thin with fairly small bristles. The spike-like bristles are erect and appear stiff at first glance. However, the bristles are pliable and oddly soft to the touch.

Studio Fix separates each lash with ease. The bristles act like tiny combs. My lash fringe looked separated, uncluttered and clean. It is a light look with little drama. This formula does not add volume, length or curl. The results are more modern looking.

Studio Fix mascara retails for $13.00($15.50 CDN) and is currently available at your local MAC counter. For more details visit http://www.maccosmetics.com/

It is available in Black Fix and Studio Brown.

How do you describe a "modern lash"?

Is it one notch above natural?

Lara: It is engineered very well. No mess and an even application. Pretty remarkable.
It is by far...the best mascara from MAC.

BC: That is it exactly. I struggled with a description. LOL

It is not heavy or false looking. Very modest. No flash. No bells or whistles. Clean. Almost architectural.

How many mascaras has MAC had in the past? Why don't I recall others?

I love that lash look, It reminds me of early 90's Calvin Klein Minimalism. Lightly structured lashes accompanied by a slight wash of colour.

Moderne and timeless.
I will have to pick up a tube.

I love the idea of a clean, modern look, but in reality I know I'd never be happy with this mascara. I need a more high drama look, and now that I'm used to that, natural would make me feel blah!

Hmmm... Your description reminds me of Maybelline Lash Discovery, which I've found is a great minimal overall mascara.

Anon: It is in my lash arsenal! It excels at definition, separation and no fuss. I should have also mentioned that it only takes one coat to achieve results. There is also no buildability issues. No crunch situations. It performs solid.

There might not be any "bells or whistles" but it is a fine performing mascara. I will repurchase it.

Helena: Oh gosh...I think they have lots. I would need to hit the counter to do a count. I think they have one called Zoomlash that is good. I have never done a review or a good test.

Anon: I have never tried that one. I tried Stiletto...was not smitten. I expected to be though.

Chick: You know I have short lashes...so I need major help. This one is good though. You will not get any volume or curl assistance...but it does give pretty good length. The separation and no flaking can not be beat. It is worth a peek at the MAC counter.

BC: I liked it! I am hoping they expand on the formula. I would appreciate flankers!

The brush looks great! And I really appreciate the reasonable MAC mascara prices (at least compared to Chanel, Guerlain etc. $35, Guerlain? For something we're supposed to replace every two months? Really??)

Ari: I think the price point is pretty damn impressive. It performs at a high end scale.
