Blogdorf Goodman is a mishmash of beauty product reviews, musings on fashion and swooning over fragrances.

Sorry that there is no new post for today. I have been struggling with sleep issues and general funks.

I decided to wear a long forgotten fragrance to match my spirits. I chose Serge Lutens Douce Amere.
It is a crazy mix of anise and absinthe. It smells like a bag of licorice.

There is a MAGNIFICENT quote on the online site Luckyscent for this fragrance:

Moody and contrary, this is the unexpected lightness of heart at the sight of a gray, rainy day; the decadent thrill of reveling in a bad mood overlong; the sharp stab of melancholy when you hear of someone else being happy.

Yep.
This is how I feel.

What fragrance did you choose today?
You can purchase Serge Lutens Douce Amere at Luckyscent for $120.

This may come as a shock to a Perfume Conisseur(? spelling)such as yourself, but I have on Jessica Simpson's Fancy. While some may turn up their noses, on me it smells wonderful. Warm and soft and reminds me of walking into an excellent bakery and a gorgeous florist's store all at the same time.

I love Douce Amere (& the LS description)! I wear it when I'm in a bad mood, too. I hope you feel better soon.

Hahaha @ JS Fancy. A friend of mine swears this is why JS gained weight - because it smells like cake and makes you want sweets!

But a fragrance for a bad mood is a very interesting concept...

I agree with chickadee - a fragrance for a bad mood is a fabulous concept! I must look into this ASAP.

I am wearing Miss Dior Cherie today. Normally I hate fruity fragrances, but on me, this one melds into something delectable and fresh, crisp and green and heavenly. I'm so glad that I gave it a whirl, because it's now my very favorite.

my fragrance is a direct influence from you - bois de paradis. I first heard about this scent on your site.

Since i cannot afford a full bottle at $120 - i am trying to make my little sample vial last as long as possible. Luckily for me a little goes a long way!

Today I am wearing my new favorite Success is a job in NY by Bond #9.
I was on vacation for 2 weeks and couldn't wear any perfume- I went insane. I was so happy to come home and put on Serge Lutens Datara Noir.

That quote describes my exact mood at the moment. Feeling rather dour, sour and glum.

Wearing Sonoma Scent Studios Spiced autumn woods today...not sure they make this one any more. ...as you can guess...I usually reach for Guet apens when my mood is less than stellar :) Hope you feel better soon! {{{A}}}}

Kenzo Amour, which I cannot smell too well on myself due to sinus. For me it's comfort in a (stunning) bottle. The milky vanilla note is like a cashmere blanket on a day I need to stay in, but reluctantly have to venture outside.

I was graciously given a very large, expensive bottle of L'Air du Desert Marocain Eau de Toilette Intense by Tauer Perfumes by an MUA pal about 6 weeks ago. I've worn nothing else since. This scent is my personality in liquid form, lol. I won't even bother trying to describe it - too complex. But this link gives a lovely description. Enjoy...

P.S. Feel better Annie and happy 2010! Big, Huge Hugs... Quilley

What a fantastic description. Feel cheer soon Annie...in the meantime there is nothing quite like reveling in one's own ordure!!
Today I wore Woman by Jovan, which is cheap, cozy, and has tremendous echoes of 1979. In a good way.

Today I wore the barest drop of Youth Dew Bath Oil on each wrist - the old fashioned glass bottle just spoke to me this morning.

My two thoughts to get through a tough day:

Melancholy sallies forth inspiration.

and

How are we to appreciate the colour pink without moments of blue?

Just remember that Poppy King thinks you and your blog are great. The mood will probably still stick, but that can't help but make you feel a little better at least.

I feel this way often, it's no fun. Reading your blog is one of my favorite pick-me-ups and I hope you feel better soon. I usually wear Guerlain's Apres L'Ondee, it always turns my funk into something prettier.

Sorry you are not feeling great today. I've felt like that.

Today I spritzed myself witl Aliage by Estee Lauder. My mom had some when I was a child and I loved to snoop around her perfume tray. Aliage reminds me of my childhood and happier times, so I bought a bottle out if nostalgia more than anything else. But when I wear it, it's familiar and comforting. And I really do like it.

Feel better Annie!!! I wore Estee Lauder Azuree Soleil. which makes me feel like I am on a beautiful mediterranean beach instead of in dreary, freezing Baltimore.

Fatbottmdgrl: No shock at all. I love all perfumes from high to low end. I love gourmonds. They do not do work very well on my skin...but on my friends and co-workers....so love them! My one co-worker wears Brittany Spear's Fantasy so well.

Have you tried Halle Berry's scent? That one is also quite good. Very pretty floral.

I have a bad feeling I will like Kim K's fragrance too. I hear it is very close to Bond's Chinatown.

Thanks everyone for the comments!

Hmmm, I did not get a Chinatown vibe at ALL when I smelled the new Kim Kardsash, although I admit that I didn't stick around for the drydown. It smelled very much like honeysuckle to me. Very pleasant!
