True Love Waits
The spring press releases are arriving in my mail box. I got excited by the Nars offering based on the description below.
Inspired by Catherine Deneuve’s role as Lucille in La Chamade, the NARS Spring 2010 Collection features soft, sexy shades that are as elegant as they are versatile.
I was stoked until I saw the pictures. The lippie looks Chamade worthy but the grape nail polish has me at a loss.
“I love Catherine’s makeup look in this movie,” says François Nars, Founder and Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics who chose supermodel Amber Valletta for the campaign. “It’s very sophisticated and bourgeois in a Parisian ‘16th Arrondissement’ way. She is the perfect reference for this collection, and apropos for spring, a time to embrace color and get noticed.”
NARS Cruising Lipstick- $24
This subtle, sexy pink lipstick hue provides a sheer natural long-lasting color
NARS Lip Gloss- $24
Easy Lover-Serious luster meets sexy color in this ultra-sheer hot pink lip gloss
Ophelia- This high-shine strawberry nectar lip gloss is deliciously sweet and seductive
NARS Purple Rain Nail Polish - $16
This intensely gothic purple is a bright and audacious shade destined to become a modern classic. (nothing says Catherine Deneuve like a Prince song!)
NARS D. Gorgeous Single Eyeshadow-$23
This dusty lilac powder eyeshadow yields just a hint of flirtation, but never misses its mark
NARS Camargue Duo Cream Eyeshadow-$32
Named for the deep, dancing, sun-cast hues found in the French river delta, this pairing of golden moss and sienna, with multi-colored reflections comes in a soft-blending, glistening cream eyeshadow formula
NARS Kuala Lumpur Duo Eyeshadow-$32
Like its Malaysian city namesake, this perfectly harmonized gold infused rose and boysenberry pairing is influenced by contrasts—rich and subtle, traditional yet modern
NARS Glitter Pencil-$24
This bright sky blue, silver glitter-infused hue delivers powerful, vibrant color that slides on smooth and remains creamy for blending
The Spring 2010 collection will be available on January 15, 2010 at narscosmetics.com

Does Kuala Lumpur look like Sugarland?
I think this is a collection I can skip (and a good thing, since I ransacked Nars counter last night). The yellow/brown duo is difficult to wear (for me) and that polish is...wacky!
her hair is perfection.
I'm of the same generation as Catherine and I don't ever remember her rocking yellow eyeshadow. Her make-up look was usually neutral with nude lips and emphasis on her gorgeous eyes. My friend at Dior said yellow is supposed to be big come summer. We shall see . . .
I do like Easy Lover gloss and Kuala Lumpur duo but I won't truly know until I swatch it in person...ugh you got me again, Mr. Nars!!
btw...i need to watch the rest of this film!
I love NARS but some of his colors are way too glittery and loud for me:( But his bridal palette...oooooh beautiful
I think it's more supposed to be modern look meets La Chamade then just copying everything.
As for this line, I'm digging the glitter pencil. It's the exact shade of blue I've been looking for, except I wish it were matte.
i love the video clip. Catherine is such an icon!
I think the Nars collection has embraced the past with the present just right. Amber was a good choice to convey the look. I agree, I do not recall Catherine wearing yellow eyeshadow but times have slightly changed :)
Suzanna: I have not been to a Nars counter in sooooo long. I have to say that the last few collections did not move me.
That polish does not make sense in the story. A good fit would be the new Chanel shade.
Seesaw: I KNOW! I love big 60's hair.
Eileen: Yep. I agree.
I think yellow will be a "no go" for me.
Lexi: I want to see the movie too!
Adore: His palettes are AMAZING.
Aya: I get the modern thing...but the purple and the hot pink gloss look like an odd fit. I would have liked soft roses(eyes), pale pinks and maybe a Foul Play in lipstick form.
Helena: I thought Amber was very perfect.
Oh, man, I want this whole line. Will it make me, then, look like Catherine Deneuve? I'm hoping.
Snork. Yellow eyeshadow has never, I would argue, been elegant, nor has it been versatile. God bless designers and their crack-smokin' ways! Hee.
I went to Saks yesterday to buy that lipstick and the Kuala Lumpur but it wasn't out yet, but should be any day now =) I'll probably do a review on Pink Sith once I get it! It's the only Spring collection I'm crazy about.
NARS ROCKS!!!
Agh, I wish I could afford NARS...I'm a new viewer :D Check out my blog and follow me! Tell your friends, cuz I only have 3 followers :(
I'm not sold on the makeup, but that model's hair is afreakinmazing! This will be my new hair inspiration!
E: I soooooooooooo want my hair to look like this.
Shana: That cracked me up!!!!
Joey: Let me know when the review goes up!!!! I am curious to what it looks like in real life.
My Nars counter is usually unmanned and they keep the new stuff under lock and key.
"Inspired by Catherine Deneuve’s role as Lucille in La Chamade..."
...as played by Madonna circa 1995? No me gusta.
