Let Love Rule
Love can kick rocks in my bitter opinion. Please realize that this is my "inner spinster" speaking. I do appreciate love in all it's wonderful and cruel glory. I would like to drive the love bandwagon instead of plotting it's fiery crash. All these press releases of Valentine gift suggestions just makes me want to pout.
This blogger is not in the throes of true love or participating in any romantic endeavors. However, this blogger does appreciate a great red lippie and pretty smelling things.
Estee Lauder's Kissable Lip Gloss in Cherry Kiss is very fetching. A pop of red with pink shimmer fire. The gloss has a brush applicator and the tube is stamped with the word "love". There are three other shades and the gloss is scented heavily with fig.
Lauder also released 12 Hydra Lustre Lipsticks in the Love Your Lips collection. I received a press sample of Coral Kiss.
Corals are a huge trend this spring and summer. I am starting to lose count of the new Coral themed collections and lippies. Coral Kiss is a more sheer, less oomph version of Lancome's Chris Benz. Lauder's limited edition lippie has the word Love embossed on the actual lipstick. This is an adorable touch.
The lipstick retails for $19.50 while the gloss retails for $18.

My "inner spinster" is now my "outer spinster". Someone needs to create a Spinster collection, and give this love lipstick a run for its money. Any suggestions to which brand could do this best?
The lipstick from this prospective line shall be entitled "Dinner for one"
Will definitely have to check if this is sold in Oslo, Norway (come payday)! These colors definitely looks like they´re right up my alley. Am actually snugly loved up and newly engaged, but loathe Valentine´s Day. With a vengeance. Don´t know why really; it´s a nice concept with a day dedicated to love, but the whole commercial aspect makes me nauseated. Am truly happy that I got my dose of longstemmed pink roses today, and not on Sunday.
I´ve been through patches of spinsterhood (and relatonships that have I have been dying to get out of, and relationships I´ve been dying to remain in to no avail) and disbelief in the whole concept of happily ever after; including both good periods and some severe, long, draining, depressing, teary and too uncomfortable to think of.
But. Newsflash for you. In the end, what doesn´t kill you makes you stronger. Even if the road there involves gallons of tears, too much sleep, too little sleep, solitary wine excesses, food binges, starvation and self loathing. Hang in there! And keep up the amazing work :)
Ohh love the V-Day inspired products, too cute! The holiday of love is almost here, so it's smart to just go ahead and embrace it. Or drown your sorrows in vodka. And ice cream. Love the green polish too, I'm already sick of my navy and purple "winter" shades!

LMAO at BarcelonaChair, I think MAC needs to do a Spinster collection, I can already see the edgey ad campaign!
you complaining about being a spinster is getting old. I love your blog, but don't like to read whinning. BTW...i thought one of your new years resolutions was to put your heart back into the blog.
BC: Maybe LimeCrime. They seem fun!
Glamour: Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. I have my moments of weakness.
Ellen: I am wearing Chanel Jade. I had to skip my weekly appt. The polish is surviving AMAZINGLY the 2nd week.
Kalo: I agree! I would adore a Spinster dazzleglass. LOL
Anon: Thank you. You are right.
I will suck it up.
The Love stamp on the lipstick is a cute touch but I couldn't help noticing your nails! Is that Chanel or Essie's Mint Candy Apple? It looks so good on you! I'm still on the fence about green nail polish...
annie, i find your blog so honestly refreshing and delightful, spinster-isms and all. :)
Hey Anonymous!
Who cares what you think. It's not your blog. Jeez!
Creativity suffers when you take direction from bores.
Love your blog, as is darling!
Just a non-anonymous opinion..
I just read a quote that said, "As soon as you give up on love, it hits you like a Mack truck." Brace yourself just in case it's true. And if it's not... at least your lips will look fabulous.
doesn't change the fact that she's whinning
Annie,
It was very gracious of you to want to "suck it up" but please continue to write all that you please. I love the honesty of you blog. Social media has taken us to a place where one would think every person's life is in the midst of the most fabulous party. Is something is wrong with us if we are not on the proverbial guest list?
Occasionally, I would love to see someone on Facebook post a pic of themselves in their PJ's, with their unwashed hair in an old scrunchi, eating a tub of Chocolate Chunky Monkey and caressing the remote, rather than viewing all the new vacation/new car/new home/new baby/new famous friend/new wife/new cat pics.
Not many have the strength to embrace and share all aspects of themselves with the ability to express it in a poignant and stylish way.
Annie,
Let Love Rule is my favorite Lenny Kravitz album - I stopped paying attention to him after Are you Going to Go My Way.
I'm part of TEAM SPINSTER...I don't care what anyone else says!
oh and Barcelona Chair - I love your name and my husband (the architect geek he is) taught me what it is and what it looks like. We did actually go to Barcelona to the German Pavillion built for the fair in 1929 to see a real live Barcelona Chair! Oh man I wanted to sit in that chair...
what were we talking about again? oh yeah...that is a nice Valentine's Day lip gloss!
hi,
Be wary of LimeCrime, just google it and you will see quite a few negative reviews.
I don't think you should censor yourself, certainly not on your own blog. I like that your blog reflects your personality and what's going on in your life. That's what makes reading Blogdorf Goodman feel like hanging out with a friend, rather than just reading yet another press release regurgitated mindlessly across countless beauty blogs.
Lexi920,
It's it the most magical design?
I have one and I love like a child. Spinsters tend to do that sort of thing.
You were very fortunate to visit the pavilion, gone are the days where the design of a chair could create such a stir. I was born in the wrong time.
Methinks those who complain of whining protest too much...
Annie, you just keep on sticking up for the spinsters out there, which is to say, any of us who have ever had a moment when our hearts are wintry, wizened, embittered and altogether Grinchy. All of us, if we are honest about it.
Besides, a lipstick with "love" emblazoned on the side of it is practically designed to bring out the grinch...in me, at least. The last things I need from my lipstick are advice and exhortations.
Anonymous, just out of curiosity, what exactly is "whinning"? Yeah, you should definitely stop "whinning", Annie, whatever the hell that may be.
These lippies look adorable. I too will be spending Vday depressed and alone, although hopefully at the Bond No 9 counter at my local Saks.
BC - it most certainly is!
Ooooh la la... how FUN is that lipstick!
To BarcelonaChair!
YESYESYES! AGREED! On all counts! And YES! ANNIE YOU ARE TOO GRACIOUS!
To Anonymous:
YOU are whining! And it's not even your blog!
