Oh watcha gonna do, Katie?
You're a sweet sweet girl.
But it's a cruel, cruel world a cruel, cruel world.
(lyrics to What Katie Did by Libertines)
MUA's Cavewoman gifted me with my first Illamasqua product. I was thrilled and delighted. I have been curious about the line since Ben raved about it on We Love Beauty. Ben said "If Nars and Tim Burton were to have a baby...that baby would be Illamasqua".
That simple statement catapulted my lemmings into overdrive. I begged my friend Tbone to visit the London counter and sneak pictures. Tbone successfully distracted the counter and was able to get blur free shots. I poured over those stolen glimpses every night.
I could not wait for the Sephora launch date.
The launch came and went. The reviews on other beauty blogs were not exactly gushing.
I took it as a sign and kept my wallet closed. I would not order sight unseen. I did not have regrets with that decision until I was gifted with Katie. Now I want to gobble up everything!
My first Illamasqua product is a powder blush called Katie. It is a whispery cherry blossom pink. It is outrageously feminine and pretty.
The finish and texture is matte. It is not powdery or ash-like. The ingredients range from Talc to Silica. I also spotted Rice Starch, Mica, Mineral Oil, Beeswax and Titanium Dioxide. I am not on friendly terms with Titanium Dioxide. You might say we are enemies. However, it did not affect the performance of this blush. It did not make the blush settle into my pores. It did not make my skin parched.
It has great lasting power. The color stayed true. The pigment is quite exceptional. It takes just a light tap with your skunk brush to get the right amount of flush.
Katie did not fade or morph through the 8 hour day. My face was in my hands during all the frustrating moments of a typical work day.
My blush never moved.
This was an impressive feat.
The packaging is adorable yet the latch is slightly difficult to open. I have to use my nail to shimmy the clasp. This is annoying and potentially breakable. The foreshadowing is not good for this clumsy girl. Katie retails for $23 at Sephora.

Didn't know about this line, but I'll definitely have to check it out! Looks like a great blush color.
I have one of their lipsticks - Maneater - and I LOVE it! Haven't tried any of their other products yet, but this blush looks great. I may just have to head right over to Sephora :)
That looks like a gorgeous shade! Now you have made me want to get out there and try it too. I had ignored it in the past.
Jessica: It is very fetching!
leelee: Tell me about this maneater! What are their lippies like? Are they creamy? Last well?
Fab: I wish my Sephora carried this line! GRRRR
Let us know what you think!!!!!!!!
Their nail polishes are amazing! My favorites so far are Baptiste (shimmering royal purple), Phallic (shimmering dark blue), and Rampage (forest green).
Annie--have you watched their videos yet? So freakin' cool.
why did i only hear complaints about this powder blush in the past but now you said it's great.
i bought other things instead of this blush just because people said it was crap. now the lemming is back, thanks to you!
I just adore Illamasqua. I have 'nymph' blush, which is very similar to Katie but (i think) a little lighter. I LOVE they're intense lipglosses, they're amazingly opaque.
If you like purple lipsticks, check out Illamasqua's Fetish lipstick. It rocks.
i think you should try their satin primer. i've heard good things but haven't tried it. i know you love primers! (and this one has spf in it)
The lippies last FOREVER!! I had to work to get it off at the end of the night! Maneater looks a little weird on the Sephora swatch, but it's my perfect red! It's a pretty neutral red, not too far blue or orange.
Definitely creamy, but still very matte so it could be more moisturizing - a little lip balm underneath pretty much takes care of it, though. I really recommend it!
My name is Katie. When I first saw your post title, I was like, what did I do? Ha ha ha!!!!
Thank you for sharing! Those blushes are very pretty. :)
Try the Illuminator! It's perfect!

I absolutely love Illamasqua and have a lot of their products. But my favourite are cream blusher (Rude) and satin primer. Now they have 50% off on some items(at the website) so I am getting more!
I tried a few items when they came out - a blush (Beg) and an eyeliner (I think it's the green one). I wasn't too thrilled with the liner...I don't really remember why - it didn't wow me, but I'll try it again. The blush, on the other hand, is great! Very, very finely milled - I also use a skunk brush. I actually went back and bought it in another color (Unrequited), which is a light, bright pink. Lovely! You should try the cream blush - I actually like creams better than powder, since I am dry. I got it in Betray, which is a warm rose, similar to Beg - it's wonderful - smooth and light, and it lasts! The swatch is MUCH darker than it really is...
Yay! I am so glad you like Katie! I'm pretty impressed with the Illamasqua cream blushes. I wish our Sephora store had this line in stock.
It was definitely their glitter nail polishes that first caught my eye, but I have to agree with lots of the other commenters that their lip products are what really stand out.
I picked up their nail polish "Milf" (a mint green shade) when I was visiting London as a lower price present from one of the fancy department stores there and love it!!
They have so much fun with color.
