Sun Salutation
A review of Pratima Neem Rose Face Sunscreen 30 SPF
by Jessica M

A few weeks ago, I was paying a visit to Philadelphia (one of my favorite cities, where I lived for a few years) and I passed a small salon called Moko. My eye was caught by the salon’s window displays of natural haircare and beauty products, so I had to go inside and do some browsing. I was really intrigued by a skincare line called Pratima, which I’d never seen before, and I bought a bottle of Neem Rose Face Sunscreen since I needed a new facial sunblock anyway. It turns out that Pratima, an Ayurvedic spa and clinic, is actually located in New York! I’m looking forward to going there and trying more products.
In the meantime, I’m completely thrilled with my Neem Rose Face Sunscreen. It has a short and sweet list of ingredients: water, micronized zinc oxide (18.6%!), rose essential oil, neem oil for healing, vitamin E, licorice (which has anti-inflammatory properties), and a few other soothing and rejuvenating botanical essences. The product is packaged in a recyclable metal bottle with a pump dispenser. I’ve found that three pumps of the bottle releases enough sunscreen to cover my face. The sunscreen is a light cream that applies smoothly, like a high-quality moisturizer, and quickly absorbs into the skin. There’s no ghostly “whitish” after-effect, no greasy oil-slick feeling, and no chemical smell, just a light, natural rose scent that fades in a minute or two.
I’ve been wearing Neem Rose Face Sunscreen under my makeup for the past two weeks. It makes my face feel protected and healthy. I’m very fair-skinned and I’m obsessive about wearing sunblock, but I usually have a hard time finding a product that satisfies me on all counts. Pratima might just be the answer to my sun-protection prayers!
