MAC Electro Flash Mineralize Eye Shadows

Here are the photos I promised from my MAC counter visit at Macys. The lighting is always a hindrance but these were the best shots. The standouts were Hot Contrast(Dirty red with silver and black veining with an inky black) and Polar Opposites(Dirty purple with silver, indigo and pink veining with true silver). Both my MAC gals created the most spectacular smoky eyes with them.

I think Hot Contrast will not last long at the counters. Do not fear the red.
When swatched it is a smoky silverish gray with a little bit of a plum cast.

You might be asking "Why the heck do you not swatch?"
The answer is that I do not have a steady hand. I have no coordination skills. It is a miracle that I can walk and chew gum at the same time.
I do realize that swatching helps so much...so I might have to enlist hand models for future counter trips.
In the meantime, check out the skills of MUA member Nova Baby. This look will make you run out and get Hot Contrast.

I dished with the MAC girls and they seconded the rumors that Dazzleglass will be resurrected. They whispered that the resurrection will be quick. This was reassuring because I have such regret on not buying every damn shade.

Polar Opposites

Sea& Sky
Cavewoman bought this shade. The blue is so lovely and bright. However it is the veining that is the showstopper. Incredible!

Fresh Green Mix
Check out this MUA post to see just how gorgeous this duo is:

Play on Plums

Two to Glow

Pink Split
This could be the dark horse of the collection. The veining was this dirty rose with blue flashes.

Let us know what you think of this collection in the comments.
I am interested in seeing which one managed to capture your heart!

I too went down to the MAC store and bought no less than 4 of the blushes in Sonic Chic, the 181 brush and quite a few of the lip products. The one product that didn't make it are the mineralize shadows. I have a tough time working with them and they just seem to crumble everywhere on me. Do you have any good tips on application?

I have no tricks and also experience flecks and dustings. I generally have issues at the end of the day.

The MUA gals rave about how fabulous these are wet...but I have not taken the plunge. The colors appear to be 1000 times more vibrant and the look is always clean and crumble free.

I got Pink Split and I love it. The colors are perfect. I don't find them too chunky..but I also apply w/ a damp brush to help with glitter fall out. Perhaps this may help you, sf makeup junkie. :-)
I also caved on 2 blushes...but I'm a blush hoor.

Fresh Green Mix is singing its siren song, but I'm a little hesitant. Super-shimmery eye makeup is really not my thing, and I've heard that these shadows are notorious for depositing sparkly flecks everywhere. But I'm wondering if they're used over Urban Decay PP and with a damp brush if this will be as big of an issue. Ladies?

I got Hot Contrast at Nordstrom on Sunday and I am in *love* with it. The "swirly" part doesn't even turn up as a red on me - it's more of a very dirty silver/pink. The MUA who worked on my face showed me the drawers where they keep the MAC eyeshadows - the Hot Contrast was definitely selling out at a record pace. (They're also sold out of the two darkest shades of the Mineralize Skinfinish fron New View, as well.)

RE: flecks. The MUA who worked with me at Nordstrom used both Prep + Prime and a Paint Pot to prime my lids before layering the Mineralize shadows on them so there wasn't any crumbling issues. I personally use a chunky eye pencil as base before using anything on my eyes. YMMV.

I am *obsessed* with Two To Glow. I've worn it every day since I got it. I might have to get a backup! It makes me think of fall, pumpkiny orange and dried leaves brown. These also seem much nicer than previous Mineralize eye shadows- less flaking!

I bought Two to Glow (love it, the orange is perfect and well, glow-y and the marbled size is a good bronze-y crease color) and Play on Plums. The MA tried Play on Plums wet, and it turned out more brown than anything. I might play with it a bit more to get more "plummy" colors out of it. I'm tempted to buy more...
