I had offically given up the search to get a Marc Jacobs handbag. I had strict requirements.
I wanted it heavily discounted.
I wanted a color I could use.
On Sunday I spotted this little gem in a sales bin at my local SAKS. It was upside down.
It had been on hold for an employee.
When the dashing SA rang it up....it was discounted again.
Don't you love when that happens?
It gives you such a thrill.
Tell me what your biggest shopping thrill has been. What has been your best deal?

A true score! I love that color. Congratulations!
Perfect, perfect, perfect score!
I once got a hilarious black handbag in patent leather covered in long black fake fur that had been marked down and marked down and marked down until it rang up as $4 at the cash register. It was my standard black handbag and my little dose of hilarity for years, until it started to look a little fake mangy, the quality was solid, and even the cashier was so shocked she had to double-check the price.
The perfect bag, the perfect bargain, it was all good and I am glad I got to witness it!!
My best bargain is a silver bracelet. It is a cuff style, made of four thin hammered strands spaced apart at the top and tapering to meet at the back. In between the strands of silver, here and there, are little white pearls like dots or bubbles in the design. I spotted this at our local TJMaxx and immediately I knew I had found a gem. It even had the designer's personal tag still attached, and also the retail tag from the store where it had come from originally. And then there was the TJMaxx tag.
Designer: Robert Lee Morris
Original store: Saks Fifth Avenue
Original price: $450
TJMaxx price: $39.99
Then there is my Armani suit, from the Off 5th store, original price $2075 and final markdown with additional coupons, $200.
And my beautiful and much-coveted DVF wrap dress, also from Off 5th. Original price $395, and marked down to $49.
Oh, it's beautiful Annie! The color is great!! xoxo
I still remember how very happy you looked as you showed the beautiful treasure! =)
It reminds me of the "Devil Wears Prada" movie, the one character lovingly patting her new MJ purse! =)
Annie! The SAME thing happened to me at Saks. Nearly the same bag, too...the Marc Jacobs multi-pocket, but mine is blue. I took it to the register intending to buy it at full price (I was finally going to give in), and when I got there I found out it was discounted...twice!
This must be some crazy cosmic alignment, the two of us getting the same bag at Saks at a discount within weeks of each other. LOL.
out of sheer curiosity how much was it? (as a true blue marc jacobs junkie i can't help but ask - especially since you say it was a steal.)
:)
I'm very excited for you. When I got my first Marc Jacobs I was elated for months on after. Like I couldn't help but not smile. When you love something that much it sticks around. And that gernaium pink color is dashing. Total score!
:D
Great bag! It's so wonderful when things like that happens - it's like it's meant to be. :)
oh my gosh! amazing.
i once scored a fantastic vintage emerald green opera coat -- it wasn't supercheap, but it was a truly amazing find. and even more so when i realized it was an exact copy of a Balenciaga style.
oh yeah! and i once got a gorgeous Lanvin dress at like 90 percent off. i was practically bouncing off the walls.
Cavewoman/P: Your deals are some of the best I have ever heard. You are an inspiration.
Pattyg: I want a white vintage fur. I am always on the lookout for that!
Beautyaddict: I loved your purse! It was perfect.
Joaninah: It was around $380...with tax.
The best deal on a MJ bag was at Dallas shoes in Cleveland. They were priced at $80. I missed the bags by one day. It almost killed me.
Sandy: I loved those boots.
Miss Spinach: You are my vintage shopping hero!!!!!
I also picked up a velvet opera coat for a song. My greatest vitage find. The buttons alone would be 30-40 dollars. I got it for $50. That was a lot for a struggling college student. I bought it at the Hidden Pearl in Ohio.
That Lanvin.....was a great score.
Belledonna: That is a great score! Tbone will be jealous. She is on the hunt for leopard shoes and purses.
