Rock the Gloss Challenge for Sunday August 6th 2006:
I am wearing MAC Punkin with YSL Golden Gloss in Gold.
I had forgotten that I had purchased Punkin. It is a great blue based pink similiar to Madame B and Florabundi.
Today we will spend the day in Cleveland with our gang. We plan to hit the usual stops in the Nordstorm, Saks and Sephora.
What is your lippie today and tell me your favorite shopping story. It can be the best deal you ever found or the most fun you have ever had when shopping.
I have never found my best deal yet. I missed Marc Jacob bags for $80 at Dallas Shoes(in cleveland) by one day. That will haunt me for years.
All my favorite shopping stories involve cavewoman or dramaqueenie2. They are my shopping soul mates.
Have a great Sunday!

My lips are still naked, but I'm probably going with Colorstay in Cashmere again with Twinkle Glossimer over. It's a pretty, natural Sunday look.
My favorite shopping experience was when just out of the blue my beloved Mom took me shopping at a boutique at North Park mall in Dallas that had always seemed like the impossible dream to me. They were very expensive and had the most beautiful classic clothes--Mom helped me pick tons of gorgeous outfits and then we spent the rest of the day accessorizing and just having fun. It was the first time I'd ever gotten very nice clothes, and I was afraid to ask what had changed that we could splurge on me that way. I was probably all of 15, but I felt like a brand new princess. She even bought me a hairpiece, which were all the rage at the time (1969 or 1970). It was such a wonderfully generous thing for her to do, and she never spent a moment the entire day looking at things for herself. She made it all about me. When we came home we had a fashion show for Dad, who pretended to be just as excited as we were.
Hi! I'm wearing Chanel Tijuana again--to answer your ? from yesterday--it's a sheer raspberry with bronze tones--I'm one pale critter so this is about as deep a lippie as I can work--topped with Sue Devitt Talitha.
My favorite shopping experience was the annual Nina Hyde Breast Cancer Sale. Nina Hyde was the much-beloved and much-admired fashion writer/editor for the Washington Post. Each year designers would donate samples, one-offs, stuff that didn't sell and there would be an annual fashion frenzy at the DC Armory. $10 got you in the door and a leaf-raking size bag placed in your hand. From then on it was run, grab, and try on! My best finds were an Abraham black viscose bolero originall $900--I paid $65 and a lavender silk trench by James Purcell for $50. It was a great thing to do w/a few girlfriends--great "war" stories and the knowledge your $$ was going to a good cause but the event was more exhausting than running a marathon!
I hope you all have mad success on your shopping trip today! cheers, Sara
Lippie today: Clinique Colorsurge Impossibly Glossy in Cream Soda. It's a mini size and came as GWP. It looks like a plain rose colored gloss, but it has iridescent rose-gold fleck in it. It looks fairly natural, but when you move your lips, the flecks change color & sparkle. I wouldn't have bought this on it's on, because I don't particularly care for Clinique Lip Glosses. I think this is one makeup category where their fragrance free policy works against them:)
My favorite shopping experience wasn't about getting a good deal. Like MissManners, it was more about being with my mother. She was on vacation at the beginning of July, and I had pre-paid for both of us to go to an event for Estee Lauder at Macy's (in Lima). They had a national makeup artist there. My mom never spends very much money on herself, especially when it comes to department store cosmetics. But that day, she let herself go, and didn't worry about the prices. We both had a mini-facial by the SAs and then had our makeup done by the MA, who was out of Chicago. It wasn't that big of a deal to me, because I try to go to every "local" event that I can and I've been to several. But that day was special. We were laughing and giggling. I had never seen her like that. After we had our makeup done and bought some of the products, we walked around the mall. She was absolutely glowing, and it wasn't all from the makeup. We had so much fun that day. We didn't go anywhere special after the event, just over to B&BW, where she bought herself some much-needed & well-deserved products. Even though she had me return a few of the cosmetics that she knew she would never use (eyeshadow & foundation that she hadn't opened), that day remains my favorite. I've been watching out for more "local" events, in the hopes of creating more memorable shopping experiences with my mother.
I'm wearing HIP l/s in LE Ecstatic and HIP l/g in LE Energizing. Both are a similar nudes.I like them alot and they smell like pound cake!
My best shopping stories are with my girlfriend Deadra. We have very similar tastes and were close to the same size. She would shop any where too. Target,WalMart, nordstroms, Good Will.Plus she was a product junkie. We would got to the Walgreens across the street from our dorm and stay hours playing in the makeup. But she was very much a girl who could not live without being in a relationship. so she met a guy on a blind date and year later they were married. I miss her but you know people grow apart. We have different lives now. But I have tons of crazy stories like us getting up at 8:00 am to hit every Victoria's Secret Semi Annual Sale in Charlotte for the"good stuff".
She was and still the only person I can shop with. I rather shop alone, now.

Today: I'm going with the VOV Automatic Candy Gloss, the shade of which I have now been able to identify (through a web search) as Pink Gold. Yesterday I did a repeat of Revlon's Raisin Glaze lip gloss.
I'm also going on a shopping trip today, too. I've always thought that every shopping trip is better than the last, regardless of who I'm with and where I go. So I'm optimistic about today.
(Maybe today I'll be able to get more lip gloss...)
MAC Apres Sol lipstick with MAC Glamoursun gloss.
Favorite shopping...on trip to NYC when I was 15 (1985), getting a pair of black satin evening pumps at Charles Jourdan. (Manolo of the 80s?)
Today I wore Maybelline Wet Shine Fusion in Rose 'n' Shine. Nice sheer consistency, natural pink tint, maybe a tiny bit too much sparkle for me. I've been feeling very drugstore the past few days... I'll try to pick something more glamourous tomorrow! :)
What great stories!
I wore Revlon ColorStay Soft & Smooth in Pink Delight and TooFaced Diamond Gloss in Candy over top.
Perhaps the best shopping story I have is when my Mom took me to get a pair of shoes. She was teaching me how to sew, I must have been around 12 or 13 years old. I made a yellow dress and it was actually wearable! The fabric cost $2. She was so happy that I had made the dress, she took me to a very chic shoe store and bought me a pair of yellow shoes to match the dress. They were $22. It was a fortune to me! It was not just the shoes, and the price, but the approval and validation from my Mom.
I have a feeling that our Annie will have a great shopping story to tell very soon here!
this morning i put on Nars Pigalle with a pinky Lola gloss over it ....
one shopping trip I remember was with my friend Tina who, at the time, was told she was in remission from colon cancer ...so we hit Bergdorf's and Madison Ave to "thank the shopping gods" ... today is the anniversary of her death 3 years ago, but I will always remember that wonderful day when anything seemed possible.
