Well you're the real tough cookie with the long history
Of breaking little hearts, like the one in me Before I put another notch in my lipstick case You better make sure you put me in my place (Benetar)

From left to right:
Lippman's Dark Side of the Moon, YSL's #20 Plum Velvet and Lippman's Hit Me with your Best Shot.

On Saturday Griffie did a comparison test between Lippman's Dark Side and YSL's Plum Velvet. Lippman won hands down.
The rich eggplant color had a deep rich pigment that applied evenly and smooth. YSL was more of a flat plum shade with no luster or shine. On its first & second application it went on streaky and uneven.

I asked her to try Lippman's Hit Me with Your Best Shot because:
1. I am obsessed with dark polishes.
2. Who does not appreciate Pat Benetar?

It is a great shale black shade.
Like a piece of coal.

Right! Who doesn't love Pat Benatar? She's the best!

Another great eggplant shade, Annie, is OPI Eatin' Eggplant. It is so dark purple, it is almost black as midnight. :):)

Hugs,
Violetnoir

Annie, I just got OPI's Romeo & Joliet & its beautiful! All this Vamp and Black Satin is wearing me out so I wanted a different shade but from the vampy family. Its vampy brown w/ shimmer....yes more shimmer!

I've never heard of Lippman's before (ah, the luxury of living in the middle of California). I scoped out the website and I absolutely LOVE the names for their colors!! Who wouldn't love a nail polish called 'Dark Side Of The Moon'? I can only imagine painting my nails while listening to the album (vinyl only!) on the record player (dreamy sigh here).

ps;
Pat is (still) the (wo)man.

So---I've never left a comment here before---but I'm chiming in with my deep (but not black) nail polish vote. And the WINNER is Cover Girl 3in1 continuous color in Rouge Vamp. I tried Wicked---loved it, but didn't want to buy it, so in searching the local beauty supply store (the one Not located in my bathroom) I found Rouge Vamp and cannot tell you how much I love it! Ok, so maybe this post let's you know a bit. Anyway---that is my two cents. Go out and spend $3 to try it.

Violet: I have never heard of this one. It sounds really good.

anon: I can not resist shimmer!

Tnaya: I love the names of the Lippman polishes too. The quality of the polishes is impressive. I see why they are $$$. One coat gives some great pigment. No streaks at all.

shopgirl: I will have to check your page out! The dark nails are here to stay...until spring. But rumors are that Chanel is coming out with a black polish for spring.
We shall see.

Anon: Thanks for commenting!
I plan to hit a drugstore tomorrow to check this out!
