Tom Ford's Black Orchid Finishing Oil Review
I have a weakness for tropical finishing oils. I own Nars Monoi Body Glow II and Estee Lauder's Tom Ford Azuree oil. I wear them exclusively in the summer and layer them with tropical themed fragrances like Bond's Fire Island or Monyette Paris.
This oil is based on the original Black Orchid fragrance, which I was not a fan of.
To quote one of my favorite readers Rach..."Good Gravy Martha!"
What makes it more tolerable to my skin than the original fragrance?
I am going to guess that the addition of apricot kernel oil has managed to settle down the black truffle note. Now the note adds an earthy sensuality to the scent instead of morphing into "damped earth" on my skin. I have no science to back this theory up. I might even be biased because I am cuckoo for tropical oils but I can not smelling my wrist.
It leaves just a whisper of fragrance and the oil settles into the skin quickly. Lasting power is fair. I get the faint whiff of incense after a few hours of wear.
Just a brief note, the bottle looks like the original fragrance. I have been playing with the photoshop program on my brother's computer.
This product is available at Neiman Marcus, Saks, Bergdorfs,Nordstorm and Bloomingdales and launches this month.

I'm with you on this one! The Finishing Oil translates so much better on my skin than the perfume does! I want to try the cleansing oil next!
I want to try the shampoo!!!
Oh, I'm so touched to be called one of your favourite readers! I adore Black Orchid in its original form, and I'm all about body oils so I simply must try this. Although, that said I took home a sample of my first Serge Lutens fragrance the other day (Fleurs d'Oranger) I get the feeling my fragrance budget for the year will soon be all spent...
I'm one of the few that love Black Orchid (the original). I'm super excited about this because I thought for sure I was going to have to put it away for the summer. But if it layers well with Monyette, then I'm set!
Hi there:)
I've been wearing this Azuree oil by Tom Ford for Estee Lauder for years. I finished my last bottle (I stocked up!) last year and haven't been able to find it since accept online via amazon. I'm a little worried to purchase it bc if the fragrance isn't on production anymore I wouldn't want to get an old bottle with an old alter scent.
Do you have any tips on where you got your recent bottle and if it was recently produced??
Much anticipating a relpy
xoxo
Jennifer
