Bond 9's Andy Warhol Lexington Avenue: Annie's Review
It is better than Chinatown
Lexington Avenue is the third in the Warhol fragrance series from Bond 9. Lexington was chosen due to Andy Warhol living in various apartments on the avenue in the 1950's. He was working as an illustrator for the shoe company I.Miller. These illustrations provided the inspiration for the Lexington Avenue flacon. This bottle is whimsical and fun.

I thought I knew what to expect when I sprayed the tester of Lexington Avenue.
This fragrance exceeded my expectations and made my soul twirl. I made two calls.
The first was to Patti aka Cavewoman. The second call was to Shawn at the Bond store. I reserved my bottle. I am not sure if there is a waiting list in place but I had to get on it immediately.

Why am I chomping at the bit?
This is better than Chinatown.
What I have said is blasphemous to friends and old timers from the makeupalley fragrance boards.
Lexington Avenue takes the Chinatown idea of a floral woody chypre and tweaks it.
The tweaking starts off with a glorious opening of top notes. It begins with Blue Cypress. Wood notes generally appear in the drydown . I love that the comfort aspect of the fragrance arrives first. The woods are joined by a licorice-like Fennel note. Slightly anise-like but with more smoke. It is joined by the Chinatown Cardamom. This is where you will notice the similarities of the two fragrances. The comparison fades with the appearance of the genius addition of roasted almonds.
This is where my mind reeled.
I can not even begin to describe what this does to this fragrance formula. This is the home run part. Somehow it just smooths the spices out. This is the way a gourmand should be done. This is for the woman who wants to smell delicious but not like a cupcake.
The middle floral notes are a big bold pink peony, with a rooty orris and an Amelie worthy Creme Brulee. This is not saccharine sweet. You can almost taste the burnt crust. The fragrance ends in Chinatown fashion with pimento berry, patchouli and sandalwood.
This scent is so damn good.
I did not think the house could top Chinatown.
They managed to do it flawlessly in a quiet way.

Sillage and lasting power is not as strong as Chinatown but I will have no issue reapplying throughout the day. You just want to douse yourself with this fragrance.
The fragrance will be available at Saks Fifth Avenue, Bond No 9's four NYC boutiques, and online at www.bond9.com

This Sounds heavenly, I LOVE chinatown and was considering an order in a couple of days. Should I wait to sniff this? You think I may be able to order a sample from the store right now? I am dying to sniff it now!

JLH: I do not think there are samples available yet. It is being launched in september and they were kind enough to send me a decant.
I would wait before caving on Chinatown. That is how much I love Lexington! SERIOSLY!
oops...SERIOUSLY.
i have tried and tried to like the Bond scents, but i seriously HATE them!!
Since your review is so glowing I will have to check it out.
I hope it smells as good as the bottle looks. Can't wait to take a sniff.
Annie my mind is reeling! Better than Chinatown?!!?? I am thinking of our fun time at Bond that summer day. Chinatown is my favorite Bond so I can hardly wait to try it!
Sounds amazing! This spring I spritzed on West Side in Bond's West Village boutique and literally couldn't stop smelling my wrist the whole evening. I caved and bought a bottle the following day.
I am not sure if there is a waiting list in place but I had to get on it immediately
What a glowing review! I *really* love Chinatown, but after reading this, I'm going to have to run out and give Lexington Ave. a try when it comes out. I'm not so sure about getting on the waiting list though - my shelves are so full right now!
Annie!! I miss you ;) Seems like forever. Hope you're doing good and enjoying your summer. And wow-- if every Blogdorf reader doesn't go out and buy Lexington after that review, I don't know what to say! Big Hug, Erika
Anon: I think it is worth checking out. This gets me more compliments than Chinatown ever did....so it must be good.
Let me know if this is the Bond fragrance that changes your mind.

Oh - you had me at fennel...great another covetable fragrance that I can't afford.
If anyone knows of a place that sells decants please do share!
I am SOOO tempted to buy this unsniffed! I wonder if Bond has samples for sale yet? The shoe bottle is (as Samantha on SATC would say) fabulous! Must. try.!!
Kathey
I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU.
I have just returned from a week in Tuscany and I am now going to find a sample and smell it and figure out if you are correct or if you are on shrooms.

Patti gave me a sample of Lexington Avenue and I wore it today. Yes, I agree it is better than Chinatown!
I couldn't agree more Annie. I can't stop spritzing myself with my just-arrived bottle of Lex Ave and I love it! It's unlike anything I've smelled before and it's ultra-addictive. Great review!!!
