Day 27: They're so DAZZLING!!!
by MUA's Cavewoman
Ms. Blogdorf and Ms. Cavewoman have many things in common, our love of all things NYC, our taste in fashion, our addiction to beautiful coats, our never-ending quest for the most comfy yet stylish flats, and our love of everything that sparkles. I think my Mom should have named me Raven. I'm attracted to anything shimmery! And Ms. Blogdorf and I share our love of the most beautiful, sparkling, shimmering lipglosses we've ever found, the MAC Dazzleglass. Originally launched in May, 2008, the collection of 16 colors was an instant hit not just with us, but with MAC fans everywhere. Colors sold out at counters within hours. Ebay listings flew into high bids with lightning speed. Raves were posted on makeup chat boards, and the buzz was nonstop. I loved the colors and especially the applicator, which is a brush instead of the usual sponge-tip. These glosses stay where you put them and don't migrate out into the lines around the mouth, and they keep their color and shimmer for hours. They don't feel gritty or sticky, either.
The colors in the photo are part of that original release. Ms. Blogdorf and I found a few at the Estee Lauder Cosmetics Company Store near us a few months ago, just by chance. We were giddy! We never dreamed there were any more available after the initial sell-out at the counters. We bought.
But do not fret, gloss lovers! MAC is promising to return ten of the original shades and seven new ones in a collection called Double Dazzle, to launch on April 30th. You know where Ms. Blogdorf and I will be on that day!

I am going to get Sugarrimed again along with a backup! Heck...I might get three.
I have Date Night and it is gorgeous, although a bit too sheer for me.
It does look spectacular layered over my Nars Pigalle lipstick, which is too matte/dry on its own.
MAC is one of only two decent lines I can access here, so I check your blog often to see what's new and exciting.
I hear that the shades from last year that are re-released (like Sugarrimmed!) will be permanent, and the new shades that are will be LE. HTH!
I saw Extra Amps and Smile today at my local MAC store. Extra Amps is a bright pink and beyond pretty. I plan to stock up big time on the upcoming collection.
Ooo-How I heart me some dazzleglass!
Tell me, how much do I need Sugarrimed? What's it like?
Testing...I think I am finally able to post! I never did see these in person! Maybe my next trip to a big mall!
I love lipgloss and I love MAC!
Annie, I have a feeling we'll be doing lots of CAVING when the new Dazzleglass are released!
Susanna, some of them are more sheer than others, that's for sure. I agree that most of the NARS lipsticks are dry.
Suzanne, I'm so glad that the re-releases will be permanent. Thanks for the info!
Junkie, how did you get to see them so soon!!! Lucky!!
Stef, Sugarrimmed is a pale pale pinky-beige gloss with multicolored shimmer. It's a wow!
Pattayyyyy! I am so glad you are here! Make a note to hit the MAC counter on April 30th to see these! You won't find them until then, since the first round sold out so fast. But, Annie and I did find a few at the CCO Lauder Outlet store a few months ago. If you have one of those stores near you, go see!!
