High Lemming Alert: Revlon PhotoReady Foundation
Tell me everything you know about the New Revlon PhotoReady foundation!
Have you seen it at stores? Did you purchase it? How is the coverage? Is it as "kick ass" as everyone says? Do I need to jump in a car and start hitting every drugstore in town?
My inner lemming monster is awake and ready to pounce! Tell me the deets in the comments.

I'll be waiting for reviews also. I'm wondering if it'll be a cheaper alternative to the MUFE HD, which is my HG right now.
I'm liking it a lot so far! The main complaint everyone has is that it's shimmery but it's really NOT cullen-esque. it just makes you look glowy! it has medium coverage but you can build it to make it more medium full. it's generally better on oilier skintypes.
Have you seen the craze over it on the MUA board? XD Yeah, a lot of people are toting it as a dupe to MUFE HD, though it sparkles. I'm personally going to check out my local CVS today, though I don't think I'll buy it yet.
I actually did a very quickie review on it. I love this foundation - you should definitely check it out!
It kicks poor Carmindy's ass. :)
It is natural looking (applied with a Sephora #55 brush), lasts forever (15 hours yesterday!), and blends extremely well. I've only been using it 2 days though, so I've no idea what it will do to my skin in regards to breakouts, etc. Will keep you updated!
In answer to your question, though, start up that engine and hit up all your drugstores, 'cause this foundation is unbelievable!
I just bought this foundation today at CVS for $13.99. The display was placed high up on the shelf and I had to ask a worker to help me get it down. I can't wait for the other Revlon promotional displays to be taken down and placed in the front of the store because I saw a lot of stuff that I was interested in (like the new Revlon Luxurious Color Eyeshadow singles and the Revlon Illuminate Collection). I've been eyeing the Make Up For Ever HD Foundation for a long time now, so I'm glad Revlon has made a cheaper drugstore alternative. I've read that L'oreal is launching its own HD makeup line, including an HD Foundation called Studio Secrets, sometime in 2010. I do like the PhotoReady Foundation because the formula is so thin and lightweight (lighter than any other liquid foundation I've tried!), but still offers lots of coverage. You really do get flawless and poreless-looking skin. When I tried this on one side of my face and used regular foundation on the other, it was obvious that the side with PhotoReady looked much better. The funny thing is that this foundation formula is pretty matte in my opinion, but contains tiny pieces of shimmer/glitter. I have dry skin, so I always mix a bit of moisturizer or MAC Strobe Cream with my liquid foundations before I apply them. I didn't do this with the Revlon PhotoReady and I noticed that my skin looked a bit TOO matte/dry. However, the shimmer particles attempted to give my skin a false glow, which didn't look too realistic. I like foundations that give me a natural and healthy-looking dewy finish, but when I examined my skin up close in the mirror, I could see the obvious shimmer. Next time, I will try adding a little of moisturizer so my skin doesn't look dry, but I do wish there wasn't any of this fake sparkle. The packaging is great because it has a good-quality pump, which means you can actually control how much you pump out. Plus, it's hygienic too. The clear cap also locks onto the bottle with a satisfying click, so I won't have to worry about it falling off. I am a MAC NC30 and I bought this in "Golden Beige", which was the only color that sort of matched me. It definitely does not have enough yellow undertones though. I was a little afraid that it wouldn't work on me when I read that others were matching it to MAC NC35 and NC37, but thankfully it still blends in with my skin nicely. Also, note that the "Golden Beige" for the PhotoReady Foundation is actually darker than the one for the Colorstay Foundation, so you might want to keep that in mind when you are deciding on a shade.
hey, go to this post by BuyMeLipGloss as she has FOTD with this foundation on! I think it's so nice and may be comparable with my HG MUFE HD!

I'm hopeful, but it hasn't hit town yet. Maybe next year. Like, August or September.
I love Revlon for the colors -- I can always get a perfect match. That means that I own six or seven different colors in two different formulations. I can be white and dry, white and dewy, less white and dry or dewy. Almost tanned and oily or dry, your choice. Tanned and, yeah, oily or dry. More tanned, less tanned, losing the tan, lost the tan, white again. Only Revlon is willing to see me through the annual progression with minimal stress.
MUA loves it beyond reason. Can't wait to give it a go.
It's a medium coverage foundation that's easily buildable without it looking cakey. I think I did 3 layers and it still looked like my skin. Those with imperfections/acne scars will need a concealer. Limited shades at the moment, they'll hopefully have more lighter and darker shades when it fully launches next year. I picked up 008 Golden Beige (I'm an NC35 in MAC) and it was a great match. When viewed up close (I looked at my bathroom mirror), there are noticeable shimmers in the foundation. Not big gritty glitter, but shiny particles that I guess are supposed to blur out your imperfections? Might be a negative aspect to those with already oily/shiny skin (such as myself). It isn't longwearing, especially if you have to blot every few hours (my makeup was gone by 5 o'clock, start my day at 9). I had even used a great primer (Givenchy's Mister Mat).
Overall, it makes my skin very even in tone, kinda airbrushes it? I think it would be a good foundation for already perfect normal/combo skin, but for my oily skin with scars, it's a no go. MUFE HD is leaps and bounds better IMO, but this is a very budget friendly alternative.

Please let us know how it works out.
I saw it in the store and ALMOST bought it! I wanted to wait for the reviews.... :)
buy it!!!
i bought mine 2 weeks ago just because of curiosity..
i didn't know about the review then..
when i tried it, OMG..
it's my new HG foundation!!
i wear that to work, and i work almost 10 hours in a restaurant..
u can imagine the sweat and oil all over my face..
but this baby stays on all day..
it gives me full coverage too..
i use it with mac concealer and loreal mineral powder, and i look flawless!! ^^
Yeah, Annie, you need it. I found it over at CVS on Mahoning on my way home from Mom's the other day. It is beautiful, it reminds me a bit of my Rimmel Recover, it does have teeny shimmer particles in it. It lasted all day on me, with my usual PX serum and moisturizer under it, this one is worth seeking out.
I don't know, though -- I just picked up the Almay longwearing foundation, and it's great. I knew from past experience to go a shade darker than I THOUGHT would match. Eight hours and still looks good. I'll try the Revlon, but this stuff definitely has a happy home with me. Slightly dewy, but I haven't needed to blot.
I think I'm the lone dissenter here, and I so wanted to love it :-/
I have normal-to-dry skin, and this just sits on top of my skin, very obviously. Which is exactly the same reason I hated MUFE's HD foundation, as well. Every pore seems magnified (and my pores are small!), and the matching powder (both with Revlon & MUFE) do nothing to improve the look at all.
I'm so disappointed, and mine are definitely going back :-(
PS -- FWIW, I didn't have any sparkles in mine.
I love you Dissed!!!!
))))Dissed((((
Patti: Which shade did you get?
Thanks for all the feedback. I will be attempting to find it this week. The sparkles worry me a bit.
My skin is struggling with the decision to be dry or to produce oil at 2:00pm. I am currently testing BB creams. One day I will love and worship Shills BB cream...and then the next day...I will curse it. BB creams are HUGE over the pond in Asia.
I have moved away from foundations and have started using tinted moisturizers. Foundations have started to look too heavy.
My life and skin is changing dear readers!
What do you think of a skincare project for lent? 40 days and 40 nights of skincare reviews?
Sooshi: It looks FABULOUS On you.
I also loved the post about the lashes(You are making me unearth my Nars Nightclubbing shadow) and that toast makeup bag.
I am going to add you to my link list!!!!!!!!!!
***Love***
Lipstick: Thanks for the feedback!I hope it does not magnify my pores. They are already too large.
i am so looking forward to 40 days & night of skincare reviews! can't wait!
Annie, we are either 003 or 004, either one is ok for us.
I'm mostly using tm's these days too. It's the weather.
Hey Annieytown! This afternoon I visited an Ulta in NE Georgia, and I'm pretty sure they had never heard of PhotoReady. The deer-in-headlights look is a dead giveaway . . . they thought "maybe" they would get it with their next delivery. I don't think they'll ever get it, considering that they weren't familiar with Carmindy.
I love the way MUFE looks for at least 15 minutes after application. After that, it gets busy plugging up my pores while somehow looking oily at the same time that it feels tight and dry. **is old and difficult**
I'm in Denver and Ulta's ad insert in today's paper was prominently advertising it. I haven't had a chance to run out and get it yet, though.
OMG, someone copied and pasted the review for the Revlon PhotoReady Foundation (the 6th comment on here) that I wrote on Makeup Alley!! I don't know whether I should feel insulted or flattered...
Rita: Oh my lord...which one?
I will delete it.
I really hate that. So many of my blog posts have been stolen.
Once my whole blog was stolen and posted on a livejournal account. The only way I found out was when my friend's sitemeter went off the hook. She followed the link...and there was my blog posts...on someone else's blog.
People that steal blog posts & sploggers suck. That said, I'm voting for your 40 days/40 nights skincare feature! :) And I'm testing the Revlon Photo Ready right now & I'm liking it--I think you should give it a try.
It's the 6th comment, which starts with, "I just bought this foundation today at CVS for $13.99..."
I'm actually not particularly bothered by the fact that the person posted my review up here (I mean, I'm sure it was meant to help others), but the person did it without citing me. It just feels wrong, like something was stolen from me. A simple "this review was taken from a reviewer on Makeupalley.com" would have been much better.
I'm sorry about your stolen blog posts!! That's awful.
I saw this at Rite Aid and can't wait to try it after reading all the news on it!
Hey hun, I accidentally came across your blog and even though this was a post from about a month ago, I still wanted to comment on this. I bought Revlon Photo Ready foundation yesterday and I fell in love with it today! I don't think I'll ever buy another foundation, unless something better than this comes up. Everyone needs to go out and buy this, it's seriously PERFECT in every way. Coverage is super good, leaves skin absolutely flawless (even though I don't have any major skin problems), I picked up medium beige and it's just perfect for my skin tone. You must get it if you didn't already!
i just bought this with the translucent powder to go with it..havent put it on my face yet just my hand. so far im Impressed its definitely dewy and with the luminous quality kinda like hyper real foundations that mac discontinued but more subtle. once i put the powder over it it looked really lovely though. smooth and glowy.
i think ill do a full review on my blog!
I'm NC20-25 and got this in Shell, so far so good! Still using this for a few days before posting my review..
I'm a MAC NC25 and bought Revlon Photo Ready foundation in 006 Medium Beige. I've found it too much darker than my skin but I can't return it since we don't have return policy here. Doesn't want to waste my $$, hence I mixed my Revlon with Maybelliner Angelfit C03 liquid foundation (which is fairer n pinkish for my skintone) together in order to get the right shade for me. I have no idea whether this is a good idea or are there any side effects in between but it came out 'almost the right color'.
