Which One of You Bitches Is My Mother?

Some Thoughts On MAC's Love Lace Collection

Love Lace is a MAC collection that was launched the day after Christmas. It is one of those collections that flew under the radar. It was a small collection that featured the mighty return of Feline Kohl Power liner, 4 lovely eye shadows and a taupe lip gloss.

It appears that the inspirations range from the lace on the runways(think Prada) to Evita. The collection scews cool and intense. My first thoughts were of this reference:

If you were a child of the 80's, then you know how utterly shocking this mini-series was. My mother flatly refused to let me watch the Lace miniseries. She said I was too young. This was devastating to me. I remember sneaking into the living room and hiding behind a chair to catch glimpses. Lace was glamorous and a 100% naughty.
I wanted to watch and live it.

MAC's Love Lace has a naughty vibe. There are edgy liners, smoke worthy shadows and pillowy lippies. I received three pieces from this collection.
A steel blue shadow called Love Lace. It looks amazing paired with grey and brown eye shadows. It also pretties up a smoky eye. I have had much success with these blue machine gun greys.

There is a new kohl power(or what I refer to as Cat Power) pencil to love. It is called Sense of Style. MAC describes it as a "blackened deep marine blue". It translates as a soot with flashes of a cornflowers. I am smitten with the kohl power's pigment depth and softness.

The sleeper of the collection is a non-assuming lip glass.

It is called Utterly Discrete. This lippie is a cool toned taupe with flashes of pink. I have worn it successfully alone or layered over pink lipsticks. I prefer to wear it solo. It cools down my pigmented lips and looks sophisticated. It is in the same family as Bobbi Brown's Black Pearl and Lipstick Queen's Big Bang's Space.

MAC's Love Lace Collection is currently at your local MAC counter. Let us know what you think of the collection in the comments.

LACE!! Some of Phoebe Cates "finest" acting. Gawd, I loved that mini-series.
Oh, yeah, I also need to get my hands on a Raven e/l, too.

I loved the book too, I felt so naughty reading it! Remember the orange silk knickers? seemed so decadent at the time ;)

Lace was awesome! They tried to do a second part to it that was awful where she was trying to find her father.

My best friend and I read the Lace books covertly in summer camp and then we weren't allowed to watch the miniseries! Now I can't get Phoebe Cates saying "Which one of you bitches is my mother?" out of my head. The bluish-black eyeliner and the lip glass look terrific. I'll have to check them out at the MAC store. I'm getting a little tired of Teddy and have been looking for something to change things up.

The flashback provided by the tagline to this post made me blush! "she couldn't possibly be referring to... OMG!" I love it. I might just head to the shop for the lipglass simply for the reference.

thanks!

The best parts of Lace are the clothes and makeup. The extreme shoulders on the suits, the brown blush. Oh my. Fabulousness.
