Deep Blue Something

A review by Jessica M
Remember Noxzema? Of course you do. Actually, it never went away, and now the classic facial cleansing cream has been repackaged in a snappy new (but still blue!) jar. A few brand-new Noxzema products have also been introduced.
I’m not generally a facial-wipe user; I prefer to remove my makeup with actual makeup remover, then use a facial soap or a sudsy facial wash for thorough cleansing. So, when a public relations company sent me a pack of Noxzema Clean Moisture Makeup Removal Cloths (full disclosure!), I tucked them into my tote bag and figured that I’d pass them along to a friend. They stayed there for a few days.

Then the temperature soared into the high 90s, and one steamy afternoon I found myself trying to catch my breath after some errands around town, realizing that I had ended up sticky and sweaty just in time for cocktails with friends. I ducked into a department store restroom to repair my hair and makeup, and then I remembered: the Noxzema cloths were still in my bag. I whisked out a couple of them and went “off label,” using them to wipe down my arms and my legs and the back of my neck.
These cleansing cloths have the classic Noxzema scent of menthol, camphor, and eucalyptus, so they smell invigorating (but also soothing, because it’s such a familiar smell). They also felt fantastic that day, giving my skin a cooling, tingling sensation; they removed sweat, subway grime, and my general feeling of heat-wave despair. I was revived and ready for my next stop. I may just end up carrying them around and pulling one out whenever I’m overheated and wish I had a “re-start” button. It’s not how they’re actually meant to be used; but they’re easy to take along, they work well, and the price is right. I don’t think Noxzema would mind.
Do you still use classic Noxzema, or have you tried any of the new Noxzema products? Feel free to comment!
Noxzema Clean Moisture Makeup Removal Cloths sell for $3.99 (for a pack of 25) at drugstores.
