40 Days and 40 Nights of Primers

Primer #10
In the name of research, I forced myself to head to the Clinique counter to try their primer. I have rarely had any success with anything from Clinique, other than their Gentle Light foundation (which is now discontinued, even more reason for me to just pass by the white lab jackets and minty-green packaging.) I once had a very bad experience with their amazingly popular (a mystery to me) 3-Step program. It took my skin 6 months to recover from that disaster.
But 40 primers in 40 days means I must sacrifice myself, set aside prejudices, try to be objective, give every product a fair chance. I should have known better at the Clinique counter.
Clinique offers a Pore Minimizer as their primer. A small green tube holds this product, easy to squeeze out the right amount, nothing wasted. This is a thicker-type silicone-based product that I could definitely 'feel' on my face. Foundation goes on smoothly, and indeed as the name promises, pores are definitely made less visible.
But it was the following day when I noticed something I never see on my face. The primer had caused me to break out like a teenager in the throes of puberty! I had clogged, inflamed pores all over my nose! Dozens of red dots and whiteheads! Clinique Pore Minimizer gave me the worst breakout I've had in 40 years.
I packed up the tube and sent it to a friend. It is her Holy Grail.
Rating, 1, purely subjective of course, your results may vary.
I'm staying away from the Clinique counter.

Yikes! That is my nightmare and why I waited so long to try a primer. Since you haven't gotten to my primer of choice yet, I will not name any names. But I look forward to your review of it, Miss Patti :^)
Is it Nars?
BTW: I have shamelessly begged Peej for a flea market recap. You know that I must have a play by play of the day.
I *miss* flea market shopping with you.
I'm not saying until Patti gets to the right primer. Then, I will be all in her face if she does not give it a 10. Bwahahaha.
I will send you both a recap of the flea with photo evidence of some of my great finds. Then you will start planning a trip here finally... BTW: Peej isn't allowed to post here until she gets it together and gets an avatar photo with her new Jackie O pillbox hat. LOL!
I am drinking coffee with the Coffeemate creamer. We don't have vanilla nut here, so I had to try Toffee Nut. It is good. :^)
Clinique always dries out my skin and Pore Minimizer was no exception. I could it working on someone who has very oily skin with noticable pores.
Wow, this is a huge commitment. Cool blog!
I love the 3-step program from Clinique. But the rest of their products make me break out. Weird.
Love reading the primer reviews!
The whole Clinique thing is WEIRD! I tried Clinique's Dramatically Different Lotion back in the early '80s when I was around 17 or 18 and for the FIRST TIME in my life my skin broke out.
It freaked me so much I've avoided any skin care product from Clinique ever since.
I don't know weather to be happy or horrified to find that I wasn't the only one and that so many others shared the nasty experience.
What I DO find downright shocking is that Clinique is STILL using a formula that can damage the skin of someone who has never before had problems and this is over 20 YEARS later!!!! Aaaakkkk!
