Rock the Gloss Challenge for Tuesday August 15th 2006:
My gloss for the day is MAC's Who's that Lady.
What is your lippie for today?
From Lipstick by Jessica Pallingston: Mary Quant was a great innovator in lipstick, creating the famous flower vial and revolutionary colors but she caused problems in her other pursuits. Quant also invented the miniskirt, and protests arose outside the vatican when women wearing her creation were barred from entering. Wearers were also subject to jail in Greece-and perhaps the most horrible of all- were banned in America from entering Disneyland. These women should have just stuck to Mary Quant lipsticks, which came without such heavy restrictions.

I'm pretty sure there are only six brothers in Jersey! LOL! Some day we will have one of those luscious-looking desserts.
One of the very first garments I made on my own, without Mom's supervision, was a black velvet Mary Quant shift, with long sleeves, and a white crepe ruffled collar and cuffs. I wonder if my Mom still has the pattern in the sewing machine drawer.
Good morning! :)
I'm keeping things simple today, with some Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in Glossy Rose. This is one of my favorite drugstore glosses. (Another is Neutrogena Dreamy, which I need to repurchase.)
The mini banned in Disneyland? Lol!
I'm wearing Clarins Le Rouge Sheer Lipstick in #50, with Mac Lip Pencil in Chestnut.
Mary Quant was such a revolutionary. I remember that the proper length for miniskirts in my sixteen year old opinion was so that my fingertips grazed the hemline when my arms hung at my sides. Shocking--I don't even wear my shorts that short now! The lipstick is terrific, though. Patti will have to let us know if it's vintage.
My lips started the day with a coat of Cat Cosmetics Roar gloss. I had to give a speech to 300 people and I thought my lips could roar even if the rest of me was a quivering mass of nerves. Of course, I ate off all the gloss in my nervous nibbling, so my lips are both naked and shredded at the moment. I fully expect to be fanned from the blog for these infractions.
Banned, not fanned. I caught my first spelling error, which was blob instead of blog, but I still fanned it. Darn.
Miss Manners! The Mary Quant line of cosmetics was at Bendel in NY but only for a short time, and it was so adorable, you could choose shades and make a palette. I never got to do that. I hear there is a Mary Quant store in NY but I still haven't found out where!
I am sure you were wonderful and poised in giving your speech!!!

I am finally commenting here, on favorite subject, by the way. (You even inspired me to write my own blog - all about lipgloss - yes, just lipgloss!)
Anyway, today I am wearing MAC's Charm Factor, with their newest lipgloss, Plusglass in Pretty Plush over it. Charm Factor is in the peach/apricot color family r - sort of like the darker color you see on a peach, with a bit of frost. And Pretty Plush just makes it look a bit more frosted with some added sheen.
Pretty!

(hi, annie!)
Hello! The gloss today was Armani Lip shimmer in #4. It's a very cool-toned sophisticated taupe-lavender version of the nude lip. I was wearing all lavenders and mauves today, so I figured, what the heck! I love it!
I haven't been around for a bit, but I have been doing Rock the Gloss:) I have been going through my two collections of Smashbox's Mini-Glosses. Even in their mini size, I have yet to find a gloss that I have used to the last drop. The only tube I've every emptied is Patricia Wexler's No-Injection Lip Plumper, I know, very sad for me:( Anyhow, today is Pout. It is a very pale pink, no glitter or shimmer, just shine. "It's lip injection in a tube", or at least that's what the host was saying as I dialed QVC at 4:00am!
When I was in high school by best friend's sister was a sales rep for Mary Quant cosmetics. She gave us these fabulous creme eyeshadows in glass pots that were almost a metallic green & blue. We had so much fun with those!
