Rock the Gloss Challenge for Wednesday August 9th 2006:
I am wearing Duwop's venom gloss in lantana. It is a sheer hot pink.
The ingredients are cinnamon, wintergreen, ginger, jojoba, avocado, sunflower oil, beeswax and green tea.
It tingles but it is not uncomfortable or painful. It actually feels fresh. Like using a breath mint. The cinnamon and ginger are supposed to increase the circulation in your lips. I let my co-worker Gela test this with me this morning. She said that her lips feel alive. I think my lips feel awake. They feel ready to take on the world.
Plus my lips feel so hydrated. They are not sticky(such a wonderful plus!) and the gloss is staying in place. There is no mess on my coffee cup. The gloss feels like silk. It has such a great texture. They are scented with vanilla, cinnamon and other spices. It smells wonderful!
The glosses are named after poisonous plants. I think that is an adorable touch.
Some information from wikipedia about the Lantana plant:
Lantana is a genus of about 150 species of perennial flowering plants, native to tropical regions of the Americas and Africa. The species include both herbaceous plants and shrubs growing to 0.5-2 m tall.
Lantana's aromatic flower clusters are a mix of red and orange florets. Other colors exist as new varieties are being selected.
Lantana berries are poisonous. Lantana flowers and berries are attractive to insects and birds.
Thumbs up on this product! I am smitten!
Update: I am letting other co-workers try this. They are going nuts!! I have never seen any of the products I have brought to work cause this kind of frenzy.
What is your lippie today?

I am amazed. I've never even considered trying the Venom, mostly because the whole plumping phenomenon seemed like it would be over-the-top with this mouth of mine.
But now I'll have to give it a test drive at least.
Today's lip: Revlon Superlustrous in Cherries in the Glow. I'd forgotten what a perfect sheer rosy pink this was.
I am wearing Burt's Bees lip shimmer in Rhubarb. It also has the lip-tingling effect and is made from 98% all natural ingredients.
Oh, I have some Venom lipstick in Azalea...very pretty, and it does feel so good. I'll have to try the gloss.
But not wearing that today...NARS Dolce Vita, my favorite neutral pink.
Lip Liner: MAC Red
Lipstick: Dior Positive Red
Lipgloss: Bourjois Effet 3D in Framboise Electro.
It's a big red lip look for me, I am trying to be Tania.
Annie ...I hope summer is treating you well ... I'm just about ready to head back to my side of the Atlantic but first I need some advice. What daily moisturizer would you recommend for a european woman, recently 40, with a good complexion, maybe slightly dry, who wears no make-up not even lipstick except for the Burt's Lifeguard's Choice that I forced on her? She has finaly decided that she needs a little something each day but doesn't want to appear greasy - so it needs to be a dry-look product. I hope you can help ...
Best and thanks,
Richard
No lantana here, unfortunately... but I am deeply enjoying my B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful lip cream in Bellflower. It's a pretty lilac-pink shade with tiny silvery sparkles, and the consistency is smooth and moisturizing.
I'm wearing Loreal Colour Juice Mixer in Treble and Bass. Bass is Sheer red and Treble is golden beige.
I love the Venom glosses. Although I am obsessed with lipsticks and even more so with lipglosses, I hardly ever layer them. I cannot get past the thought that I am "contaminating" the gloss when I layer it over lipstick. It is particularly bad with glosses that come with their own applicators (Chanel Glossimer or Stila Lipglaze. However, I have noticed that even with glosses in tubes (Lancome Juicy Tubes), there is the potential of contaminating gloss with lipstick. I've tried putting the gloss on my hand and then applying it with a lip brush, but that is messy and inconvenient, especially with applicator glosses. How do you apply your gloss over lipstick? Or am I just being paranoid? Thanks!
Twilight Zone music should be playing now...
I wore Lip Venom gloss today too!!! My shade is Snowberry... about 85% of the lipcolors I own are burgundy-plums, and this is another. It has a little bit of a gold shimmer too. It's very dark and vixen-ish in the tube, but goes on sheer. I love the cinnamon-y essence of the lip venoms. My sensitive skin doesn't always take well to the ingredients, but it's not as strong a rxn as the original lip venom!
I have not tried any of the lip plumpers with cinnamon or sting type ingredients. I read that cinnamon, ginger and those kinds of tingling ingredients do increase circulation to the lips, but that is because they are irritants and are irritating the sensitive lip tissue. That is what causes the tingling, reddening and brief plumping. I also read that any type of peppermint or menthol ingredients irritate the lips and also the skin on the face. (Which is what we interpret as a cool or deep-clean feeling.) But, I read way too much and have to draw the line somewhere! I have managed to avoid those types of products on my face, but it sounds so yummy I feel like I'm missing out:) Although, I do use the C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint & Particia Wexler's No Injection Lip Plumper, which both are tingly and I love!
No mess on the coffee cup? You have got to be kidding me! I'm sold. Must try.
