Rock the Gloss Challenge for Friday August 4th 2006:
My lipliner is MAC Half Red and my lipgloss is MAC Longwear Lustre Lipcolor in Night Rose.
It is a very lovely muted rose lip look. The Half Red lipliner is a rose-ish plum color.
What is your lippie today?
You've gotta admit, you paint a pretty picture
No one would ever suspect, your so adept at the art
I hear the lonely lover sigh
You hide behind cosmetic eyes
Kiss them off with lipstick lies
Lipstick lies won't hide the truth
They won't keep you waterproof
The victim of your vanity
You're the picasso of pain, a fantasy in fleshtone
And though you're never the same
You're never far from the mark

Hi Annie!
Nightrose sounds pretty. Today I selected YSL rouge personnel in color 4. It's a med. nude-pink. What I like about this lipstick is that it can be super sheer w/1 swipe, but also very rich & dark just by swiping more times.
Have a great day!
Good Morning!
Today my lippie is MAC spice liner, using it to fill in the entire lip, then a light coat of LipFusion XL clear gloss.
Really pretty!!
Today's lip:
mark. juice gems in Juicy Fig. It's a sheer, shimmery gold. It smells great and gives a lustrous sheen! I've really been happy with all the mark. products I've tried. The only drawback - it has a sponge-tip applicator. I hate that.
Good morning! Checking in wearing Chanel hydrabase lipstick in Soft Mink with the Pagoda glossimer over it. Your challenge has revealed to me that I do not, in fact, like most of my glosses, and some of them are suspiciously old. It is time for them to face early retirement. I have learned, among other things, that I cannot, in fact, wear orangey-coral gloss. I had been deluded. I had bought several. I have attempted to leave the house in them, and every time I have seen myself in the mirror I have had to face the reality: they look like crap on me. A grand lip lesson, if not a grand life lesson. I will also note that I have a great new Smashbox lipgloss with fantastic shine, which I cannot wear because one of its components is honey, and honey, as we all know by now, can sort of smell like pee. Having it so close to the nose is actually extremely unpleasant, and the smell does not subside quickly. Life is full of learning, Annie.
Today: Chanel's Summer Plum glossimer over Fresh pencil in Gypsy Rose.
Good Morning.
Guerlain Kiss Kiss in Sexy Tango, blot, then a little BB gloss in Sand Sugar over it.
Have a great day!
Hey Annie!
I'm wearing:
Loreal Shine Delice in Grape Juice Sheer
MAC Cork l/l
Mark.glow baby glow in foxy
and VS Sweet Talk in Wild Berries
I'm really into this lip layering as you can see:)

Today I'm wearing W&W lipliner and Chanel #87-Lola a light peacy color great for summer. Low end and High really can get along together!
Mine is Clinique Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick in Berry Blush, which has been one of my favorites all summer!
Mine is kind of simple today. Just some MAC Rose de Sheer lipstain and Goldensoft lipgelee. Have to wear my MAC for a trip to the local CCO.
Also, I think I have to break down and get the YSL golden gloss now. Thanks a lot. ;)
Laura Mercier Secret Lips and Becca Amaretto Gloss.
rock the gloss indeed!
have a wonderful weekend A!

Today I pulled out a lip gloss that I've had in my purse and haven't worn in a while. I think the brand is FakeBake, even though the front of the tub says "Sparkle Babe". Believe it or not, I bought it at the Styling Salon in JC Penny's! (Us small town girls can find fab products anywhere) Anyways the color is "Domestically
Disabled, which is totally me. It's not flavored or scented, but the color is fabulous. It's a bright deep rose, almost fuschia, but it doesn't show up that bright on your lips. I was really impressed with this. It's highly pigmented, not at all sticky and very shiny with a bit of shimmer flecks that look like the same color as the gloss. The color sticks around too, which is pretty surprising for a gloss. This sucks. Now when I get my hair done, not only am I going to be buying hair products, but I've found YET ANOTHER place to buy makeup:) I love it!
Please don't kill me, but...What is so special about the YSL Golden Glosses? I know that they have actual gold in them, but is that the only reason they're so popular? Do they smell good, or do they have a good taste, or what? I'm just asking because I checked them out at Nordstorm and they are kinda expensive. Also, has anyone tried any of the YSL Touche Brillance Sparkling Touch for lips? I'm thinking about ordering one of those, Pink Quartz or maybe Petal of Rose. Please let me know:)
Lip-look of the day:
Liner was L'Oreal Crayon Petite in Warm Corals.
Lipstick was Revlon SuperLustrous in Coral Heat.
Lipgloss was MAC Lipglass in Ciao!Manhattan.
I went with the total warmtoned lip today because I got a Chanel blush that is corally-peach.
Chanel and Revlon peacefully co-existed on my face today!
Today I wore Senegence's Dusty Rose Lipsense (stay tuned to this review on my blog---lip color that lasts 8+ hours...what????! I know!)
I covered it with Pearl Shea Butter Gloss.
Ooh la shine!
Hi Annie,
I must say I love your blog and have been loyal since learning of you while reading my Allure! My rock the gloss for the morning was Shu Uemura lolishine in 353 (love the lolishines, lipstick while also being sort of glossy too) with a great new find Smashbox smashing mood, a lovely gold shimmer to add to anything. Afternoon was Lancome juicy rouge in carmel with the smashing mood on top. Question, I ran out and bought the Diorkiss orange nectar after reading the raves online, I love the color but the fragrance is so floral and strong. Does anyone else notice this?
Today's lip product is Tony and Tina's Herbal Lip Stain in Healing, which is dark purple in the tube but goes on like a dark blackberry. I bought this for $5 (I believe) when Sephora started phasing out the T&T line; it may still be available somewhere.
Come to think of it, I have way too many discontinued products... and I think it's about time I forced the rest of them into early retirement, as well! Aiyah...
anon: I did notice the floral scent!!!You are not alone. I wonder what they are scented with.
Have you tried the High Gloss from Estee Lauder. They are scented with fig and vanilla. I love it!
meimei: I miss Tony and Tina so much. They made great shadows and they had AMAZING brushes. I know that I cherish mine.
Miss TomFord:
What is so special about the YSL Golden Glosses?
They leave a sheer color with an amazing shimmer. I think this would be a great lipgloss for someone that does not like a heavy lip look. Plus it is not sticky, leaves no mess and keeps the lips in good condition. It also lasts well. My only complaint has been the actual tube. There is a defect in the design. Two of my glosses have had the rim pop off. The tube now leaks. I have to keep it upright in my purse and makeup drawer.
I know that they have actual gold in them, but is that the only reason they're so popular?
***The shimmer is the biggest selling point. However it has other characteristics going for it. They have a brush applicator...and there are people that hate sponges. I actually prefer a brush but do not passionately hate a sponge tip.
Do they smell good, or do they have a good taste, or what?
***I do not think it has a taste and the smell is a boozy vanilla.
I'm just asking because I checked them out at Nordstorm and they are kinda expensive.
***They are. I would try it first before a purchase.
Also, has anyone tried any of the YSL Touche Brillance Sparkling Touch for lips? I'm thinking about ordering one of those, Pink Quartz or maybe Petal of Rose.
**Not yet. I have been caught with the golen glosses. Let me know what you think.
Petal of rose sounds very pretty.
