Blogdorf's Recap of Lucky (August Issue)

It's the tiny details that make any look great, and I usually have something I'm really into," she explains. "for example, at the moment, I'm crazy about red lipstick." (Liv Tyler)

The cover look was all Givenchy.

Lippie: Pop gloss Lip gloss in Enjoy Red
Mascara: Eye Fly in Black
Foundation: Subli'mine Sculpt Light Makeup in Cream
Liner: Magic Khol in Black
Powder: Prisme Libre Air Sensation Loose Powder Quartet in Delicate Beige(This looks gorgeous!)

Page 56 Emily Top for $78 from Banana Republic

Page 98 Liv Tyler recommends Givenchy's Illicit Raspberry lipstick. It looks lovely.

Page 101 Shu Uemura Art of Hair Illuminating Treatment for $60. It sounds incredible. It is "infused with oils from the Japanese musk rose".

Page 102 Sonia Rykiel's Belle En Rykiel for $85 at Nordstorm. I did not see this the last time we were at the store. The notes are frankincense, amber and vanilla.

Page 104 Coral Spike Gloss
I think it is offical. I need Cover Girl's Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers in watermelon.
Smashbox's Lip Gloss in Heat also looks like a winner.

Page 114 Jean Godfrey-June is fabulous. I loved her witty blurb on YSL's Nail Touch Brush Pen. This gadget is both clever and fun. It also makes your nails look amazing.

Page 124 Kaori Body Wash in Refreshing Lychee. I totally forgot to look for this at Target last night. Anyone try this?

Page 129 Shu Uemura Art of Hair Shape Paste for $30. I want to smell all the Shu hair products! This one is supposed to smell like powder.

Page 149 There were some great clothing featured this month. I loved the black and white full skirt featured on this page. It is by Michael Kors and retails for 1,095. The gray patent leather pumps are from Mr Stuart Weitzman.

Page 153 The gorgeous wrap dress is from Rebecca Taylor. It is layered over a chiffon blouse from Forever 21.

Page 156 Chloe blouse with wide leg pants from A.P.C

Page 157 This is the outfit that made my mouth water. I have to replicate this for fall. If anyone spots anything that can recreate this look....email me at annieytown@yahoo.com
I am off to read The Secret to help me achieve this feat. LOL

Page 161-163 I really love this woman's style.

I really thought this was a pretty good issue. What did you think? What beauty items do you want to try? Anything worthy of lemming?

Ahhhhhhh, Lucky. I feel like I am breaking up with a boyfriend when I read that magazine. It just doesn't know who I AM anymore. To wit: the constant assalut of "floaty tops." These look like maternity wear on 80% of the women who wear them, even the skinny 20somethings Lucky appears to think is its total demographic. Jackets that belt somewhere under the bust AND stop mid-elbow: I AM NOT A CHIMP. The monthly featured ensembles of Andrea Linnett on the back page: um, no. Lately I've just been reading Lucky for the beautyu product recs. But I've found I can do better finding more authoritative (and not-advertising dictated) opinions on blogs like yours. So, Lucky? They're outta luck with me. I won't renew.

Mrs D: I love their beauty writing too!!!

Fashion in general has been hit or miss with me. I am hoping fall is better with more variety of choices.

I like reading Lucky but usually have trouble locating things found in the magazine. Even the websites and stores mentioned do not always have the products. It is really frustrating to read about something and not be able to find it. However, I will keep on reading the magazine and hope for the best. I did enjoy this August issue!
