Ashes to Ashes: MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator from the Future Earth Collection
I have been obsessed with volcanic ingredients since Armani released their Crema Nera. The Armani cream was inspired by the thermal baths at Lago Specchio di Venere and his vacation home on Pantelleria . The ingredients are silicon, iron, sodium, and potassium. These ingredients mimic obsidian, a mineral produced by the island's volcanic eruptions thousands of years ago.
The cream felt like heaven and carried a price tag that was jaw dropping.
Fast forward to the new MAC summer collections. They have released two products that boast ingredients straight from live volcanoes. They are formulated from volcanic ashes harvested from the island of Vanuatu.
I tested the Volcanic Ash Exfoliator. This is a combination of ash and sugar. It smells like olives and earth. The texture is clay-like with small sugar granules. It did not foam or lather but was 1000 times easier to work with than a traditional clay body product. It rinsed off easily with just water. That was impressive to me. I expected that I would have to scrub my skin down due to the ink-like darkness of the product.
The end result was pretty marvelous.
My skin feels great and there might be a slight glow.
Besides the fantastic results, this product can boast a great price.
This retails for $19.00( $23 CDN)
The Armani Crema Nera is priced at $225 while the rest of the collection ranges from $60-$80 dollars.
The only drawback so far was the mess in the tub. This product managed to get everywhere.
Luckily it rinsed away with just water.
There was no staining or scrubbing involved.

"there might be a slight glow"--LOL!
sometimes you are too cute for words.
of course now I need to try this stuff.
Now I am super excited about my MAC order for this product! I also recently ordered the Sekkisei (by Kanebo) Exfoliating Massage Gel from beauty.com and it looks like it may be similar in color and consistency - but different ingredients. I am going to compare the Sekkisei w/ the MAC and, when I have time, write reviews for both on MUA.
Jeebus, this sounds great. I'm heading off to the mall in a couple hours and will probably pick this up.
Another must try - thanks!
Re: Darth's comment - love the Sekkisei so it will be interesting to compare the two.
it sounds great (: oh and my little sister noticed a frog in the picture. haha. its in the middle at the top.
I might try it! Thanks
Firepail: I love it!!!
I want to try the mask now.
Darth: Write me when you do it. I love those type of reviews on MUA.
Will do!
I really enjoy the way it makes my skin feel, but I was weirded out when I looked at myself in the mirror while it was on.
Ohmigosh I adore this stuff! I found two at a local Nordstrm and immediately bought them. I even sent an email to MAC to tell them they need to make it a part of their permanent collection!
I checked it online and it says it's sold out, D: Is it possible that they may have some in stock @ the stores?
Anon: Try a Nordstorm search.
I always have good luck with that when it comes to disapperaing MAC products.
I have noticed that everything I love with MAC...sells out quickly. I wish I would have bought every dazzleglass.
Anon: OMG
It does look like a frog. I never noticed it before. Maybe it is a ghost frog. (LOL...watching too many episodes of Ghost Hunters on SCIFI!)
any parabens in the ingredients?
any1 has got the ingredient list?
thanks
