The World's A Mess It's In My Kiss: MAC's Cult of Cherry(more thoughts)
The theme was cherries and chocolate. It was a mixture of decadent darks and rich reds. I personally loved the ad while others said it was too 80's and too Boy George. I see an Exene vibe more than the man responsible for Karma Chameleon. For children of the 80's, Boy George did sport an eerily similar Cult of Cherry look for the singles cover.
The palettes and lippies are the standouts in this collection. Shadowy Lady palette contains the shades Light Fall, Smudged Violet(amazing!), Deep Truth and Shadowy Lady.
Spiced Chocolate is more warm with Nanogold, Spiced Chocolate, Brash and Sweet Chestnut.
There are two blushes being offered in this collection. Blooming looks like a dirty tan shade. In reality it is a strange rose/peach shade with a slight glow effect. It is a frost but the shimmer is on a low volume. Plum de Bois(pictured) is a frosty pink bronze with gold pearl. It is a blush version of the MAC lippie Creme de la Femme. I passed on both due to my MAC blush haul from a few weeks ago.
The lippies were very strong with this collection. There were the classic reds, dark plums and a lone nude,Creme Cerise. This was a yellow toned toffee color.
Lightly Ripe was a pink, Russian Red was a re-promote of their highly popular blue red shade,"O" was a red purple with a metallic sheen and So Scarlet was a wine burgundy shade. The lipglasses were "off the chart" good. Jampacked is a sheer jelly grape shade with red shimmer. This is the work friendly way to do a dark lippie for fall. It is gorgeous and really flattering.
Cult of Cherry is a true red gloss with red pearl. It has many charms but layered over pink lippies...it will give you goose bumps.
Rich & Ripe is a pinkish red pearl while Liqueur is a mousy mauve shade with pearl action. The mattenes range from deep berries with Rapturous to the inky eggplant of Bing.

I love this collection and bought an obscene amount of it. Lightly Ripe and Rich & Ripe are the most overlooked colors in my humble opinion.
It is easy to overlook these tawny pink based shades amongst all that deep cherry and chartreuse of Sharp but these are standout everyday shades that I bought in multiple.
This was a lovely collection, I wanted everything but my wallet and limited storage said no. I did end up with Kirsh mattene and Cult of cherry lipglass.
I ended up with more of this collection than any collection before it. I didn't get the Tempting quad (I got an eyeshadow to replace Sharp, and the rest I already had dupes for), but still got the other quads, and a number of lipsticks and lipglosses.
Something about this collection is just too good to pass up to me, and I'm happy that the other collections until the holiday ones don't appeal to me as much (so my wallet has a chance to recover).
Oooh, I so wanted to join the cult this weekend but totally chickened out.
I LOVE the combo of bright green with the darker cherry chocolate shades but I'm just so scared.
Now I'm rethinking Shadowy Lady!
SF: I agree! There are so many hidden nuggets in this collection.
Pavlina: Let us know what you think of it layered over a pink lippie. I thought it was sooooooooooo gorgeous!
Kaoru: The worst I ever caved on...was the Madame B collection. God...that collection was so damn perfect.
Always: I was too until I saw Judicas take on youtube. Scroll down and you will find the post.
Jaime: We were all surprised how it looked on the nail! Sometimes the descriptions are off.
I cannot wait for the mattenes. Last time they came out I bought a light peachy pink, whose name escapes me right now, and while it was lovely in the tube it made me look strangely ill when I wore it. This time I'm going straight for the reds. What did you think of Rapturous?
I LOVE this collection! I like the theme and I think the colors all blend very well together.
I bought 90% of the whole collection and have to say that besides the fact that every product is gorgeous....the most surprising product is the Powder Blush in Plum du Bois...people might think it is really dark but if you apply it with a light hand it will give you a beautiful bronzed pink (not orange)look. Gorgeous!
It's sickening how much money I've spent so far on Cult of Cherry, but this has been my favorite MAC collection so far, hands down. Everything goes so well with my skin coloring, so I've snapped up a few backups for a few products as well. The only thing I didn't really fall for were the mattenes, but I'm not a matte lip fan anyway, so...eh. The rest of the collection was enough to keep me occupied.
i caved on the non-standouts. i have to wear very approachable shades at work:
blooming blush
cherry blossom gloss
tempting quad
i am so happy with everything!
