Boys in Lipgloss
As a child of the 80's, I have always had a special fondness for boys in lipgloss. It all started with Adam Ant. His lips always sparkled and had a high lacquered sheen. Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran followed with his frosty pink lipstick. Their fondness for lippies and full makeup never stopped me from having crushes on them.
What do you think of boys in lipgloss? Let us know in the comments.

I also am a child of the 80's but I think makeup on boys is just wrong. I dated a guy in high school who would wear eyeliner occassionaly and it was a complete turnoff.
Love!
I think women's opinion about make-up on boys is either hate or love. One group thinks its unmasculine and would never get close to a boy wearing an eyeliner. The other group is attracted to the type of guys who can get away with wearing make-up, because alas it only fits a small percent of the male population, and considers it an aphrodisiac.
I'm obviously in the second group:) My dream boyfriend, (besides being witty, charming etc.) occasionally puts on eyeliner, mascara and lipgloss, plus he's straight and fancies me. An almost impossible combination, but one should never give up hope:)
Brian Molko is damn sexy and has the voice of a fallen angel.
I don't care for guys wearing lipstick. I don't mind the eyeliner. I've gotten used to that. But kissing someone who is going to smear his lipstick on me, yuck!
Nick Rhodes and Adam Ant, well and Bowie, can get away with it. Boys at the MAC counter always look adorable. However, in my daily life I would be taken aback to see a man wearing lip gloss. Most likely because I work in education....people tend to look very low key in this field.
I love Brian Molko.
I am on a major Placebo kick....
That is just gross and even mildly disturbing.
Well I for one won't go with a guy unless he's prepared to wear eyeliner – brain dead machismo has no place in my life.
I wish I could add that androgyny rules thanks to Adam (with and without his Ants) in the 80s, Marc Bolan in the 70s and Brian Molko in the 90s/00s etc etc. Sadly in this day and age, intolerance of the individual is becoming more apparent.
Come on boys, flaunt your eyeliner with pride!
Of course I meant 'lipgloss' rather than eyeliner but both are prerequisites in my house!! LOL
I don't care for lipstick on men, but I love me some Guyliner. :-D
It's a little contrived and trying-too-hard.
I, too, am a child of the 80's and I loved makeup on those gorgeous boys that wore it.
I don't mind makeup on boys as long as they are not my boyfriend - except of course if he was David Bowie.
Love it, love it, love it! Men in makeup exude confidence.
I had many of the same shades of lipstick that Nick from Duran had back then it seemed LOL. When I met him last year, I actually told him that I thought he always had the best makeup. Then I handed him my blog business card :)
No crushing on him though, just Duran love period. Simon was my guy.
Can handle guyliner, but not sure about lipstick on a guy unless he is rocker. Somehow that works. and black nail polish.
As a makeup artist there's nothing I hate more in male grooming when male models get shiny lipbalm. It's not masculine looking and give redder lips. It looks very "vain" and "MAC train wreck trannylicious". Those makeup wearing male MA's at the MAC store give us male makeup artists a bad name... I love the old style of Boy George, but let's leave that in the eighties. Make-up for men in the future will be less about copying a feminine look, but more about facial accessories or graphic designs/tattoo's etc
Makeup on boys=
NAUSEATING.
It's not about being unmasculine..it's just that a guy who cares so much about his appearance must lack a lot of personality he's attempting to make up for. I think it reflects problems within, that superficiality rules him.
My two cents..
(of course, one of the new American Idol contestants, Adam, is a boy, wears tons of makeup, and seems to have tons of personality..so this doesn't apply to everyone..)
P.S. I am from Pakistan & it cracks me up that eyeliner is the hot new thing. Back in Pk, only the old "babus" wore it..old religious men, or villager men. Why? Because the Prophet recommended everyone (male and female) to wear surma, a kind of medicinal eyeliner. lol..maybe that's why makeup's a turnoff for me..reminds me of those old men with henna-tinted beards!!
Love it, provided they take the time to learn how to apply the stuff. I think we will be seeing more and more make-up on men, actually, but probably more along the lines of bronzer, concealer, tinted moisturizer, lip balm and the like than eyeliner and lipstick, at least for a start, and on "regular guys", too. It's all good in my book.
My man doesn't wear make-up much anymore, but he's very good at it when the mood strikes - foundation, powder, defined eyebrows and a discreet smokey eye. It doesn't have to be androgynous.
I'm with you, Goodman. I've always found boys in lipgloss incredibly arousing. Adam Ant...yes. Nick Rhodes...not so much. David Bowie...oh, yes. And all the boys in Velvet Goldmine...oh my, yes.
