40 Days and 40 Nights of Beauty Cult Classics
Day 5, Becca Gypsy Pressed Powder
Gypsy is a plumish pink highlighter/blush that looks bold and slightly terrifying in the packaging. On the cheeks it transforms into something subtle and glowy. Most plumish shades can give a "bruised" look but Becca avoids this with the addition of a slight gold sheen. The pressed powder is finely milled and comes in a sturdy compact.
The reason why I chose this product as a cult classic is due to the fact that it took me a solid year to get my hands on it. Bergdorf Goodman was constantly sold out of it. I finally scored this compact at some random Sephora. I stared at it for a moment thinking it was a "beauty mirage". I also managed to grab the loose Gypsy powder and was momentarily famous for it. I was the girl on MUA that actually had one. Of course, the fame was very brief and only included a small band of friends.
Gypsy is lovely and actually worth the hype.

Lovely stuff, as always!
I really enjoy your work! Congratulations!
Kisses from Portugal.
Gypsy was an accidental purchase on my behalf. I had fallen for Becca like a ton of bricks and already had Angel, Odette and Mermaid. Gypsy made it through my front door in a NM Holiday set from 2006. When my friend and I opened our sets we both thought, "When in the hell would pale me ever be able to wear this?" It took me about 2 weeks to build the courage and I was amazing at how beautiful the color was and how the golden shimmer added this built in highlight. Gypsy is beautiful and looks good on almost anyone. I bought it for my mom last year with a bunch of other Becca goodies and it was the first thing she gravitated to (second was the Rose Quartz SSP).
All I can say is I love Becca Gypsy!
Becca's pressed Shimmer powders are amazing! They are the most beautiful shimmer powders I have found. I use to own Nymph and it was a truly gorgeous highlighter.
If your doing cult products, Annie, I hope you give Becca's creme blushes a go! They're all the rage, and Wild Orchid never seems to be in stock. :-)
I will definitely have to try Gypsy! I'm familiar with the Becca line but have never used this blush. Right now I am an avid user of Chantecaille Cheek Color in Joy. This subtle rosy powder creates a believable flush, even on the palest skin. It is also infused with a vitamin cocktail and has a light texture. Applying it before powder creates a lit from within look. http://www.beautyinchelsea.com
I've had some experience with Becca, but have never tried Gypsy. I'll have to give it a try!
That's so odd. It looks like a blush but it comes with a puff like a regular pressed powder...? I am confused, but then again that happens easily.
Rach-
Each one of the Becca Shimmer Powders comes with a puff. I think it's more there to protect the product but the PSP's come in so many colors that some are blushes, some are highlighters, one is like a bronzer on me and a few you can use all over if you wish. I don't know that that truly helped you but you are not the first to wonder why the puff.
Still Becca makes the best shimmer products, in my opinion, on the market.
i've never tried any becca product but since everyone's raving about the shimmer powders, i'm gonna have to check them out.
Storybookheroine - thanks for that, it makes more sense now. I wish I could share the enthusiasm, but my skin is horrendously oily so I avoid shimmer. Becca's mattifying primer is very good, though.
I scored a few Becca PSPs in the big Sephora sale, and I adore them. I like wearing Gypsy as a blush with Angel layered on top as a highlighter.
