Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Powder

This is part of their high definition series created to deliver flawless makeup that is camera ready. It is comprised entirely of mineral silica powder. I have mixed feelings concerning this product. I found this powder formula to be one of the most lightest I have tested. This is lighter than a feather. When you use it some particles escape and create a cloud of powder that slowly floats to the ground. This powder cloud dissipates like smoke.
It goes on lightly and does not cake or clog the surface. The actual texture on the face is beyond flawless.
However it adds a ghostly tint on the face. It gives that dreaded gray cast that most translucent powders do. If this had just a smidge or tint of color it would be spectacular for me. It retails for $30 and is available at your local Sephora.

Have you tried Darac's Sifted Blur? I love it, much better than this.

Annie, I totally agree. I am already pale, and this powder turns me into Casper. If it had just a touch of tint it would be mesmerizing.

I love that it controls my excessively oily face. I try to use a little less to avoid looking ashy which tends to happen when women of color wear translucent powders.

I love this stuff. It feels light as air, but I have to agree that it could use just the slightest touch of tint it would be perfection. I have medium/olive skin and I haven't really had as much of an issue with the color as I thought I would, but I always only use a tiny bit. I've been using a deluxe sample I got of it from Sephora for a couple months now. My mom loves it too.

By the way Annie, how do you always find out exactly what products MAC uses for certain fashion shows? I was wondering because I am dying to find out exactly which MAC products Tom Pecheux used on the models at the Balmain Spring/Summer 2009 show. I've looked everywhere, but can't find anything. Help please!

This only happens if you use too much- you should use a very small amount of this powder. If you still find you don't like it try aromaleigh which has a dupe for this for about$12 and two colors (the white and a darker for those with darker skin)

I have the Translucent Loose Powder from the now defunct Pout cosmetics line. The powder itself is comprised of mostly of silica and talc but has a slight peach tint to it, so it doesn't wash me out like MUFE's powder does, it simply brightens my skin. To add to that, the powder is so light and sheer it's like wearing nothing at all.

many people reported this make their face gray. i wonder why it didn't work for me either. other than it's teh finest milled silica powder, i don't see anything fantastic about it.

I'd need to get one, the one i am using now is close to an end (not the same product, though) I'd love to try this.

I have this. I actually like this product as it sets my makeup nicely. I find it disappears completely on my skin and leaves no residue whatsoever.

I love the light as a feather consistency of this, and the fact that it's ridicuously finely milled, but tend to prefer my La Mer powder (which is just as fine and even more gorgeous) for the fact that it comes in various shades, including one with shimmer!

I love this powdr and I don't find that it turns me gray but if it does for you and other I highly recommend using La Mer's Translucent or other loose powders. they are just as finely milled and work just as well as MUFE HD powder. I have both and I can't decide which I like better. they are both excellent!

Annie I have to politely disagree, on my wedding day the makeup artist used this powder to seal and set my makeup (temptu airbrush stuff) and i have to say my face looked flawless all night long. i believe this powder is meant to be used on top of foundation so it melds with the fdtn shade. anyway, as with all cosmetics what workd for some may not work for others.
love your blog!

The biggest waste of money and the worst powder I have ever used. No oil control power, no "blurring" of any kind. It made every single flaw I just spent the time covering with foundation and concealer completely ridiculously magnified.

Love this powder! It's traceless on the skin!

Anon 1: I have never tried it.
It is interesting that it can also be used as a primer!

Firepail: I know!!!!
Just a hint of something can make it mindblowing.

Anon 2: It is the finest milled powder I have used. It is like applying smoke to your face. I am pale and it makes me look ashy.

Kristen: MAC sends show recaps to various bloggers. I search through style.com and other sites for photos. In the beginning, bloggers just had to guess. Companies have come to realize that beauty junkies love to know the real products used in shows.

Anon: I have a light hand when it comes to powder. I used various brushes but nothing worked. Which brush do you recommend?

mandypandy: God...I loved Pout.

jojo: I wish it would have worked for me. It really was finely milled and made the skin look fairly flawless...it just made me look ghostly in a bad way. It was too graying.

ishy: It was a spectacular powder...just did nothing for me. I wish it would have worked.
