Zoya Fall 2007 Collection
Dramaqueenie2 is the one that alerted me to the new Fall Zoya collection. She stated that it was spectacular and lemming worthy. DQ2 is my nail tech editor and confidante. When she says something is heart stopping gorgeous, then you not only listen, but you purchase it the first opportunity you get.
As always she was 100% correct about this collection.
It is stunning.
It is broken into two parts.
The Uptown Collection features red based shades while the Downtown collection is filled with dark shimmers ranging from navy to eggplant.
Freja
Freja: A gun metal gray shade with a smidge of dusty lilac shimmer thrown in. This is a pretty feminine version of all the blacks on the market.
Kotori: A shimmery sheer intense teal with a black base. This layers very well with dark based shades. The shimmer power packs a powerful punch. It is also gorgeous.
Reg Ray is a shimmery eggplant. I have not seen or tested this shade personally.
Kotori and Indigo
Tess is duochrome rose shade
Chelsea is going to be a hot at my nail salon. It is a candy cane shimmery red that will be perfect for holiday pedicures. It shimmers and pops.
Andi is a deeper and more blue based red. It reminds me of a British hunting jacket.
Quinn is a burgundy that leans on the purple side
Coco is a dusty brown based red. This color is off the charts unique and fabulous. In the bottle it appears to be a plummy pink.
Paige is like Coco but with more of a pink based red. I am guessing that DQ2 will be able to nail descriptions of these last two colors. I am at a loss to be able to describe them with accuracy. I have spent the last two days going back and forth from saying they are pink based plums to muted reds.
Downtown
Downtown
Freja: A gun metal gray shade with a smidge of dusty lilac shimmer thrown in. This is a pretty feminine version of all the blacks on the market.
This is the one that will fly off the shelves.
Indigo: Marianne from Koneko Mostly Beauty Diary nailed it when she said that it reminded her of Vincent Van Gogh's Starry Night. The deep mysterious navy twinkles and sparkles with every turn in the sunlight. This is my personal favorite from the entire collection.
Kotori: A shimmery sheer intense teal with a black base. This layers very well with dark based shades. The shimmer power packs a powerful punch. It is also gorgeous.
Reg Ray is a shimmery eggplant. I have not seen or tested this shade personally.
Suvi is shimmery hunter green. The sparkle is less intense to the power of Kotori but they share the same sheer black base. This takes 3 coats and over to achieve it's full effect. It is worth it though. I predict that DQ2 will fall under its spell.
Lael is a deep eggplant creme. There is no shimmery or spark but it is rich and captivating.

Can you tell me where you can buy Zoya nailpolishes?
Emily -- you can buy Zoya polishes from the Art of Beauty website http://www.artofbeauty.com Art of Beauty is the parent company.
Annie -- from which show is that fabulous grey patent leather shoe?
Anon:
1. No
2. I think Sephora might still carry it. I have spotted some products at TJ Maxx.
Oooohhh, I wish I could check it out locally!! But I'll go with yours and DQ2 recs and will certainly buy Kotori online and likely a few others!!
All Laquered Up gives great advice about improving the wear of Zoya polishes. She writes "...I've read complaints about wear [with Zoya]. I've even heard it from my own nail tech and esthetician. The main issue is that the polish peels within a day or two of application. However, that seems to be that case more often when using a quick dry top coat like Seche Vite or Poshe.
After speaking with reps from both Zoya and Nubar, it makes sense that using a non-Big 3 Free top and base coat with a Big 3 Free polish would cause peeling, bubbling or shrinkage (pre-mature pulling back from nail edge). So I decided to give the entire Zoya family of products a trial run to test the theory. I used Zoya Anchor base coat, Zoya Sweet nail lacquer, Zoya Armor top coat and Zoya Hurry Up quick drying drops. Here are the results after 5 days of wear. See the pictures of her test and read more about her observations at http://www.alllacqueredup.com/
