Day 37: Designer Lipsticks
Lancome Pout-à-Porter designer lipstick series

Can I say that I miss the days when Lancome created special edition lipsticks for NY Fashion week?

For those who are unaware, for one brief moment beauty junkies had cutting edge lipsticks created by the minds of Lancome, Gucci Westman and various designers. The color would be used for the runway show then released several months later at Lancome boutiques and selected departments stores. Lemmings were created and dashed within 24 hours. They were hard to find and would often fetch high prices on Ebay.

It all began with a little lippie called Color Design Pout-a-Porter Lipstick in Behnaz.
It came and went within a blink of an eye. Not many were lucky to score a tube. I have only met one person who owns this lipstick. It is Julia from All About the Beauty.
We bonded instantly.
Behnaz is a red that defies all descriptions. It is not warm or cool. It is lit from within. It is brightening and dazzling the moment it hits the lips. The formula is creamy and luxe. It is lippie nirvana. Lancome nailed the perfect red.

Proenza Pink was from the dynamic Proenza Schouler duo. This was a very hardcore shade. It was a pepto pink with a surf girl vibe. It was harder to wear but very cool.

Peter Som's lippie creation was called PS Kiss. This was a merlot shade that was more matte-like. Coverage was buildable and varied. It could be heavy and dramatic or worn as a stain.

Thakoon's lippie was called Pixel Pink. I never did get my hands on this lippie. It was a bright raspberry pink and was considered by lippie aficionados as being the most flattering.

I miss this series from Lancome. I dream that one day Behnaz is made again and is available to beauty addicts everywhere.

In exciting news, the Lancome team has created a blog. It is written by Kerry Diamond. I grew addicted to the site after the first day. My favorite post has been cross hatching. Make sure you visit and bookmark it at:

The only one that I got my hands on (and love!) is Peter Som's. I'd love to see what Angel Sanchez would do. Maybe crazy Issac Mizrahi because he seems to be such a fan of color. Same for Galliano ... although I like when they choose a design collaboration w/ someone who isn't hugely known yet (like a Galliano, Posen or Jacobs). Maybe Thakoon. I think it should be a designer who has a vision for and incorporates, in a meaningful way, color into their collections. Will Lancome keep doing it?

I would love to see what Betsey Johnson would do! I love everything of hers!

For the fashion/beauty obsessed I found a new series on Glamour.tv called Tressed To Impress that I am obsessed with. It's like the best of the Hill's and City with a hair care twist!

Also, if you log on to Glamour.tv you have the opportunity to win free product and a chance to star in a Glamour.tv episode...super cool!!

I have the Peter Som's one, too. It's such a prety color, and I love wearing it because I feel like I need to be a bit more dressed up and who doesn't love to dress up?

Missoni, maybe?

Oh, not, it's day 37 already? Noooo, I want more!

I ended up with PS Kiss and Pixel Pink. I tend to wear PS Kiss on all my special occasions, I LOVE it. I think I would like to see a Missoni collection as well!

Gorgeous colours. I am drawn to Proenza Pink although I doubt I would wear it wear.
