Do We Need Any More Orgasms?

The answer is yes.

This arrived in my email box yesterday. As a fan of the blush and The Multiple, this is exciting news. Let us know if you are looking forward to this Orgasm flanker in the comments.

Straight From Nars: Introducing ORGASM ILLUMINATOR, a scintillatingly sheer, weightless fluid that instantly makes skin refreshed, radiant and glowing. Flecks of gold, peach and pink shimmer softly diffuse light, melting into the skin to allow natural luminosity to shine through. (sounds pretty)

Apply ORGASM ILLUMINATOR all over the face for a barely-there, healthy glow. (This is a recipe for disaster for me!)Use as a highlighter for a glimmering accent on the cheekbones. Layer it under, over, or mix directly with NARS Foundations for added overall brilliance. Wear it on the neck, shoulders or décolleté for a silky, subtle, eye-catching sheen.

The ORGASM ILLUMINATOR, a new product category for NARS, joins the cult-followed collection of NARS Orgasm-hued products, which includes Blush, Lip Gloss, Nail Polish and The Multiple. Revered by makeup artists and consumers worldwide, NARS Orgasm products have been the recipient of numerous beauty accolades.

NARS ORGASM ILLUMINATOR contains raspberry and black currant; bisabolol; Indian Frankincense, Panthenol and Sodium Hyaluronate. (This could smell fabulous!)It is non-comedogenic.

Nars Orgasm Illuminator retails for $29.00 and will be available February 2010 at Sephora.

True Love Waits

The spring press releases are arriving in my mail box. I got excited by the Nars offering based on the description below.

Inspired by Catherine Deneuve’s role as Lucille in La Chamade, the NARS Spring 2010 Collection features soft, sexy shades that are as elegant as they are versatile.

I was stoked until I saw the pictures. The lippie looks Chamade worthy but the grape nail polish has me at a loss.

“I love Catherine’s makeup look in this movie,” says François Nars, Founder and Creative Director of NARS Cosmetics who chose supermodel Amber Valletta for the campaign. “It’s very sophisticated and bourgeois in a Parisian ‘16th Arrondissement’ way. She is the perfect reference for this collection, and apropos for spring, a time to embrace color and get noticed.”

NARS Cruising Lipstick- $24

This subtle, sexy pink lipstick hue provides a sheer natural long-lasting color

NARS Lip Gloss- $24

Easy Lover-Serious luster meets sexy color in this ultra-sheer hot pink lip gloss

Ophelia- This high-shine strawberry nectar lip gloss is deliciously sweet and seductive

NARS Purple Rain Nail Polish - $16

This intensely gothic purple is a bright and audacious shade destined to become a modern classic. (nothing says Catherine Deneuve like a Prince song!)

NARS D. Gorgeous Single Eyeshadow-$23

This dusty lilac powder eyeshadow yields just a hint of flirtation, but never misses its mark

NARS Camargue Duo Cream Eyeshadow-$32

Named for the deep, dancing, sun-cast hues found in the French river delta, this pairing of golden moss and sienna, with multi-colored reflections comes in a soft-blending, glistening cream eyeshadow formula

NARS Kuala Lumpur Duo Eyeshadow-$32

Like its Malaysian city namesake, this perfectly harmonized gold infused rose and boysenberry pairing is influenced by contrasts—rich and subtle, traditional yet modern

NARS Glitter Pencil-$24

This bright sky blue, silver glitter-infused hue delivers powerful, vibrant color that slides on smooth and remains creamy for blending

The Spring 2010 collection will be available on January 15, 2010 at narscosmetics.com

Has this collection arrived at your counters yet? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Santa cutie, there's one thing I really do need...

Once your look is complete, pull up a playlist and let the Makeup Player blast out your favorite tunes while you finish getting ready. Right now there are lessons for natural look, smokey eye and many more to come- perfect leading up to the holidays when you want to be your own pro makeup artist and try out some new looks.

40 days and 40 Nights of Beauty Cult Classics
Day 25, MAC Kitschmas Pigment

Kitschmas is a silverish lilac pigment that gives just a subtle dose of frozen violet shimmer.
This popular pigment has a slightly chunky and grainy texture. This means that the wearer has to deal with serious fallout issues. Many MUA members recommend mixing medium and MAC paints to help minimize any messes.

This pigment was relaunched in the Originals collection along with the famous Parrot. Both did not survive long at the counters.

At one point this pigment went for over 100 dollars on Ebay...

Was it worth the hype? Or does it pale in comparison to other MAC pigments.
Let us know in the comments.

40 Days and 40 Nights of Beauty Cult Classics
Day 4, Essie's Mademoiselle and Ballet Slippers

These are two of the most popular shades from the nail polish company Essie.
According to my nail tech, these are the shades that are the most requested and often "borrowed" from her salon.

What makes then worth a life of crime?
They have a quiet elegance about them.

Mademoiselle

Mademoiselle is a charming sheer pink. My nail tech uses it straight or layered with other shades on clients.
The first coat applies slightly streaky and milky. It is more nude. The second coat is where the whispery pink color appears.
I have seen superior results on both warm and cool toned skin for Mademoiselle.
It is really about luck with this one.
Layering it with Essie's Marshmallow creates a stunning french manciure. It is very elegant and feminine.

Ballet Slippers

I personally find this shade to be overhyped.
The color is nothing to "jump hoops through" and it requires too much effort. Excessive effort for me is to apply more than two coats and to fiddle with applying a top coat everyday.
Drying is also an issue.
After application of Ballet Slippers, I overstay my welcome at the nail dryer by ten minutes. I leave thinking I have finally beaten the curse of Ballet Slippers.
Halfway through the week I will nick or smudge my nails.
I swear on my Behnaz lipstick... that this shade never fully dries .
The shade is a creme champagne nude with white undertones.
Let us know what you think of these shades in the comments.

Getting Nailed Poll:Code Blue

I have decided to give OPI's Russian Navy a try!
At first glance this polish appears to be a blue violet purple color.
The first coat is a royal blue with red shimmer.
The 2nd application is a deep and dense sapphire shade.
What nail polish did you choose this week?

Disclosure: I tested this polish at my local nail salon.

Miss Popularity by Benefit

This is a white shimmer highlighter with a wand applicator. This makes application less messy and more precise then using pigments.

It also helps with overuse. I am guilty of going overboard with shimmer products. I like a lot of sparkle for my buck! The first application is just a whisper of the product. Coverage is subtle and buildable.

It retails for $24 and is available at your local Sephora.

Clinque Supermoisture Makeup

My co-worker Sandy is testing a new foundation from Clinque. Supermoisture foundation is described as "ultra-creamy yet refreshingly lightweight."
It looks creamy enough to spread on toast and feels whispery light on the skin.
Sandy liked the moisturizing benefits but felt that the coverage power was lacking. It took some layering to achieve the flawless coverage that MAC Studio Mist foundation gave.

Sandy used the Golden shade. For reference Sandy is NC 45.

Clinque's Supermoisture foundation is currently available at your local counter. It is priced at $22.50.

My co-worker Sandy is currently smitten with this foundation from MAC.
It provides surprising coverage with a light texture.
It sets within 30 seconds and is buildable.
I was so blown away with the results that I plan to visit my local counter to find my match.
For reference, Sandy is NC 45.
It is priced at $28.50 and is available at your local MAC counters.

My #1 Fragrance Lemming: Bond 9 Saks
The Special Edition Blinged Out Bottle

The bottles, shaped like typical Bond flacons, are emblazoned with the store's iconic, black-and-white logo. Rahme has also designed an eye-catching special edition 3.4-oz. bottle of the women's scent encrusted with 350 Swarovski crystals on the front, 350 on the back and 300 on the outer carton for a total of 1,000.
An edition of 500 pieces has been made and they will retail for $550 each. The regular men's and women's bottles will retail for $125 for 1.7 oz. and $185 for 3.4 oz. (info from WWD)

I would love to find something like this in my Christmas stocking.
I have seen it in person and the photograph does it no justice.
It just shimmers and sparkles like it is on fire.

Early report on Covet Fragrance

An email from Griffie:

I can't believe I am saying this, but Covet is amazing, really amazing, and the sillage is gorgeous. As you know, I do not love, or even like Lovely, but this Covet is really good. Perhaps the best lavender blend I have encountered. I am this close to caving. The chocolate is so subtle, it does not register as chocolate. Something about Covet reminds me of Sensi, but it is better. This is a very wearable fragrance, perfect for weekend, work, etc. I can't believe how much I love this...
The bottle is darling, but the little flower cap is a disappointment, it has a hole in the middle, like a donut and fits around the nozzle, like a sun visor as opposed to a cap. Oh well...
Talk to you later, L

Anyone test this fragrance yet?
What do you think?

Jungle Fever

Chanel's Jungle Eye Shadow from the Fall Collection is a lovely forest green shade with shimmer.

James at Saks used it wet to line Griffie's lids. The effect was so gorgeous that we practically rang it up for for her. James uses saline solution instead of water because it somehow manages to make the shadow last through out the day with no smudges or flakes.

YSL Lip Plumper with SPF #10
Shades are Plum and Coral
Retails for $25

Description from Saks website: this new gloss instantly plumps-up lips while gently pampering them. In the heart of the formula, fill-in micro-spheres associated with YSL exclusive Hyalufix complex gently rebalance the lips' volume to offer them a natural fuller appearance. Vegetal oils specially chosen for their anti-free radical and nourishing properties ensure day-long comfort and well-being. SPF 10.

It feels like a treatment with no nagging or uncomfortable tingling or burning sensations. However, there are better lip plumpers out there. My personal favorites are from Duwop. Duwop's plumpers also feel like lip treatments but they actually physically alter your "smackers".
You will see a visible difference in your lip size.
The color selection is more vast and the price is better.
Duwop wins hands down.
