Space NK Seduction Review

Pursuit and seduction are the essence of sexuality.
It's part of the sizzle.
Camille Paglia

This lotion is temptation in a bottle.
It is a moisturizing blend of Shea and cocoa butters, wheatgerm, sweet almond and sesame oils with antioxidant vitamin E and A. My skin drinks it up quickly.

This is the nitty gritty facts about it.
It is an ultra fine lotion that rivals many high end products. It makes the skin feel like silk and leaves no greasy residue.
However... this is not the reason why I am "head over heels smitten" with this product.
It is actually the fetching and intoxicating scent.

Seduction is a green based fragrance with a heart of fig leaves and dollop of freesia. The drydown is a fabulous base of amber and musk.
The drydown is what captivated me.
And to my delight I have discovered that once again Christopher Sheldrake is behind my smitten status. He collaborated with space NK founder, Nancy Kinnaird on all the Space NK scents and candles.
No wonder why I covet them all!

Hand Lotion retails for $28.00
Hand wash is $24.00

Getting Nailed at Dashing Diva

One of the many highlights of my NYC trip is when the Total Beauty gang took us to the nail salon Dashing Diva. This salon is known for their fabulous nail lacquers, high end service and Girls Night Out promotion. Every Thursday and Friday evening customers are treated to free cosmos with any service.

The Total Beauty girls were treated to manicures and delicious cosmos. The manicure included many perks such as massages, scrubs, and hot towels. There is something about your hands being encased in a hot towel that makes your toes curl. The manicure was highly relaxing and made my tired, overworked hands feel like a million bucks.

Dashing Diva is very well known for their line of nail polishes. They have a healthy range of reds, pinks and corals along with some truly unique shades like celery green to a gray pink. I explored the stock with Michelle from All Lacquered Up, Kristen from Beauty Addict, Erika from Makeup Bag, Sara from Bitten by the Beauty Bug and Connie & Carolyn from the The Daily Obsession. We dished on color choices and fussed over their shimmery navy shade. I chose a blue toned pink that reminded me of OPI Japanese Rose Garden. It was wildly inappropriate for the season but I could not resist its charms.

Dashing Diva has locations in the US(NYC, California and North Carolina), Japan, Singapore, Australia, Philippines and Kuwait.
Visit http://www.dashingdiva.com/
to peek at the nail polishes and to learn more about their services.

Sugared Plums Are Yummy
By Melanie Parker

Fall is the perfect time of year to wear the saturated jewel tones, autumnal oranges, and plum colors of nail lacquer. This Fall I find myself wearing a lot of gray and teal in my wardrobe, and I think a deep plum nail looks great with these tones. I like a little length on my nails, and so the trendy black polish looks a little too much like olives on my fingers and a rich plum is more flattering with my skin tone. OPI has two great shimmering plum polishes: Have You Seen My Limo? and Lincoln Park At Midnight.

The new OPI Have You Seen My Limo? from the Holiday 2007 Hollywood collection is a great sparkling, sugared plum color. It has a slight duochrome effect in that it flashes silver and green. The shimmer almost gives the polish a frosty effect, but the finish does not leave brush strokes like a typical frost. I am very pleased with the complexity and finish of this shade. I really prefer it to any other dark purple polishes I have owned, including CHANEL Cobra. It's a terrific shade and I like OPI's Prowide™ brush, too. It is ranked in my top 10 polishes of all time.

OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight is another delightful deep shimmering plum polish. It does not have a duochrome effect and it is a little deeper hue, but I think it is an elegant alternative to the blacks and deep grays that have been so popular in nail color for the past year. Lincoln Park at Midnight was a follow-up on OPI's Chicago collection, in which a vampy plum creme called Lincoln Park After Dark was a best seller. Lincoln Park at Midnight is "After Dark's" lighter and easier to wear cousin. It looks sexy and sophisticated without being overtly Goth.

Sensai Eye Contour Cream Review

It is a butter-like cream that immediately improves dullness, dark circles and puffiness. It applies like silk and leaves the skin area around the eye smooth and refreshed. I used it after an episode with hot eyebrow wax. The cream immediately took away the heat, redness and the skin flakes. I was grateful for it's stellar performance. Nothing is worse than flakes on the eye lid.

Sensai's Eye Contour Cream is chock full of natural ingredients such as Apricot and Shilan Extract, from the purple orchid plant. This ingredient helps encourage cellular metabolism. It has the ability to heal chapped hands and feet, reduce burns and moisturize and smooth the skin. Shilan Extract has also been used in internal medicine to help fight lung disease. It is a multi-purpose plant with healing properties.

Sensai products are available at Takashimaya in NYC, Barneys in NYC, Bergdorf Goodman and select SAKs.

“I’ll Drink To That!”
Dashing Diva “Uncorks” New “Wine Pedicure” for Fall

As the leaves begin to turn, it finally hits us that summer is definitely over. It’s time to start getting all cozy and snuggle our toes into something warm, while sipping a glass of Chardonnay or Merlot. Dashing Diva’s new Fall Harvest “Wine Pedicure” is the perfect way to celebrate the change of seasons.

What’s So Special About This Pedicure?
This “intoxicating” pedicure begins with a red wine & clay cleansing milk foot massage, followed by a calming soak in a Merlot fizzing wine bath (a unique concoction of grape seed oil, baking soda, and Vitamins A and E, to which we add 2 scoops of real California Merlot). Nails are then meticulously trimmed before feet are scrubbed with a delicious Chardonnay sugar scrub, followed by a mineral-rich, seasonally-appropriate, pumpkin foot masque. After a soothing 10-minute foot and lower leg massage with a grape seed oil “elixir,” feet are slathered in a delightful Lavender Chardonnay body butter before toes are polished to perfection. Best yet, it comes with a complimentary glass of Chardonnay or Merlot!

For fall, Dashing Diva recommends one of the new “Fall Harvest” inspired polishes in the following colors:

Black Raspberry – A deep, raspberry-red burgundy shade
Champagne Nude – A soft, shimmery beige hue
Bronze Bombshell – A chic, metallic bronze color

Price: $75.00
Length: One hour
Launch Date: October 8 2007, at all Dashing Diva locations in New York (plus CA and NC)

Dashing Diva nail spas are located in New York at:

41 East 8th Street – Tel: 212 673 9000
1341 2nd Avenue - Tel: 212 570 0770 590 Columbus Avenue – Tel: 212 877 9052

Clinque Supermoisture Makeup

My co-worker Sandy is testing a new foundation from Clinque. Supermoisture foundation is described as "ultra-creamy yet refreshingly lightweight."
It looks creamy enough to spread on toast and feels whispery light on the skin.
Sandy liked the moisturizing benefits but felt that the coverage power was lacking. It took some layering to achieve the flawless coverage that MAC Studio Mist foundation gave.

Sandy used the Golden shade. For reference Sandy is NC 45.

Clinque's Supermoisture foundation is currently available at your local counter. It is priced at $22.50.

MAC Aids Fund Event with Dita Von Teese and Eve.

On Thursday, MAC celebrated the milestone of raising 100 million dollars to help fight HIV and Aids around the world. This money was raised by the sales from MAC Viva Glam lipstick and lipglass.
7.1 million Viva Glam lipsticks have been sold since 1994. The MAC Aids fund supports over 400 organizations each year. The organizations range from selected pediatric HIV/Aids organizations to controversial programs such as needle exchanges for street youth in Russia.

The event drew photographers and press along with some of the most stunning MAC employees in the company.

Eve, Nancy Mahon and Dita Von Teese were on hand to celebrate and promote the event. Nancy Mahon is the Vice President/Executive Director of the MAC Aids Fund. We were able to dish with her after the photographers left. She is proud of how the MAC Aids fund targets issues and areas where no other charity is willing to go. I was impressed with her passion and energy. She is a great asset to the MAC team and the charity world in general.

Dita was magnificent with her Louboutin heels and red lips. Her skin is otherworldly. There is just no words for how stunning it is.
I was just thrilled that I was able to see her in real life. I am a fan of her taste and charm. I was actually kicking myself that I did not wear my Behnaz lipstick and favorite Weiss pin.

Eve was also her usual gorgeous self. Her makeup was flawless and lemming worthy.
I was so transfixed with her lip gloss that I asked my favorite MAC gal to find out the identity of the lippie. She brought over JJ, Eve's personal makeup artist and friend. JJ used Wondershine 3D lipglass to create the most amazing coral-ish lippie ever. She also used Melon pigment as a blush. I was thrilled because I own both products. Now of course....I do not have the gorgeous golden skin tone of Eve but I will still attempt the look.
JJ uses both NC44 and NC 45 Studiotech foundation on Eve.
Michelle from All Lacquered Up asked JJ what spring makeup forecast she had for us.
JJ said that mascara will be heavy, brows will be arched and lips will be berry like.

The paparazzi were ushered in before the event started and set up camp in front of us. It was very hard to get a great shot of the girls. All three of us stood on our tiptoes with our little digital cameras. The standard pap camera are Nikons. Each camera looked like it had survived a war tour. One photographer brought a step ladder to get a better shot. They were fairly respectful and did not overstay their welcome.

The MAC staff were friendly, helpful and gorgeous. Of course all their makeup looks were lemming worthy. I could have spent at least $100 just buying all the lippies. There were beautiful berries and shimmering reds. One SA had the best smoky eye I had ever seen in real life. I just wanted to beg her to tutor me.

I want to thank the amazing MAC staff for letting us be a part of their celebration. It was a blast!

Please consider splurging on the MAC Viva Glam Lipsticks, Lipglasses and Lip Palettes this holiday season. Besides giving you a great lippie look, each cent raised will help someone who is suffering with HIV and Aids.
Also consider purchasing the MAC Kids Helping Kids greeting cards for the holidays. They are fabulous and all proceeds fund selected pediatric HIV/Aids organizations.
