The images are starting to circulate for the Chanel fall makeup collection. This will be the first full collection from Peter Philips, the new Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup. His inspiration for fall came from Mademoiselle Chanel’s legendary apartment on Rue Cambon. I went combing through my Chanel apartment pictures and found some possible clues on what might have inspired Mr Philips.
My first guess at the inspiration was Bond's Goldfinger.
The fall collection looks amazing and worth lemming. I am going to guess that the nail polishes will fly off the shelves. Kaleidoscope is described as a shiny green gold....

FACETTES D’OR HIGHLIGHTER – GOLD FEVER
Limited Edition
This sheer whisper of finely milled golden powder brings a delicate sheer glow to the complexion, gently illuminating the curve of the cheek or bringing subtle allover radiance to the face.

FACETTES D’OR NAIL COLOUR – GOLD FICTION
Limited Edition
A flash of colour — the look of 18-karat gold — delivers a precious new way for nails to shine this fall. With unique pigments and the finest sparkles, a brilliant golden lacquer extends the luxurious effects of this chic shade right down to the fingertips.

The lip collection expands with a selection of rich, luxurious shades. ROUGE HYDRABASE Creme Lipstick arrives in Simply Pink, a coral pink; Fantastic Plum, a deep purple;

and Great Copper, a flattering bronze; while the iconic
ROUGE ALLURE Luminous Satin Lip Colour introduces Enthusiast, a rich coral red. For a sheer finish, AQUALUMIÈRE Sheer Colour Lipshine SPF 15 now comes in Formentera, a beige rose, and Papeete , a sheer cranberry. A glossy finish is achieved with the cult-favorite LÈVRES SCINTILLANTES Glossimer in three new shades: Amberlight, a glossy bronze, Delight, a sheer lilac, and Gold Light, a shimmery gold.

LE CRAYON LÈVRES Precision Lip Definer arrives in Pretty Pink, a flattering pink.

The latest LES 4 OMBRES Quadra Eye Shadow is Reflets d’Ombre, a sensuous palette of coffee, ivory, dark green, and gold shadows. Take eyes to the height of seduction with two new OMBRE ESSENTIELLE Soft Touch Eyeshadows: Le Bronze, a metallic brown, and Bois Bleu, a dark teal. IRRÉELLE DUO Silky Eyeshadow Duo in Cristal-Dusk contains a flattering combination of white and brown. Finally, make eyes pop with the new LE CRAYON YEUX Precision Eye Definer in Denim, a grey blue.

For the perfect touch of warmth, apply JOUES CONTRASTE Powder Blush in Rose Dust, a rose plum shade, to cheeks. Skin looks soft and luminous with POUDRE DOUCE in Almond, a subtly radiant beige

Polish off this sexy palette with two new shades of LE VERNIS Nail Colour in Kaléidoscope, a shiny green-gold, and Fantastic, a deep wine.

Wet n Wild
i-sparkle eyeshadow palettes

I caved on Twilight. It has a dusty lavender flower with a blue violet center. The rest of the palette is a wash that resembles MAC Seedy Pearl. The corner flower is a pretty fabulous taupe. Very sheer with subtle shimmer.

The actual palette took at least ten minutes to open. The sticker was practically impossible to remove without a knife. The latch is on the side and the palette slides to reveal a handy mirror.
This made it worth the hassle.

Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess

The notes are similar to Lauder's Tom Ford Azuree Soleil Skinscent yet they are vastly different during side by side testing. I swear I am not being persnickety.

There is more vetiver in Azuree. It appears quickly and stays throughout the drydown. It also settles down quickly into a warmed skin scent. Bronze Goddess is sweeter with more coconut and milk. It boasts a caramel note that I never really detect except for a mysterious sweetness. This is more beachy than Azuree.

The notes are Sicilian bergamot, mandarin, tiare milk, orange flower buds, jasmine, creamy magnolia petals and droplets of myrrh with amber, Sandalwood, vetiver, caramel and Coconut Cream.

The collection includes a lipstick(Beige Caracai), lip gloss(by all accounts I have heard so far...it is stunning and the best nude gloss EVER! It is called Nude Prainha) and eyeshadow quartet(Carnet de Velours).
The collection is available at Sephora,Lancome boutiques and lancome-usa.com only.

Estee Lauder's Bronze Goddess Sheer Lip Tint in Fuchsia

It looks like a terrifyingly bold fuchsia in the tube. On the lips it gives a healthy dose of color. It is not a typical sheer. This tint has more pigment and punch. The formula is very emollient and creamy with vitamins C & E and shea butter. It lasts well throughout the day and builds well with other lipstick and glosses. I have used my MAC dazzleglass in Comet Blue with great success.
It contains SPF 15 and smells figalicious.
It retails for $25 and is currently located at your local Lauder counter.

Shiseido Makeup Multi-Shade Enhancer in Terra-Cotta Glow

This gives a very subtle yet noticeable sun kissed glow. I believe the mixture of gold and champagne shades eliminates the "dirty face" issue I have with most bronzers. This just gives a tinge of sun glow instead of turning into some shade of rust. I tested it with and without foundation to see how held up throughout the day. The performance was pretty remarkable. There was no morphing, caking or disappearing. There is some shimmer but nothing out of the ordinary. It is entirely work-safe and non-shimmer folks will not be annoyed by stray glitters.
Thumbs up from this pale girl.

This can be found at your local Sephora or Shiseido counter for $25. The actual case is purchased seperately for $10.50.
The case is a marvel with satisfying opening and closing snaps with a handy compartment and mini-bronser brush. I played with this thing over and over to see if the bronzer brush would slide out. Each and every time it would slide slowly into the top half of the compact.
I am convinced that heavy engineering went into this compact's construction.
You might also notice that the terra-cotta is not half as scary as it was pictured on the Sephora website. There is no brick red in this bronzer. In reality it is more of a warmer taupe shade.

I have lost my beauty mojo.
Readers and friends might have noticed my sparse posts and lack of lust over the last few weeks.

I wish I had something interesting or a glamourous tale to tell but alas...it is just a bruised heart and a heavy workload. I have been too exhausted to gush or bitch.
This week I plan to start afresh. I am going to rediscover my love for blogging and beauty. I thought I would start off with something that will make me swoon. A jar of shimmer generally does the trick. This is 3D Silver from the MAC Heatherette collection. They boys managed to capture a disco ball in a jar.

I have yet to use it because of the "not eye safe" warning on the box. I am not encouraging any misuse of the product but there is a MUA poster who has created some fabulous eyes with the 3D glitter.

What uses have you found with your 3D glitter? Tell us in the comments.

Philosophy's Surfer Girl Set

This limited edition set from Philosophy was inspired by a sunny day at the beach. Testing this product provided welcome relief from the cold gray skies in Ohio. It feels like fall instead of spring.

The set includes Exfoliating Shower Gel, Shimmer Body Lotion, and Surfer Girl Lip Shine. All three products smell exactly like Trident gum's Tropical Twist. It is a combination of bubblegum and kiwi papaya.

The shower gel is a thick, dense cream with small exfoliating beads. It leaves a slight gold shimmer on the skin. The shimmer lotion is chock full of a warm golden twinkle. The shimmer is not a heavy adolescent glitter but something incandescent. It will be gorgeous for evening.
The lip gloss is not sticky or goopy. This is a slick, very wet gloss that applies smooth and gives you just a wash of low key gold glimmer.

It is exclusive to Sephora and retails for $35.

Shiseido's Hydro Powder in Rose Tulle

I am generally a fan of Hydro Powders. I love the light texture, range of pigment levels, variety of shades and its buildability powers. They are easy to blend and are resistant to creasing and disappearance acts. I have always been impressed with Hydo Powder's skills.
It almost acts as an eye primer.

Rose Tulle is the first Hydro Powder that disappointed me greatly.
It is an ultra sheer pink.
A little too sheer.
The pink disappears on my pale skin.
All that shows up is the shimmer.
And the shimmer is nothing to write home about.
This a glistening kind of sparkle.
More wet looking instead of incandescent and on fire.

It retails for $23 and is available at Sephora.

With Real Crushed Diamonds by Cavewoman

I should call this post 'things you find when you are looking for other things.' I ran into Victoria's Secret a few days ago, a store into which I rarely venture, since most of their offerings just don't suit me very well. I went in to take a sniff of one of their fragrances, which didn't impress me very much since now I can't even remember the name of it. But in our local VS store, there is a small display of the store brand cosmetics. I was browsing and testing colors, and I happened upon a small square box called Very Sexy Diamond Lust Face Powder. There was no display or tester for this powder, so I asked the SA nearby if I could open it to see what it looked like. She said 'Of course!' and came over to look, too. When I opened the sleek black compact, I was giddy! The pressed powder is composed of different shapes and sizes of 'gems' with the thinnest black 'facet' lines, and shimmery (I'm hooked now) shades of rose, pink, copper and gold. I caved. It cost barely more than drugstore powders these days, and even though I have no idea what I am going to do with it, it is at least a new item in my compact collection. On the edge of the box, these words are printed in red: 'With real CRUSHED DIAMONDS' -- I wonder what diamonds are going to look like on my face. It reminds me of the Guerlain primer with the gold flakes suspended in the serum. Where did those gold flakes go? I never did figure that out. I'll let Blogdorf readers know if my face starts looking like a DeBeers ad after I try the new powder.
That is, if I can bear to use it.

Yes to Carrots
C through the Dry Spell Deliciously Rich Body Butter

This is a cream that is strangely dense and light at the same time. The texture is pudding-like. It is finely whipped but feels substantial on the skin.
The cream does not immediately melt into the skin like a Body Shop body butter. It takes a little extra work and effort in the application. It is worth the slight aerobic workout, the skin is left silky smooth and moisturized.
It smells like heaven with that delicious mix of carrot, pumpkin and sweet potato.

It is available at your local Walgreens for $12.99
http://www.walgreens.com/

Ingredients: Spring Water, Dead Sea Water, Caprylic / Capric Triglyceride, Glyceryl Stearate, Algae Extracts (Rhodella, Dunaliella, Spirulina), Carrot Juice, Carrot Seed Oil, Pumpkin Juice, Silt (Dead Sea Mud), Cocoa Butter, Melon Juice, Sweet Potato Extract, Orange Juice, Parfum, Sweet Almond Oil, Olive Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil, Niacin, Green Tea Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Extract, Imidazolidinyl Urea, Pomegranate Peel Extract

Every night I spend an hour reading Perfumes: The Guide. This was a book written by my friends Tbone(Tania Sanchez) and Mr T(Luca Turin). Tbone and I became fast friends on the makeupalley fragrance boards. As with all great friendships I am not really sure how it all began. The first time we met in NYC she appeared out of thin air like a magician. She was this pocket sized dynamo with a great taste in all things and knowledge of kung fu.
I loved her instantly.

Many of my great fragrance loves have been experienced in her presence. I was with Tbone when I first fell for the charms of Frederic Malle's Une Fleur De Cassie. She is the one who insisted that Chanel's #18 worked on my skin. Tbone also gifted me with a decant of vintage Chamade that rocked my world.

Tbone is part romantic and part scientist. She can talk about perfume in a technical, humorous and gorgeous way. That is what I always loved about her reviews and writing.

Here is some of my favorites from the book:

Jolie Madame: "One of the great all time leather chypres, Balmain's Jolie Madame was composed by the legendary Germaine Cellier in 1953, in those glorious postwar years when everyone still wore hats. Leathers veered between the plush and the butch: Chanel's Cuir de Russie, plush; Knize Ten, butch. Cabochard, plush; Cellier's own Bandit, butch. Jolie Madame was unusual in avoiding plush and butch via a big fruity violet that made what could have been a harsh, bitter leather in the style of Bandit instead the easiest to wear of the classic leathers, simultaneously girlish and tough, like a patent-leather Mary Jane. It was pretty but with plenty of spine: just about perfect."

Ormonde: It has the outdoor witchiness of tall pines leaning into the night-a bitter oakmoss inkiness, a dry cedar crackle and a low, delicious pleading amber like the call of a faraway candy house. Lulling and unsettling in equal measure, and truly great.

Samsara: As with Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, the case of Samsara is fascinating because it so bad, second because it is so big and third because it is happening to a beloved franchise.

Tbone nicknamed me Queen Anniedala and humors my Star Wars love.

The book is on sale now.

Zoya's ChitChat Collection

This is the second summer collection from Zoya. The ChitChat polishes were inspired and named after beauty bloggers. Each color is built on a golden shimmery base.

Annie is like a fire opal. There is red, orange and pink shades swirled in with a blast of gold shimmer. It requires two coats to achieve the color in the bottle. I am honored and delighted to have a nail polish named after me.

Gaia from The Non-Blonde is an ultra sheer white with gold shimmer. I have not tested this properly yet. I think it will create the most stunning french manicures.

Erika from Makeup Bag
is a sheer baby pink with light gold shimmer. This requires more than two coats to achieve the shade in the bottle. It is ultra feminine and lovely.

Bekka is the odd ball of the collection. It is a strange brew of traditional chartreuse with more yellow thrown in the recipe. The shimmer is more yellow than gold. I have tested this on a slew of co-workers and friends. It looks best on skin with yellow tones. It requires more than two coats and the sparkle quality is quite fine.

Elke from The Beauty Newsletter is a highly pigmented berry/blue based poppy shade swirled with gold. This was a huge hit at the office. It is just stunning.

Liane at The Makeup Girl is a shimmery bold tangerine. This was a huge hit at the nail salon for pedicures. It just pops on the toes and is quite possible the most appealing shade for the upcoming hot summer months.

All these shades are available for $6 at
http://www.artofbeauty.com/scrpt/scr.dll/cat?brand=2

Many thanks to the Zoya company for honoring bloggers in this way.
It has been wonderful and such a thrill.
